What size hooks do you guys use for wacky rigging senkos? 2024

fishing user avatarJFlynn97 reply :

I'm going to be picking up some Gamakatsu finesse wide gap hooks to use primarily for wacky rigging senkos. I've heard recommendations for everywhere from size 2 to 4/0. If you had to pick only one size, which would y'all go? I think I'm going to try for 1/0, but I'd love people's opinions!

fishing user avatarBassWhole! reply :

1/0 with a ring, 2/0 without.

fishing user avatarCrestliner2008 reply :

I've been using Gamakatsu's Inline Circle hook size 1/0. I prefer the one with the turned up eye, which I snell onto the fluorocarbon leader. I've caught a lot of bass on that hook.

fishing user avatarWRB reply :

Owner 5172 size 1/0 for 5" and 2/0 for 6" & 7" w/o-rings.

fishing user avatarBassguytom reply :

Gammy 1/0 octopus hook is what we use.

fishing user avatarDens228 reply :

I use the Gamakatsu Offset EWG 2/0 hook for both wacky and t-rigs.......A lot of times I'm using wacky rigged and get to areas that have a lot of weeds and just take the worm of and rehook it as a weightless t-rig, or vice-versa.

fishing user avatarJoshFromBolo reply :

2/0

fishing user avatarLxVE Bassin reply :

3/0 Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap. NO WEEDGUARD!!!

Dens, i have done this as well just out of convenience or had to rig up quickly and found it works well.   i also like to texas rig until the end gets tore up, then wacky it to get more use out of my worms.

fishing user avatarAll Day Fishing reply :

1/0 OR 2/0, I use two O-rings that overlap each other, and where they cross (makes an X) place the hook underneath there and you don't even have to put the hook through the worm! Works great for me

fishing user avatarNHBull reply :

Owner wacky and also use it for dropshots

fishing user avatarGlenn reply :

I keep it simple: 2/0 EWG.

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

Usually I use a 2/0 EWG hook. If I am fishing with a very skinny worm I will downsize to a 1/0 EWG.

fishing user avatarmattkenzer reply :

Another vote for Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap in 2/0 ....

fishing user avatarBurke reply :

Owners weedless wacky hook 2/0

fishing user avatarfishwizzard reply :

Huh, I am using a #1 or 1/0 Owner Wacky hook.  I didn't realize that most guys go larger.  I don't fish a wacky senko very much at all, but have never noticed any hook up issues.   I do like the idea of using a small EWG hook for both t-rigging and wacky.

Then use a small hook, if that's what you like.  There's no "wrong way" here....

We might point and laugh at you, but you're not "wrong".  :D

Simple is always better. 2/0 for most everything I fish, Until I get into 10in or above worms then I go bigger.
