Did Squirmin Wormin get another account?
Anyways what type of rod do you have spinning or casting? This will give us a better idea of what type of jigs you should fish... you don't want to be throwing one meant for flipping on spinning gear.
To answer your specific question....it depends. Besides, our favorites might mean nothing if we aren't fishing the same conditions you're facing....it depends
I dont know who that is I have all the above lol i have casting and spining and hevay action and light action my main rod i use is a cassting rod 7ft6in medium heavy line wt 10-30lbs lire wt3/8-2 cabelas fish eagle graphite with a quantum ultrex ul1008 i heard longer rods are better for jigs my other main one is a medium light action h2o express 7ft spinning rod thouse are my two main rods i have one other bass rod but dont really like it and im on a limmeted budget thats why i only have three bass rods
Get some 3/8oz jigs in green pumpkin, black and blue, and maybe PB&J. As far as brands are concerned i would suggest you start with something cheap since jigs have a way of getting themselves snagged.
Check your local sporting goods store for sales.
X2 on the colors. Stick to black/blue, greens and browns. For trailers Paca Chunks work for me and they don't cost too much.
Ok i wll check out thouse colors and all we have is wallmart and high end exspinsve tackle shops but i will check them too for cheeper stuff

I think he's holed up somewhere, reading the responses to the 49 questions he asked in his first 50 posts.... ;-)
As for the jig question, I don't think you could go wrong by buying some 3/8 or 1/2 oz. jigs at Wal-Mart. I like green, brown/green, PBJ, or black/blue. I think it's hard to go wrong with trailers, either; just get something that looks sort of crayfishy... I like Missile D-Bombs, Berkley Pit Boss, Strike King KVD Chunks and Yamamoto Flappin' Craws.
Tight lines,
Bob
If I were you I wouldn't cheap out on jigs. The ones I've picked up at my Walmart aren't very good. Although I do like throwing the Bitsy Bugs on spinning gear.
You should save your money and wait until Black Friday to find some good deals.
Siebert jigs are not expensive at all I suggest you place an order there. Other inexpensive jigs that are pretty good are pepper baits, and bass patrol. Netbait paca chunks are cheap trailers and d**n good.
Try some Booyah Baby Boos.
My favorite ones? I tie my own.

I tie a lot of my own, but when I buy jigs most of the time they are boo-ya boo jigs. I like the 1/4-1/2 oz black/blue and black/red. pretty much any of the colors work just depends on the situation and these can be found under 3 bucks...

This is my Favriot Jig, Extra Favre
If I only could pick one jig, it would be a 1/2 ounce black&blue or pb&j football. I fish fairly deep reservoirs with lots of rocks, stumps, etc. If I fished a more weedy lake or pond, a flipping or pitching jig would be my first choice.
Well i caught my bass with a jig so im guess im some what doing right it was a strike king jig a greenish color with brown flakes in it and i got four other bights i guess they were tuging on the trailer which i noticed it was already starting to tear some it was one some one gave me when imentioned it was my first time fishing one and trying to figur it outand he noticed i dident have a trailer which was kinda embbarising anyways i was wondring how offten do yall change trailers
I'd suggest a Dirty Jigs arkie head jig in 3/8 or 1/2 oz. I think the actual product name Dirty Jigs uses for this style head is "Pitching Jig" but I could be wrong. Dirty Jigs is my favorite jig brand by far and I have quite a few of their jigs in different styles. The arkie head is such a versatile head shape that it works in a wide variety of situations.
As far as colors go I'm with the rest of the guys here, preferring greens first then browns and lastly the tried and true black & blue. Good Luck.
Keep the colors simple like others said. Get some black and blue and green pumpkin and you're good. I'd probably go with a 3/8oz head as it will cover a lot of fishing situations.
I change trailers out when I need to. Sometimes you'll go through one without ever catching a fish. I've been using the new Zman Batwingz jig chunks and have used one for 2 trips now and caught a couple dozen fish on it and it's still fishable. Most jig trailers are only going to be good for a few fish though.
The importance of spelling, punctuation, complete sentences and paragraphs is overrated...
Anyhow, I would suggest 3/8 oz. Siebert Outdoors Dredge Arky Jig. Black, black & blue and
PB&J. You can buy your trailers on the same order with Siebert: Rage Tail Craw black w/ blue
flakes and PB&J.

