as a companion to best jig color post i thought i would add this.
my current personal fav is the zoom fat albert twin tail
GYCB Fat Baby Craw
I'll second that RW.
I too like the fat albert....but if you want to try something new....cut a zoom brush hog in half (or just use the whole thing) and use the bottom half as the trailer...it works great
I have started using Joe trailer with my jigs and they work
Quotecut a zoom brush hog in half (or just use the whole thing) and use the bottom half as the trailer...it works great
:-X SHHHHHHHHHH
I like yum crawbugs, yum chunks, creature baits, and beavers.
That's a good question, because jigs are frequently referred to without any mention of the trailer,
which is only half a story. My jig-trailers change like the wind, but my favorites right now:
> Yum Crawbug
> Zoom Pro Chunk
> Sizmic Bitsy Craw
Roger
> Paca Baby Craw or Paca Chunk
> Zoom chunk
Uncle Josh #11 Bait Frog.
YUM Chunk
my favorite is a brush hog. instead of breaking the "arms" at the top of the loop, ill break em off at the bottom and cut alitte in front of them. then i take the wings and cut em down the middle to give it a "craw" appeal
my favorites are the handpoured ones i make. i use two main styles, one like a traditional chunk and one like the paca chunk. when swimming a jig i use yamamoto single tail grubs. i used to use a lot of single and double tail grubs but have started using the ones i handpour almost exclusively. if i was gonna buy one i would use the paca chunk and joes trailer chunk.
Gene Larew Salty Hawg Craws in 6, 5, & 4 8-)
For swimming jig I usually use a Zoom Fat Albert single tail, or a GYCB single. Flip/pitch etc., a Zoom Fat Albert twin or a SK Denny Brauer 3X
Paca Chunk Sr
How do you put a crawbug as a trailer on a jig?
I personally prefer Yum crawl bug with a zoom baby brush hog cut in half and shoved up the yums craws outh then i hook it together throught the back and they stay together giveign the yum craw more tentacles and things to draw attention, i also modify the brush hawg buy splithign the sides and takeign half the uper arme off. TRY IT SEE IF YOU LIKE IT
I ALSO take 2 zoom chunks split 1 14 the chunk and face it on the jig backwards then place a oom chunk the correct way on it it will look like a jig with arms and legs if you think about it.
Uncle Josh black widow eel. JMHO
Ronnie
my favorite would be the GYCB fat baby craw. i also like a bait like a case plastics Lil' sweet pea.
yum chunk or zoom super chunk in black/blue or watermelon
QuoteUncle Josh #11 Bait Frog.
Yep
yea id say anything with the yum tag ;D
My 2 favorites are Joesjigtrailers or zoom lil critter craws. Thats about the only 2 I use.
The Gene Larew salt craws are my go to jig trailer. I will go to a Zoom super chunk jr on a 1 oz. jig for a faster rate of fall, but more often than not, the larew salt craw works well for me. ;)Ivan
cant beleive nobodys said pork trailer.. :

Brushpile,
FYI - Uncle Josh # 11 frog and the black widow eel are both pork trailers and are mentioned above.
Tight lines.

Using a Zoom Critter Craw, Preston Clark snatched the all-time B.A.S.S. 4-day stringer-record (115-lb, 15oz)

Yeah, I have to go with that too.
Quotecant beleive nobodys said pork trailer..
Years back that would've been my first choice.
But I was happy to move away from uncle josh #11 pork chunks.
I figure it's time for some new guys to wrestle with rock-hard pork rind ;D
It seems like most of the tournament players have also moved to plastic trailers.

Doesnt anyone use Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver as one?
Game,
Reaction Innovations Sweet Beavers are my pretty much the only trailer that I use. There are so many colors that you can match many different jigs/skirts.
QuoteDoesnt anyone use Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver as one?
I've never tried it. You had good luck using it as a trailer?

No sir, but I just found a bag in Dirty Sanchez that I cant wait to use today. Ill try them as a trailer on my Manns Stone Jiggs. I mentioned it as one because im hearing a lot about them all of a sudden and was shocked to find that I had a bag of them. It deffinatly was baught at Gander Mountain some time ago, so if you have one in your area chance are you can get them there or, at least, online.
I'm kind of partial , but the only ones I use are Joesjigtrailers
zoom super chunk watermelon
I like the FLW jig trailer.

Yeah, I have to go with that too.
Honestly that IS the trailer I use 90% of the time.
i use the butt half of a mangled zoom lizard
like rolo said the numer 11 pork frog was THE trailer back in the day.
Unless things have changed, puttin em on was easy,
but taking em off was impossible
thank God for soft plastic
Netbait Paca Chunk!
I love the discontinued flappin craws, from gary yamamoto, i got mine odered really fast from jbcoutfitters theres a guy with htis bait as his icon, i clicked his link there.i odered standard shipping and got them in 4 days so yea there great but sad to see them go since i just got into jigs.
I have really taken a liking to (my bass too) hula grub type baits.
I use the YUM Gonzo grub when I can find it and the GYCB DT Hula Grub when I can't.
Paca chunk, bungee hog, pork strip, FBB craw
