For those that use them
Soft plastic's or lipless cranks depending on the rod.
You can fish most of the lures in your tacklebox on a medium action baitcast rod. The only things i WOULD'NT throw on it are:
Small/light plastics
Techniques using small hooks (drop shot comes to mind)
Heavy cover flipping
Jerkbaits, wacky worms, top water plugs just to name a few
Jerkbaits, small topwaters and small squarebills.

^pretty much!
i use mine for topwater swimbaits and misc. flukes and worms medium brush..
1/8 oz and lighter T-Rigs
all my plastics under 1/2 ounce total.
I like the way a M fishes vs a MH
Hard Jerkbaits, 1/2 oz lipless cranks, small to med. size square bills, like bandit 100's or SK KVD 1.5's, 3/16-1/4 spinnerbaits, top water, Small-mid size medium cranks, like bandit 200/300's,SK series 3's/3xd's, Spron Little John MD's etc...., soft jerkbaits, senkos, finesse jigs, t-rigging, drop shotting, C-rigging............and probably more, about the only I don't ue them for is Deep diving cranks, flipping, frogs, and big jigs/T-rigs/c-rigs around heavy cover.
Anything with treble hooks
Shallow to medium diving cranks, lipless cranks, jerkbaits, unweighted (or lightly weighted) plastics, and smaller topwaters.
Tom
Primarily smaller swim jigs, crank baits, and wake baits for me
Hard jerkbaits, small spinnerbaits, flukes, small topwaters and squarebills for the most part. As others have said, it can do a lot.
Mine has my 50E on it with 12# Yozuri. Pretty much my light rigged plastics, or whatever I decide to tie to it. Just nothing for real heavy cover.

x2!
pointers, poppers, flukes, senkos, shakey head, small traps, sq bills.
I have all my mediums stacked up in a corner. I thought I would like them, but ended up hating them for almost everything I used them for. If I throw anything with treble hooks I either use a MH with a slower tip (spooks, poppers, some lipless lures, and hard jerk baits, etc...) or a MH with a moderate blank. (shallow/mid cranks, most lipless baits). It is kinda neat to hear what everyone uses for certain applications though. For example, I throw flukes, senkos, trick worms all on a 7' MH-H rod with 15-20lb line. When downsizing my lures, I downsize rod length, line, and lure weight/profile, but I stick with the same action.
My medium fast casting rod has a 51e on it and is a dedicated shakey head and finesse jig rod. It is my favorite setup to throw.
Which rod would you recc.that is a true medium power (100 and under). My vendetta feels more mh and I have a mh carbonlite already. Id like a different model rod for variety.
This, although my medium vendetta is much stiffer than a normal medium. I can use that sucker for crank baits pretty effectively. On 4/25/2012 at 11:01 PM, piscicidal said:pointers, poppers, flukes, senkos, shakey head, small traps, sq bills.

Falcon Original. Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'10" M-F is $102.07 on Amazon right now, but I got mine for $81 from the same place...a $129 rod.
Just about everything under 3/4 oz.

Im just curious why?On 4/25/2012 at 11:01 AM, jkarol24 said:You can fish most of the lures in your tacklebox on a medium action baitcast rod. The only things i WOULD'NT throw on it are:

Same as my MH, just my smaller lures.I dont flip or fish heavy cover with it though. Spinnerbaits 1/4 & 3/8 oz. 1/4 & 3/8 swim jigs. light t rigged plastics. I dont throw any trebles over 1/2 oz so all of my cranks lipless or billed get tossed on my M as well. I actually like the feel of my M rod over all others BUT nothing beats flipping a 1/2 NSCB Jig n Rage plastic with my MH!
Not sure if Shimano interests you but the Clarus is a bit under 100$ and the 6'8" M/XF is a true M IMO. I just recently broke the tip off of mine (My fault, not the rods). I will definitely replace when i have the cash. Good luck!On 8/29/2012 at 9:43 PM, Diggy said:Which rod would you recc.that is a true medium power (100 and under). I found a seller on eBay that has the Veritas series for 79.99 with free shipping. He ships them in a huge PVC pipe. One of the ones I bought was the 7' medium with micro guides. I couldn't have been happier. I think it's the best and most true medium I have ever had. I loved it so much I have bought 3 more from him. They also provide a true receipt if you wanted warranty work or the free hoodie.
To answer your question, I use my medium for mainly top water. Poppers, small jerk baits. Until I can afford another medium setup, I also use it for up to 5" swim baits with 1/8 hooks, larger senkos, larger jitterbugs.
I was using it for smaller jigs and Texas rigs but it just seemed to much for the tip. I moved up to a 7' MH fast tip and am very happy.

I love the veritas, I have a mh but it seems the power is under rated, it feels like a H and I assume M feels like a mh

Denali Jadewood spinnerbait rod. 6'6" MF, feels pretty accurate to me. Runs $90 I think
thanks, coincidentally I was looking at their rods on tw lastnight and the review on tackle tour. I see much talk about them on here, never used one in my life nor seen one in personOn 8/30/2012 at 10:50 PM, Flywatersmallie said:Denali Jadewood spinnerbait rod. 6'6" MF, feels pretty accurate to me. I had to move up to a Heavy for my 1/2oz jigs. The MH was just about right but I wanted something more stout to through 1oz if I needed to.
Plastics, Cranks, Squarebills, Lipless, Weightless plastics, Jigs, Spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, dropshot, shakey head, poppers, props, Texas Rigs, Mojo Rigs, Light C-Rigs, Small swimbaits, minnow baits, twitch baits... Pretty much everything.
