Intervention Needed ! 2025

fishing user avatarWorm Man 2020 reply :

ROD:St. Croix: TBC71MF, 7'1", Medium Power/Fast Action, SCIV Graphite/FRS, IPC & ART Technology, 10-17lb., 1/4 -5/8oz.

REEL: Shimano, Chronarch CI4+, 150, 6.2:1 ratio

$855.00, counting warranty and Power Pro 20lb.

This Is, why, I have not ever been on internet my 55 years on this planet ! Now, I Know what; (Be carful for what you ask for, you might get it!) means. You guys helped me out, and made me the fisherman I am today...

Having felt the lite-weight on this set-up, I'm going to have to learn how to fish all over again ! And sell my boat !

Question: Anyone needing roommate?

NO, just kidding!!!!!

Real Question? Is that the Glass/graphite rod?

Any comments on best rod tubes, would be greatly, appreciated.

P.S. I sleep with it under my pillow.

fishing user avatarLogan S reply :

How are you getting $855 out of that?  Retail prices are $260 for the rod and $270 for the reel....Don't fall for the in-store additional warranties, St Croix has one of the best warranties in the business.  You shouldn't need an additional warranty on a reel either.

That is a graphite rod and a very good choice, I'm a big fan of the LTB series...But you need to check those prices!

fishing user avatarEricTheAngler reply :

I dont know man :D all I know is that I feel like I spend to much on fishing as it is.

fishing user avatardeaknh03 reply :

please tell me where you paid that much money for that gear, I need to make sure I never visit that site. I just found that combo for $485 and it took me 3 minutes.

Don't let overpaying dampen your enthusiasm for treating yourself . In the future check in here prior to purchase and you'll get pointed in the right direction for deals on good stuff. Enjoy!

True...spoken like a retailer! Just kidding, your right, next time check with us and theres plenty of help here.

fishing user avatarkcdinkerz reply :

I don't think that is a composite rod, look to be graphite. You can pick up rod socks for pretty cheap at bps or Wal-Mart.

Heard That !!!

I'll be calling you for those custom rods, end of March. Once, I see what, I do or don't, like about these ones. Do I get discount for Two?

On-line suppliers would only introduce me to "MORE STUFF" at better prices. This site only cost me??????? (I'll Be Surfing soon!) Once, I get the names & models of better equipment, with my Bassresource families  help/guidance.

The $485.00 was probably what the rig cost, add in line, warranty. Oh, Looking at BPS receipt; that was 2 (two) Shimano Chonarch CI4+.

My mistake, YOU GUYS,had me worried there for a minute!!!!!! Ya'll have created a MONSTER!!!!!!!! Winter shopping sucks.

Logan S, so I'll take that, as this is pretty good stuff?

Hey, How about those Custom Tubes/Cases?

Priceless.

So you were charged for 2 reels??? The rod and reel already have a warranty, no need to fall for the store bought warranties.

That's still way too much, even for 2 reels and a rod, to be honest.

I've seen travel tubes for two piece rods but haven't seen any for one piece 7+ foot rods you could always go buy some two inch pvc tube and make your own will have to leave out reel tough.

my mistake, reading from rod, to post right specs./ I did get, that extended warranty also. Got me on that one.

Boat mechanic finished tin-can boat upgrades, SWEET!!!!!

Figured, I'd send, the rest of my fishing budget, on better rods/reels.

Don't need much now, DVT is going to make me, two custom rods, thinking of getting, even better reels. (to let my Buds, use), when we are fishing.

On-line. Getting produces, you actually picked out and paid for, secure web-page/sites, first time surfer...

What on-line sites, do my band of brothers, buy their rigs?  I thought, shipping would be crazy?

Thank you, appreciate your time and opinion.

Sweet, I wondered, about that length, When to local seminar and a vendor, had a stack of 6'6" square PVC type tubes. For $5.00 each.

I did get his contact info. I like how your thinking, couple two together and that would work.

Thanks,

Lol sounds good. That enthusiasm tho.

:)

Ebay is a great place for reels and I've had some success there with rods as well. Average price tends to be at least 15% lower than MSRP, often even lower.

fishing user avatarRaul reply :

So, you just spent $855 ...... not bad for a single purchase :wink3:, let´s put an example, when Daiwa´s TDZ was being discontinued it went on clearance in several places, not the absolute best price but Cabelas´ price @ $250 a piece was not bad considering it was the only retailer that had all the versions available, I got me 2 103H and 2 105H, compared to the original MSRP I didn´t do bad, from $350 to $250 I "saved" 400 bucks ! ( of course after spending a grand ).

FYI, don't ever take your wallet into a Bass Pro Shop, Fold money in half, that you're planning to spend, place in front pocket and spend 4-6 hours in that place, in Washington, D.C. it's massive. They break you down by attrition.

I thought Ebay was people selling their stuff? Yard sale/flea Market site. They sell new items? Thought is like bidding house?

Giving away my age. sorry. You know, what you are looking for right? By that, I mean makes and models.

Ordered something from manufacturer and freight was like $150.00. Man, I drove there, cheaper for gas and meals then freight.

I'll check it out.

Thanks again,

P.S. I'm going in!!!!!!!!

Brother, that was me. Listening to two older gentleman, talking about some Potomac Club, needing boat members, another couple of dudes talking, how much better this lure, was over that, lure.

That's, when I happened...Do you want your reel spooled, what kind of line, Do you have your VIP card, (Good for 24 months, 20% off, all BPS merchandise, after you buy a boat)

They gave me a BPS Credit Card....10% off just for applying speech, wrote account # on pamphlet, and BANG!

Press hard, there are 3 copies......Didn't even look.

I wanted to hang out some more to, get to hear the rest of the fishermen's conversation, still had the Grand in my pocket, I felt the need to leave, and drive right pass the New Casino, built right behind the BPS.

Thought I did pretty good, still had my Grand + equipment, Right!

A.M. was going to register reels and mail off free offer something, BANG! I spent, how much!!!!!!!

That was funny,

Sirs, Thanks for sharing that, So I'm really not alone? LOL

TD-Z are older Daiwa models.  The 103 and 105 refer to spool sizes with the 103 holding more line and being a more all-around reel.  Because it has a shallower spool and holds less line, the 105H handles light lures better.  I mainly use my TD-Z 105H reels for 1/4 oz. or less.  Many consider the TD-Z platform to be one of Daiwa's best ever.

Raul and a few others probably can tell you what the H means.  I can't.  Either because I got into baitcast reels after the TD-Z had been replace, or because of ignorance.
