After the $9.99 Shadow Raps that finally helped my buddies and me dial in on stubborn bass early this past Spring, my next best tackle purchase is a mobile app - "Knots 3D".
If I only used "Knots 3D" to correctly tie the Uni-to-Uni knot I use for my 12lbs flo leader to Sufix braid, the app would be we'll worth the $2.99. However, it demonstrates every knot I'll ever need in 3D animation that's completely controllable.
What has been your most helpful tackle purchase in 2015?
BPS Stick-O's in Green Pumpkin and Junebug. Owner Twistlock hooks. Lew's HM85 rod.
scorpion xt 1000
tatula
the large amount of money ive blown on topwater baits the past month
Alphas SV. Best 200 dollar reel I've come across all these years chasing slimy green fish.
My bigbait setup! It has opened my eyes to a whole new way to fish...and catch bigguns
Keitech Swing Impact 4.8s. I catch so many fish on these it's not even funny
I can't say it's the best for big bass because I've only caught one big bass this spring and not on this lure, but this lure sure is fun to use - the Strike King Cut-R worm. I didn't even buy it, I received a sample pack in my Mystery Tackle Box. They don't sale them around here so I will have to order more. I really like that Cut-R lure, a soft stick bait with that tail is cool. I've been using it a lot and I've been taking with with me while kayak and bank fishing almost every time.
Boga Grip. Worth every penny.
Cabela's Fisherman series Jerkbaits and big 6" double jointed swim baits. Both at very reasonable prices and the Jerk baits work great! (I haven't tried the double jointed swim baits yet)
Texas Tackle O ring pliers.
I picked spool of Tatsu FC at Tackle Warehouse. Expensive but great line. Lures though, Fat Impact from Keitech.
My favorite fish related purchase this year has been my inflatable pontoon boat. It was on sale for $300. I have seen similar ones go for $650 and up. I just get in the water and I am off fishing. It has been great for a few ponds and lakes that you can only use kayaks, canoes, etc. on
My new shimano Stradic ci4 1000
Lews LFS Speed Spool.
and next after that, another LEWS LFS Speed Spool.
Got a steal of a deal on 25 packs of SK Rodents, God knows I'll need them for how easy they tear up!
Also have been more then impressed with the new line of Zodias rods from Shimano.
The shadow rap and Bill Lewis Echo were two lures I was excited about this year and they both have produced for me. Also picked up some anglers choice baits and really like the killshot fished on a jig in stained water, can't wait to hit some clear water to fish it on a drop shot.
T-rigged strike king rage menace grub...
My Speed Spool BB1 just arrived. I'm looking forward to getting on the water with it next week. It feels really solid for a $130 reel (on sale at Tackle Warehouse) and it fits my hand surprisingly well. Hopefully I can pick up some bass/walleye on crankbaits and give it a good workout.
Yamamoto thin senko`s.
Been trying this year to get into some newer and classic baits that everybody uses that I haven't tried yet. These are all baits/techniques I haven't used before this year:
-Rage Cut'R Worm: Been whacking bass on this all year long
-Rage Craw: Great bait for a t-rig and trailer.
-Berkley Havoc Pit Boss: Haven't caught a ton of fish on this, but I really like it.
-Keitech Swing Impact: Great swimbait, I see why everybody loves them.
-Shakey-heads. LOVE these! Used to think they were a deep-water technique, but been whacking bass on them shallow.
Been getting into chatterbaits also, but have yet to catch a fish on one.
stick baits
Brauer Structure Jig with Havok Pit Boss trailer- it just catches big bass!
Tatula
Elaztec stick worms
Jennings ultra scale
Shimano Curado I. Best reel under $200 I've purchased or used.
My best purchases this year-
Rods+Reels
13 ***
Shimano Curado I
Abu Garcia Ike Rods
Lures
Swing Impact Fat
BioSpawn Vile Craws
Rage Craw
Abu Garcia SX3, don't have to much to spend on fishing so this was kind of a splurge for me. I absolutely love it and can easily tell the difference from cheap reels now. Also got into using senkos, have picked up a bunch of those and love them
Probabaly Tatsu. It has kinda changed my mind on what I consider really good line. It is worth the money if only for a couple setups. You were going to spend that $ on some other crap you won't ever use or if you do probabaly won't catch fish with. Just buy it.
Chronarch 51e and the stradic ci4+ 2500
Baits...lc wakebait, mustad kvd triple grip trebles and rage craws
Haven't tried out the rage blade, but my best purchases this year have been a used BPS Extreme for 40 bones and 2.5 size Squarebills. I had about 15 1.5's, and they caught fish, even my PB which is in my avatar, but those 2.5s really get awesome reaction strikes from big bass. They jar that thing and almost rip the rod out of my hand! Its so much fun feeling them whack it, and I've only caught one bass under 2 lbs on it. Most of them have been 4+
I purchased the Rapala Shadow Rap in Shad Color 4'-8' at Dicks Sporting Goods the week it came out. I have caught fish on it every single day that I have gone fishing this year including Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, a gigantic Crappie, and a Muskie. My best day out was 11 Largemouth on it and that one Crappie.
Curado I
Switching from Invisex to Sniper flouro line for plastics combo
Rage Cut R
Mike
Mines a tossup between 2
1. I've become a believer in spybaiting, so the Duo Realis Spinbait 80, 90, and G-Fix 80's are a go-to for me
2. I've recently become a Ned Rig convert, and lawdalmighty, those things work
Most helpful? I dunno.
Most favorite? NRX 852s and Stella 2500HGS (when it gets here)
Zillion 4.9:1
Champion 765CB
Double tail Fat Albert's
I bought a strike king king shad and I'm loving this thing, it runs really shallow and its easy to use in the grassy lakes around here...
Alphas SV is my favorite purchase of the year...so far.

