I fish ponds mostly; throwing swim jigs with trailers / chatterbaits / weightless senkos. My three favorites. Haven't had much luck recently. Changed it up recently and started throwing a KVD 1.5 Squarebill. Mind you I have never had any confidence in crank baits b/c I use spinning set ups. But I needed to try something different and wouldn't you know...Had two great days fishing a 1.5 and also caught some on a Red Eye. So I was wondering what is a favorite Squarebill amongst the BR population. Thanks for the info.
KVD 1.5
H20 CRS
Bomber square A
KVD 1.5 catches fish great. That's about it. Not very durable. Boy does it catch fish though... My favourite is the storm Arashi 3 and 5 in Bluegill and Hot blue shad colors.
My favorite sq bills are the Lucky Craft BDS 3 and RC 1.5.
kvd 1.5 charteruse black back, thats it
The H20 CRS is half the price of the KVD but its almost identical and they carry most of the popular colors and can be Bought with or without rattles
kvd 1.5
series 1
bomber square a
Kvds no doubt, but the H2O crs is a close second.
Strike king 2.5 on a budget ,otherwise lucky craft skt mr
6th Sense Crush Flat 75X Squarebill ~
A-Jay
Rapala Crankin' Rap.
Runners up would be the H20 CRS, Bagley Balsa B, RC 1.5 & Spro Little John.
H2O Express CRS
XCalibur
I picked up a Sebile Bull Crank the other day and I really like it a lot. I also have started throwing the Xcalibur XCS100 and it is a great crank as well. If I could afford to throw LC a lot then I would go with the RTO 1.5. Rick Clunn's cranks with Luck-E-Strike is also a great crank.
The Baker suspending squarebills worked great for me early spring.
Acadamy H2O CRS is a good quality bait.
LC 1.5
Megabass Knuckle 60
IMA Bill Lowen
H20 CRS, KVD 1.5, LC 1.5.
Bomber square A
I have tried a bunch of them. Storm Arashi's, Xcaliburs, Rapalas, Bombers, Spros, Bandits, Mann's, BPS, and Cabela's house brands, Luck-e-strike, and more that I probably forgot about. I always buy them, try them, and then sell them and stick with Strike King. For overall, day in, day out use, I like the KVD 1.5, and for big fish I like the 2.5. Don't sleep on the series 1 and 4s either, both are great baits, and I will use these when I want a rattling squarebill instead of buying the BPS exclusive rattling KVD's.
Norman Fat Boy (Redear)
Bomber Square A, close second SK KVD, then the excaliburs.
The fat boy and man n from norman are great too.
Thanks for all the tips guys....I went to Dick's today and the one in my area is having a buy one get one 50% off of all lures. I loaded up on some new squarebills. Went heavy on the KVD 1.5's as it seemed to get the most votes. Thanks again to all.
Caught several on the bomber square A, just picked up a KVD 1.5 so well see how it fairs.
H20 crazy is a great crank.
KVD 1.5 and 1.0 just flat catch fish, and 9 times out of 10 that's what I'm throwing. I have caught some fish on the rebel wee-r when the water is cold and muddy though.
There is a lot of competent shallow cranks out there; too many really. The Bagley Balsa B #2 and Rapala DT Fat 3 are often overlooked and they really shouldn't be because they are dynamite. The DT-4, while not a squarebill, can lay a serious beat down on a lot of shallow cranks when it comes to straight up fish catching.
I've fished a lot of squarebills. The ones I've had the most success with are KVD 1.5's, River2Sea Ish Monroe series, Storm Arashi Squarebills, and Xcalibur. I've heard great things about the LuckEStrike Rick Clunn squarebills too.

From my experience with the Rick Clunn square bills they are terrible.
Bought 3 one day and none ran true out of the box, 2 broke the bill in timber, one of them sank tail down for some reason, I tried to boat flip a 3 pounder and one of the treble snapped off the 3rd... I find it hard to believe I got 3 duds, but I do know some people who like them I guess...
favorite colors?
I like the oxbow and black/chartreuse

That's odd since I've had the exact opposite experience. Tried one from the MTB one month and it seemed to come through cover better and more consistent than the KVDs. I've picked up about a dozen of them over the last couple weeks and had some great fishing days on the Mississippi. Haven't had any issues at all, even boat flipped a couple 3s and a 4 this weekend on them. Wonder if they had a bad batch of them go out?
It's either those or the KVDs for me. Get a little tired of the KVDs because some of them seem to snag up REALLY easy if you don't replace with a short shank trebel, although I would say the majoirty of them run true and work nice right out of the box.
ive had more success using the Jackall Aska than any other squarebill, I do like the kvds also
KVD 1.5, Storm Arashi, and the Luckey Craft Clunn now Omari 1.5
LC bds3 and bds4, kvd 1.5 and 2.5. Shad colors and craw colors.
