What's Your Dream Drop Shot Rod??? 2024

fishing user avatarBassAssassins14 reply :

MONEY NOT BEING A PROBLEM!!!

fishing user avatarrangerjockey reply :

I really dislike fishing a drop shot but where I fish at times you pretty much need to.. The loomis NRX DSR 822 is good .

fishing user avatarncbass reply :

There is no better rod than a Dobyns DX 702sf.

fishing user avatar5fishlimit reply :

I'm happy with my St Croix Premier ML/F and Pfleuger President spinning reel setup for this technique.

fishing user avatarbassboy107 reply :

I'm happy with my 6'8" medium fast mojo bass (wacky rod) I know that they have a specific drop shot rod but i just don't like a lighter rod.

fishing user avatarGrantman83 reply :

Dx 702... Oh wait :-)

fishing user avatarTywithay reply :

Zbone 7'0" ML. It's as sensitive as an NRX, with a better action.

fishing user avatarS Hovanec reply :

No need for it to be a dream, I already have it. Custom St Croix. 5s69mlxf.

fishing user avatarHoosierHawgs reply :

Money not being a problem? Probably a custom Gaffight. They are local rod guys, but too expensive for my taste.

fishing user avatarBasshunterJGH reply :

MB destroyer evoluzion c40 elseil. Paired with a Stella fi of course. Might as well if money isn't an issue...

Depends if you prefer action or sensitivity.
fishing user avatarJrob78 reply :

I would like to try one of the Megabass Hedgehogs.  I don't really drop shot much though.

fishing user avatarOntarioFishingGuy reply :

7'6" ML/XF Legend Elite. Paired with a Certate 2000 and 5lb Power Pro. Dropshot heaven...

Have that rod in SCIII with TiSiC guides. Hated it til I put braid on it. Didn't have enough balls to stick a smallie with straight fluorocarbon.

fishing user avatarAlpster reply :

I'm living the dream with a Loomis DSR 820S GLX.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

I don't DS much so I'm pretty happy with my 6' 10" ML/F LTB and Pfluegar Supreme XT :)

fishing user avatarChrisD46 reply :

What ever A-Mart is currently using ...

fishing user avatarJoe Schmuckatelli reply :

Shimano crucial drop shot rod 6'8" medium xf

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

Unfortunately it is no longer made...

Previous generation Shimano Crucial 6'5"

dropshot rod.

fishing user avatarThe Next KVD reply :

I got a custom St.Croix SCV 6'10" ML/XF spinning rod paired with a Shimano Sahara 4000 spooled with 10lb Suffix 832 and 8lb P-line 100% fluoro leader that is the best I've used up to this point and doubt I can find better.

fishing user avatarbmlum415 reply :

Dobyns DX 702. There's a reason I have 3 of them.

fishing user avatarTrey Harpel reply :

The one I'm using....DX701C with a daiwa Pixy SPR, 4lb line.... Love this combo and its a blast to use...

I have had a MB Aaron Martens spinning rod with a Daiwa Exist steez 2004 and that was a killer combo, but Im not a fan of spinning..

fishing user avatar.ghoti. reply :

Trey, that looks like about as much fun as you can have with your pants on. I used to follow the same path; albeit at a bit lower on the food chain. A 6'9" ML-XF LTB, Alphas 103F and #6 XL. In a fit of stupidity, I sold the rod. I now use spinning gear for drop-shotting; a TD-X 6'10" ML-XF and  Supreme XT reel and the same line. It's not as high end, or quite as much fun as my previous setup, but for no more than I drop-shot, it's plenty good enough.

fishing user avatarWIGuide reply :

If money was no object I'd have a St. Croix Legend Xtreme 6'9" ML/XF with a Revo Premier 30. Since money is an object though, I'm more than happy with my LTB 6'9" ML/XF and Premier 30 combo.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

Money no object, one that comes with a guy that can retie my rig perfectly in about three seconds.

Since we're dreaming big, why not a Hawaiian Tropic gal to tie rigs? Then it won't matter how long it takes.

You make a good point.  She can also carry my man purse, and not look silly.

Hey do you know how the Dobyns DX 702 Sf compares to the Megabass Orochii XX Dropshot/Stinger Shot?