Road Warrior nailed it. Those are my favorite jigs and colors.
If your in Jasper, TX you shouldn't have any problems finding Oldham Jigs locally. They are actually located in Wimberley, TX. I fish a jig at least 50% of the time (some days even more). I've been using them for almost 20 years. They are a quality product. And priced very reasonably also.
If you can't find them locally, you can order them directly from Oldham Jigs. You won't be disappointed. Link to site provided below.

The very best jigs IMO are pepper jigs from pepperjigs.com. I carry three colors: Pumpkin Green Flake (Green Pumpkin), Clear Lake Special (Brown Orange) and Black Blue. I use matching rage or paca chunks and they hammer the snot out of bass everywhere I've fished.

The limited purple/gold color was more effective than I thought it would be.
If you're on a budget, go to tackle warehouse and check out Living Image skirts that you can put on Boss jigheads. This is a cheaper way to buy jigs and the living image skirts are awesome.
As far as my favorite silicone skirts, I'd have to go with Dirty JIgs.
For Living Rubber Jigs, I'd have to go with Skinny Bear
Another brand I've been wanting to try but have yet to get to is jigs from Greenfish Tackle.
I would just start out with a few different brands and go from there. Play around with them and see which ones you like better.
1/2ozBlacknBlueFootball
Terminator jigs are your best bet for the money. You can get one for about 2.99 and they're better that others in that price range (aka Bass Pro and Strike King). For spinning gear, get two 3/8s of an ounce jigs, one an arkie head and one a football head, one in Green Pumpkin, and the other in Black/Blue. For casting, 1/2 or 3/4s oz. should do the trick. Again, one in arkie, the other in football, GP and the other in B/B.
Production jigs with rubber band skirts? No thank you. Siebert Outdoors Supreme Series offers wire tied by hand jigs for less than the Terminator. Northstar are just a couple quarters more. For the record, I tried a TON of Terminator "football heads" and no other jig excelled at getting stuck in rocks and zebes. I will say, the lighter green and browns are a dead ringer for a goby, with the weird eyes.
I don't mean to sound like I'm pimping (okay, I do, lol), but there's a lot of you guys out there tossing off the shelf jigs thinking a custom jig is too much $$$ - not true! Add in the fact that the skirts last at least 10x as long, being wire tied, and you'll see what I mean.
There's really only one production jig I'll throw anymore, and that's also wire tied. That jig's days are numbered, though.
Nothing wrong with production rubber collars. As long as you don't throw your jigs and spinnerbaits into laydowns....or grass....or rocks....or stumps....
Never mind water, or storing them in your tackle box, leaving them out in the air, or heaven forbid in a fish's mouth.... Nothing more maddening than a screwed up skirt or one that simply falls off because the rubber band is shot.

idk....some are worth more than others....to me, anyway
Yawn..stretch...last I checked, Normark charges more for a jig made on an assembly line in some other country. Seibert and Northstar support these forums, offers a better, hand made to your spec product, not to satisfy stockholders, but because they like to share the success they've had with baits they've made. I can assure, they're not getting rich.... Did I mention, THEY COST LESS, lol. Seems like a no brainer, but you kids can go ahead and insult my opinion all you want.
Sorry, if that sounds curt, but it's my best response to replies like this....

Dirty Jigs! They may cost $.75 more than other jigs, but it's totally worth it imo, the colors are amazing. My favorites are blackend blue and brown/purple.

Let me clarify. I didn't mean to be touchy or insult your opinion.
When I said "opinions are free," I was referring to my opinion, not yours. You weren't paying for or expecting anything from my opinion, so I stated it. I'm free to my own opinions, you're free to yours. I'm glad you like wired tied jigs so much. I checked out Siebert Outdoors. They impressed me and will be getting my business sometime in the future.
Your gonna love them, dude. They are SO MUCH NICER than the brands you mentioned.
A quick word: there's a TON of guys hand making great jigs, and just about all of them are better than what you find on the shelves, and probably equal to what Northstar and Siebert offer, but Northstar and Siebert keep the free opinions flowing on BassResource.com. If there's a reason beyond just the baits themselves to help convince you to try them out, that's a big one for me.
I don't use the sponsor products because I have to. I use them because I want to. Many, I was already using anyway (Megastrike, Catch & Release, Hawgtech, Ragetail....).

Maybe I'll even get the J. Francho color just to appease you......
It's a perfect match with a Ragetail's Bama Craw color.

I bought a couple of the J Francho jigs in 3/8oz with the Bama Craw a couple weeks ago. It's a good looking jig and I am looking forward to using them.On 11/20/2014 at 1:16 AM, J Francho said:It's a perfect match with a Ragetail's Bama Craw color.
