Some of us that have aquired a pb have gotten it on a specific lure or bait certainly. And whatever rod/reel combo you had that you caught your pb . I was just wondering if you still have that gear, lure, etc. you caught your pb with and if you still use it ? I myself don't have any of that, would be something to have and reminisce over with that pb . That was 31 yrs ago though and lost it over the yrs .
Still remember it like it happened yesterday catching that pb and what lure too. I know i used a spinning rod/reel combo but can't remember which brand it was. So do you still have that gear, lure, etc that caught your pb or not? and do you still use it ? some might not use it because sentimental reasons, first pb and all , and some might continue using it and doesn't matter either way if they use it or don't.
like your thoughts on this. And like i said ( wish i had my gear tackle ,etc..) you don't think about that stuff until its gone. only thing left is my bass on the wall , Thank god.
Yup still have it all! Heck I was using the same jig I caught my PB on yesterday... A lot of the paint has come off the head lol
Yes I have the baits & the rod/reel I caught both bass PB's on. Smallie & largemouth. Once you catch a PB on a particular bait that bait becomes a big fish bait to use again.
I caught mine on a 6" spro BBZ floater, that bait catches way too many fish for me to retire it! Fishing gear is made to catch fish, that's what I use it for!
Still have the rod & reel, but the hook, weight & Roboworm were soon sacrificed to a sunken Christmas tree.
Lure, no. It was a ARig I borrowed.
Rod and Reel, yes sir.

lol yes indeed
I still have the rod, reel, line, and lure. In fact, I was fishing with it yesterday!
Berkley Lightning Rod, LR16 5'6", Abu Garcia Ambassadeur XLT Plus, Berkley Trilene Big Game 12 Lbs, Rapala Shad Rap SR7 SD. With the exception of the line I still have everything, it hasn't been decomissioned, just not used as much as it was.
1994 or 20 years ago since I caught my 19.3 lb FLMB. Still have the Lamiglas Ti705 rod, Daiwa TD103HTSA reel, both retired now. Don't have the exact custom hair jig, however still fish with the same 7/16 oz hair jigs in the same colors and same style pork rind trailer. No longer use P-line CXX 12 lb line.

No longer own the rod or reel I caught my PB largemouth on, still own everything I caught my last PB smallmouth on down to the crankbait it ate.
I might still have the rod and reel, I don't really remember what I was using. The bait was a RI Sweet Beaver, so I obviously don't still have that.
Only memento is a jig head I caught my first tarpon on, it hangs off the hat I was wearing which I don't wear anymore.
Yes.
Both Lmb & Smb PB's were taken quite recently so I have the gear.
I will say that every time I see or use the lures that I caught them on, it always makes me smile.

Light/fast action trout Rod, 6lb line, jitterbug. I still have everything.
ABU Ambassadeur 5000, 5'6" Lew's Speed Stick and a purple Mann's Jelly Worm. Still have the reel, broke the rod years ago, and the Jelly worm is long gone.

Use the same rod and reel. Changed the line last year, but used line off the same filler spool. STX-L with 40# Sufix Performance on a Falcon 7' MH Original. Still fish 10" unweighted worms, but not that particular one.
PB Smallmouth was on a RoosterTail. No longer have the rod or reel or that particular lure, but still fish a RoosterTail occasionally.
Still have the rod and reel, but unfortunately lost the bait.
Still have the rod and reel (the PQ 5-Year Challenge test reel) in service. The bait used (1/2 oz lipless crank) is on disply in the den/office/bunker/man cave.
Still have the bait but the rod and reel both broke
PB Smallmouth - 7'M Spinning - Shakey head and mag shakey worm
PM Largemouth - 7'M Spinning - Drop shot
I'm a tackle hoarder, of course I have everything
Not really. Rod broke, got thrown away. Reel broke, I still have it but don't want to fix a crappy reel. I lost the jig shortly after, as well.
rod? --> yes (7' skeet reese glass rod)
reel? --> yes ( evercast "navy" reel)
lure? --> yes (bandit pumpkinseed squarebill) only caught this one fish, it was immediately retired, but i bought 2 more to replace it...
line? --> uh no...
Mitch
Still have the rod, a Loomis MBR844IMX. I regretfully sold the reel, Curado 50E. The worm was a Bass Assasin worm in Red Shad.
I still have the rod and reel. the lure was a zoom lizard, Texas rigged. The rod was a MH xf 6'8"st crioix avid with a shimano stradic. I was using 6lb pline fluoroclear. My fish was 10lb 2oz and I still dream of it.
Thankfully, my tournament fishing partner was wise enough to question me after I took my first cast with my jig that had just on the previous cast caught a 13lber. I looked at him, cursed, and reeled it back in quickly, cut it off, and shoved it in my pocket. It now hangs over the top of a printed photo of the fish and I am grateful that my buddy had the brains to tell me to save it. Rod and reel, no longer do I have, but the bait, you bet I do (helps that I made the bait myself).
I have no sentimental attachment but have rod and the reel is on a different rod. Lost the crank bait.
Trashed the line after a few trips, then snagged and lost the bait, sold the rod, sold the reel.