Big bites cane thumper worms
Zoom supper hawg
Mustard danny brower flippen hooks
Tungsten worm weights.
Cheburashka weights. Some crazy Russian idea that makes it easily possible to make swing head jigs with your favorite hooks.

A bag of Zoom centipede worms in green pumpkin color. They have become a lethal drop shot bait in the gin clear strip pits i fish.
KVD Cranks help tons!
A couple "new to me" baits that I have been using this year that I really like and will probably find there way into my regular rotation are:
Yum swimmin' and thumpin' dingers
Yum Sharpshooter worms
Yum Warning Shot
Yum Christie Craw
A couple "new to me" baits that I have tried and will NOT be purchased again, or added to the line up:
Yum Kill shot
Yum Bad Jamma
Havoc Money Maker
Havoc Beat Shad
Big BIte Baits Real Deal Craw
What is the difference between the Kill/Warning Shot? What did you not like about the Real Deal Craw?On 6/22/2015 at 8:49 AM, ww2farmer said:A couple "new to me" baits that I have been using this year that I really like and will probably find there way into my regular rotation are:

To me, the Kill and Warning shot are pretty similar, I like the tail of the Warning Shot better, plus I have caught more and bigger fish on it. Simple as that. I don't need to carry two of almost the same bait's around. Real Deal craw is fragile and expensive (the HD version $5.99 per 4)......usually not a a problem for Big Bite Baits, bit this is not one of there more economical offerings, and it didn't do anything for me that I couldn't do cheaper with my "go to" flipping bait....The Havoc Pit Boss.
Ok, good insight on the Kill/Warning shot. I'll have to try the warning shot out.On 6/22/2015 at 9:39 AM, ww2farmer said:To me, the Kill and Warning shot are pretty similar, I like the tail of the Warning Shot better, plus I have caught more and bigger fish on it. Had some success with chatterbaits, wacky rigging and Havoc Creature baits that I never took the time to fish.
Got a Curado baitcaster and Okuma crankbait rod as well and I have d**n near worn that combo out fishing it they just works great together.
So far its been a cabelas pistol grip for 9$ and a shoe box full of shallow cranks and topwaters and some mepps about 40 lures raps bandits spooks and yum plastics for 13$ at yard sales
Berkley havoc devils spear.
Reels: alphas sv and metanium xg
Rods: NRX 893c, lews hm85 MH/M
Line: sniper
Lures: pit boss, ragetail cut tail worms
I've got a new one! These were BOGO at DSG. I wouldn't buy them for $9 but for $4.50 a pop i said id give it a shot. Will see how they compare. Next Squarebills to try on my short list are the Yamamoto 100 and the Lucky Craft SR series.
BTW Lucky Craft SR Squarebills are 3 for $20 at DSG. Just couldn't pull the trigger today.

Was this in-store or online?
A dedicated ML/clear line rig. It's so nice to not have to be "close enough" on my other setups and the difference is awesome.
Can't argue with $4.50 Arashis. I wish they'd carry the wakes in store.
In store. I got so close but couldn't pull myself to do it. Maybe next time.On 6/24/2015 at 2:59 AM, Djf3864 said:Was this in-store or online?
Pflueger Supreme MGX
Rapala Husky Jerk for cold water
Jackall Cross Tail Shad for dropshottin'
My favorite would be my Dobyns Extreme rod and probably the Alphas SV. I really like the Plano 3700 guide series bag I bought too. It's everything I needed as a coangler. As far as baits I'd probably say Lucky Craft Rick Clunn 1.5s...although I haven't got a chance to use them much, I like everything about them. Oh and Boca Bearing OS7 bearings are another great purchase. Now that I think about it, I can't narrow it down to just one! Lol
This past spring the Rapala Shadow Rap earned a place in my jerkbait line-up, very productive.
I was already a fan of the Strike King Structure Bug, fishing it on a Strike King Jointed Structure jighead is the new part and was responsible for my best outing this season.
The season is young. Ask me again in October!
