I've not owned a curado/Chronach/Citica I... however the Curado 200e7 is my favorite reel.

They are great reels and I have a few. That said, I like the I series better. To me, the I palms better and has a better connected feel than the previous versions. It's probably going to be hard to find a new 200E.

A year ago I was at a Walmart that had brand new citica ds es and gs so I wouldn't say he couldn't find one.

And if you do, be ready to pony up more than it's worth.
I have several E series and a few of the new I series. IMO, the I series just feels tighter and better connected like Jrob said. If you get a good deal on a used E series then absolutely pull the trigger, but if you're buying new, I'd go I series all the way.

I agree with Jrob and Bluebasser, the I is a better reel than the 200E and I know it's not worth anything, but I think that the I is the best Curado ever made.

I've never used one of the newer Shimanos. I do have a Curado 201E7 and Chronarch 100B. Offhand I couldn't tell you how they compare. Never fished them side by side, although I am planning on it this February. What I can tell you is they are both excellent reels. Hard to backlash, but I don't use them with light lures since I have several other reels set up for those type of lures.. Both of mine are spooled with 12# mono and used on MH rods. Casting distance is quite good. I seriously doubt you will regret getting the 200E7.

I used to be a HUGE fan of the E series reels, citicas, curados, and chronarchs. That is until I tried the curado I and Chronarch CI4+. They just feel much more refined. Didn't think it could be possible since the curado is no longer made in Japan but I have yet to have an issue with mine. Slowly upgrading all my E series to I series. Not looking back, but to each is own.

I have an E, G, an I and a Chronarch 100 sf.
Other will disagree,
But If I needed one to bomb a cast I'd take the Chronarch...
Needed one for close in heavy work I'd chose the G...
If I had to use just one for all day casting I'd chose the I...
However, if I was to buy another I'd look for a new unused Japanese made E and pay whatever they wanted.

Dude, the E series in my opinion is the best Curado ever made except for the exclusion of a 6.3:1 gear ratio option. The E5 and E7 are easily some of the best reels I've owned to date. I like them better than any Chronarch E or Curado I. I saw a comment about palming....listen, the E is small and palms very well....how micro do we need to go folks?.....Just my 2 cents from my experience. Get one!! You'll be pleased.
I've owned all of the reels you've mentioned just so you know where I'm coming from. All great reels but the E's are special.

The chronarch e and curado e are the same reel.

The I is the real deal, especially for the $100 price tag for lightly used ones.
The E is very good, but for the price, I like the G's better.
The D's are bulletproof solid, but doesn't seem to do very well with lighter baits.
The B's I feel are big and clunky. I'm sure it was well ahead of its time when it was first released, but I don't own any of them any more.
I have 1 D, 2 G's, 3 E's and 3 I's, all Curados.

The palming has nothing to do with size, it's the shape that makes the difference. Like everyone has said, the E's are great reels and most of us own a few. I'm also a big fan of the Curado 100D.

In my opinion the I's are the best curados made so far with the E's a close second. I agree they just feel better built.

If you always wanted the Curado 200E in a 6.3:1, you need to get a Shimano Scorpion XT1500. It's the same reel in a different color and its 6.3:1.

Thanks John, very true. I do have one of these on a Poison Adrena rod and I absolutely love it. I will be getting more of these reels for sure! Casts like a dream and very hard to backlash!

JapanLureShop ran these for $120 a few months ago. Sold out pretty quick. Added it to my cart a few times but never pulled the trigger...still kicking myself over that. I have owned a 1500-7 XT and 1000XT in the past and loved both of them. I sold most of them plus my Curado E's for I's but now I have added 3 Curado E7's and 1 Curado E5 back into my lineup. I wanted the newest, and while I do like the I very much, I can't seem to get away from the Curado E. Such a proven winner that you can't go wrong.
Also, I have a Curado G7 and while I know a lot of people don't like them, I actually do. It is not as good of a reel as the E and I, but for heavier baits like hollow body swimbaits and big spoons it does the job extremely well.

I am just commenting because I saw the mention of the Scorpion XT. This reel is flat out awesome. I am enjoying mine like crazy.

Bigger, but I don't know as I would call them clunky. Define clunky. I can put up with the 100B's size given how well it casts. Have a couple other larger reels (compared to today's options) that I won't sell until I have to for the same reason. However, if I have to ever get rid of some reels, the bigger and less expensive ones will go first.

Not sure why guys drop so much on E series Curados still. There's plenty of other options now. Not as refined/ connected. Difficult to put into words why I don't like them as much.
I fish 300 and 400 size reels too, btw.
I might have a couple RH 100B's for sale if you're interested.

Yeah I don't know why the curado E's go for so much either when you can get the I new for around $125 to $150.Maybe its because they are not made anymore

Some people don't like the new break system on the I series, that's why people pay more for the Curado E than they had to before the I came out.

The E being Made In Japan may have something to do with it.

Can't give you the exact number of reels currently in my basement, but it should be close to 50. Right now all I am interested in is trying 3-4 that I don't already own. ***, Daiwa SV, Optimus XiHS. Were I to buy another new reel of a model I already have it would definitely be either a Helios Air or Primmus. Preferably both.
