Anyone know of deals going on for this reel? I just missed one a month back for $99...
Thanks,
VC
I know Tacklewhare house has some at that price, but they are the 51's
Bass Pro has em online for 119 I think.
Thanks guys

If they did, the price changed. It is $119 again. Darn! I would have jumped on that train!

Got me excited there for a second... just checked and they're $149.
Yeah, I've seen these prices start climbing again. Maybe Shimano figured out everyone was going to start buying up the old Curados.
If you can find a 50E by all means get one. I purchased one around 3 months ago and had it tunned. Can not really tell a lot of difference between it and the Core 50 I have in casting distance and retreive. The Core feels a little more refined and really has a better retrieve but the Curado is close.
There is one on the flea market for $110.

I bought it for $110 delivered.

Still don't see the excitement over the 50..... the 200 just fit me better.

And I couldn't stand the 200E. Felt really wide in my hands and wasn't smooth at all on the retrieve. It was a great reel, honestly, and if I fished tourney's for a living you can bet the new Chronarch's would occupy my rod lockers, but for recreational fishing it just wasn't for me.
Traded it for a 50E and will never look back. The 50 is a very, very special reel.

how light of a weight can the 50 handle? I'm debating buying either one of the 50 sized reels or a new spinning reel for finesse plastic presentations.

They were on sale. I guess they stopped before you could get to 'em.

I have 12# Vanish on mine and it will cast a weightless Fluke without a problem.
Well, I own a few Shimano reels...
The E50 compares favorably with the Core 50MG.
Almost sad, but true.

Yep, I recently fished a 50E next to a Core 50MG7. The only difference (to me), was that the Core was a tiny bit smoother on the retrieve. Certainly not enough to justify the price difference.
Like I said, the Curado 50E is a special reel.
/still Vinny if have too don't shy away from the 200 if can get for a deal! I love my 200E5 but good luck and your search and wish you the best!! Let us know if find the deal for 50E or what you settle with?
I have a 51E for sale on the flea market for $110 TYD.
I bought it from American Lagacy (have receipt)and it is NIB. I only took it out to look at it and don't like the smaller size fit in my hand. Looks like a nice reel other than that.

I am not shying away from the 200 series at all, in fact I have about 6 all together. I just like the 50e for my pitching and jig rods. They fit so nicely into my hand and I don't need to extra line for those techniques.
Pilgrim,
Looking for a righty, but thanks for the heads up.

Hayden, call me and I will meet you somewhere to fish. I have my 50E supertuned with bearings and drag upgrades. She is nice!
Had a Core, sold it; currently have 3 51's. The Core was absolutely gorgeous though, unlike the painful hunter green.
Btw, looks like Academy is going to be selling the 50's for $99 on Black Friday.

I used my Curado 51E for the first time today. Would have to find the package, but the lure weight was either 3/16 or 1/8 oz. The reel was mounted on a 6'6" Medium Falcon Elite. It zinged it out there quite a ways. Better than what I've been able to do with my Alphas ito on a Zillion 6'6" Medium Extra Fast rod. Reel didn't require as much concentration as the ito does to achieve that distance without fear of overruns either. Impressed me! The ito has 8 lb. P-Line CX and the 51E 8 lb. Trilene XL.
DVT cleaned it for me before I spooled it with line. I forgot to have Mike upgrade to Carbontex drag while he had it. Can't say how it handles fish. First I have to catch one. Fishing has really sucked the last 3 times I've been out.

I agree with the ugly green color. That and the small knobs are the only things I find wrong with the reel. I really do not like the small knobs. I wish it came with a 4BB handle with the Power Grips, and a much different color. Anything but green!

the 200E is a great reel, i have one and it is amazing, it is very smooth on the retrieve. the new chronarch is the same as the 200E just with a different paint job, and a few tweaks and a higher price tag. you can check if you want but the 200e chronarch weighs the same as the 200e curado
I like the looks of the Chronarch a lot but at twice the price I'll fish the Green one. At least until the monkey tells me I'd catch more fish with the White one...
Like Hi Salenity asked, is that Academy sale on the curados going to be online?
I have no idea if Academy will have them online - my recommendation is to call them. Here is the add scan:
