Does this make a good spinnerbait rod?
The power and action would be too light for my liking on a spinnerbait, or most single hook lures for that matter.

What rod do you usually throw a spinnerbait on?
A MH/Fast
Currently aSt Croix AvidX.
But I also have two Brailists that I would use too.

Do you have diablo spec R?
The FSS wouldn't be my first choice for a spinnerbait rod.
The Spec R works fine if you don't mind the length.
The Witch Doctor Surman 50G is about as good as it gets for spinnerbaits and moving baits in general.
I have the spinnerbait special and the destroyer daemos. The daemos is a great spinnerbait rod.

No I don't.
I currently have the Levante 2019 Flatside and Braillist as well as an Orochi XX Braillist.
FSS is ok but not great for spinnerbaits. Spinnerbait special would be my choice. I have a diablo spec r gen1 i use for bladed jigs. Awesome rod for them. Would make a good spinnerbait rod too but i prefer spinnerbait rods a tad shorter for targets.

Which model? Medium or medium heavy?
Ive never seen these on TW.
If memory serves me correctly the old spinnerbait special was just a shorter DSR. If you don't mind the length then the DSR should make for a great spinnerbait rod.
Diablo Spec R or even the Daemos would be nice.

You wont see them on TW only direct from Witch Doctor.
I have the 6ft 10 MH . It's a great spinnerbait rod but I also use it for walking baits and stick baits like the Mcstick and Vision 110.
It's a graphite/glass blend blank. Great craftmanship.

Never heard of Witch Doctor but i'd personally buy a MBR G Loomis or Diablo Spec R

How is the balance?
Seems fine. I use old Citica E on mine and it's right in front of the reel nut.
MB Diablo Spec R will be hard to beat as well as the 843C MBR GLX
The diablo is an intriguing rod to me, but from what I have head it is really a MHF rod. More of a texas rig rod in my hands then a spinnerbait rod. I definitely prefer softer rods for reaction techniques. I have never handled an MBR loomis, but it is tough for me to imagine wanting to use a texas rig Stick for spinnerbsits.

Loomis MBR is awesome!

GLX 844 or 843 MBR are very versatile tapers. Enough give for a moving bait, but when you lean into it, plenty of tip for a jig. Similarly, I have a Zillion 7’2 MH/R with those characteristics.

hows the reel seat
Some people don’t like it, but I have no problem with it and hold it a couple different ways depending on the lure.

Love the reel seat. Complaints are primarily just nit picky people
I use that rod and like it for many treble hook techniques.

I have a pair of new model GLX rods and I am 50/50 on the reel seat. Some reels are comfortable but an equal number have not been so. I 100% love the power/taper combo of the mbr rods though. Between the various mbr and cr lines I have 6 of them and if I was honest with myself I wouldn't need anything else.

Good point, I didn't like the SV103 on it, but enjoy a Zillion SV TW on it.

Care to elaborate on the specifics of the reels you have tried?

Didn't like: Steez SV/A, Steez LTD SV
Meh: sv103
Liked: Alphas, 15 Alderbaran, TD-Z, Millionaire/Ringa
The reels I didn't like either pinched my pinky or placed my pointer/middle finger right on the lock nut where I would worry it like a loose tooth.

So mostly small reels worked well.
