Quantum Energy PT E760pt? 2025

fishing user avatareyedabassman reply :

I can pick one up for $100! Is this a good bait cast reel and a good price? I never used one and I think they redoing the PT for 09. Or should I shop around? ::)

fishing user avatarStrike King reply :

I bought an Energy BC at Dicks for the same price as my Christmas present. I casted it a few times b4 the lakes froze and have flipped at alot in my livingroom. but so far no full on fishing yet. I like it soo far tho :-)

fishing user avatarretiredbosn reply :

I have an Accurist PT and like the reel a lot.  I know that the reel was reviewed over at tackletour and it recieved as high marks as the Shimano Curado.  I'm in need of a new reel and found the same deal as you, and will be taking advantage of it.

New, it would be a fair to good price if that 100 already includes tax or shipping.  Used and you can probably do better.  I have this reel myself and never had any problems with it in the years I have had it.

It would be $100 + tax, they have 3 in the display case at Gander. ::)

fishing user avatarStingray23 reply :

Check Ebay. I have 3 energy Pt reels and love them. I got them for $90 each brand new.

fishing user avatarLAO162 reply :

Before Christmas, $99 was a pretty standard clearance price for the Energy PT.  However, there don't seem to be many left.  I got lucky & found the Tour Edition for that price at Cabelas (plus a coupon :) ).  If you like the reel, you have to weigh the potential of getting a better price versus having them sell out.  Cheers!

fishing user avatareyedabassman reply :

Now I found out that I can get this reel for $85+tax. :) :) :)

For that price, its definitely worth it. I picked up an energy early this past summer months for  $69.99 and I loved it, unfortunately I had it stolen at the ramp along with another $800 worth of gear a few months ago >:). I also bought a tour edition for $115 (free shipping) off of ebay a few weeks ago. If you're interested in spending a few extra bucks they're great reels for that price.

Bingo!  Now you hit value territory :)

fishing user avatareyedabassman reply :

I went to buy it today, looks like a reel smooth reel. I am thinking of getting another one.

fishing user avatarSimp reply :

Dicks has this reel on sale for 79.99. Simply do a dicks coupons search on google and you will find a 10$ off 50$ coupon to make it 69.99. My dad and I both bought one.

fishing user avatarejtaylor822 reply :

I have several that I have been using for a couple of years.  They are very nice.  At $70 to $85 that's a good buy considering that up until early last year they were selling for $180.

Also look for good buys on the Pro Tour.  I bought two new off ebay for $110 each.  They were selling for $220 couple years ago.  The Pro Tour has 11 bearings.  To be honest though, the Energy casts almost as well.  Love both of these reels.

A couple months ago I bought the Quantum KVD reel and love it. I just realy prefer these brake systems over magnetic. I just had my second tourney this year with the KVD reel. I ended up coming home saying I have to go get another KVD Quantum because it casts so much further then all my other reels. It just handles light jerk baits so well. Then my dad handed me the Dicks ad with the Energy PT for 80$ and I knew I could get a 10$ off coupon to make it 70$. One other thing is that these are the E760PTs reels. The only difference is these are made to handle salt water and don't have the pretty cover. At least that's what my local Dicks sold me.

I just bought this at Dicks - though I didn't know to get a coupon. The reel itself (or box) does not have the "saltwater" logo, nor the part number of PTs. However, the user manual that is in the box is for the PTs or saltwater model.

The Quantum website no longer has the 760 specs, does anyone know how old this reel is?

fishing user avatarTriton21 reply :

I have 3 761s. I bought the first one about 3 years ago and just couldn't turn 2 more down for the price I paid for the first one. Love them. I'll tell you how they stack up against the Revo STX HS L after the Ky lake trip.

Just a word of caution, I would be careful on the saltwater use.

The finish might be salt/corrosion proof but the internals may not be.  There might be gaps in the spool, crank, ACS knob and other mating surfaces where salt/sand could get in.  Most saltwater reels have gaskets and seals that protect salt and sand from entering.

Quantum is very specific about saltwater.  They have a line of spinning, baitcasting and casting reels dedicated to saltwater that are pretty much built on the same frames as the upper end freshwater.  I would really research before I took a "freshwater" reel in saltwater.

Just my $.02.

I got one the end of last year....After a few trips it got pretty "grindy".  Its with the reel mechanic now.

Well I'm about 1000 miles away from saltwater so I guess I'm good. :)

fishing user avatarCWB reply :

These were on sale/clearance at Dick's for $79.99 and had a $10.00 coupon.

By the time I got there they were gone. Keep checking E-Bay

fishing user avatarstalbans_bassman reply :

I returned the Energy PT back to Dicks today. I have been baitcasting for 3 years, so I am no expert - but I know how to use a casting reel.

First cast, the spool "whined" extremely loud - it was actually embarrassing as a lot of other people fishing near me were laughing. Every cast whined, and every cast produced the birds nest - I kept trying different settings, but I realized I wasn't going to make the noise go away no matter what.

I think I am going to get a Revo SX instead....

fishing user avatarBassin_49er reply :

I have a few of the Quantum tour editions (te1161pt) and love them. It is smooth, can toss light and heavy baits. Check ebay for a great deal.

fishing user avatarIzzy3374 reply :

Great reel.  Never used it but I have the PT TOUR from 08.  And I love it.  As far as I know the only difference between the Energy and PT for 08 was the amount of bearings.  And for 100 dollars.  I would say do it.

The MSRP on that when it came out was 250$  Its a top of the line reel.

See a lot of pros with em too.

I did some searches on this and thats the ACS brake and after the brake in it no longer whines.

fishing user avatarIzzy3374 reply :

Yeah my PT Tour whined a little bit when I first got it.  Now its silent other than the Sufix braid making noise.

I've heard the gears on the Revo SX are bad.  I was told by a guy at Bass Pro that the gears will get torn apart if you fish heavy cover, were you pull in 3 pounds of fish with 15 pounds of weeds.  I would have stuck with the Energy.

fishing user avatarChiCityBasser reply :

I just picked up the E761PT LH off ebay for $68 and guess myCabelas Prodigy will be in the flea market soon. I already had a Quantum Accurist PT which is very smooth and if this is just as smooth I won't be needing another B/C for awhile.
