Anyone heard any rumors

I wouldn't be surprised to see micro guides show up on 2 - 4 production line rods...
im gonna be spending so much money in july. ive been saving for 2 months already
time to start playing poker and earning some money...

Mg50 will be released at ICAST...google Shimano Aldebaran for pics (it's jdm cousin.
Daiwa is rumored to be releasing a new Daiwa Fuego casting reel made of the new Zaion material. Should be super light weight....this is the one I'm watching.
Shimano is also said to be releasing a new high-end rod....placed on notch above the Cumara line.
I'd love to see a Chronarch LH crankin reel. As for the Aldebaran, wouldn't this run in direct competition with the Core?
No...the Core is the Chronarch 100mg. They just put a cooler name on it. The Mg50/Aldebaran is a smaller reel. So instead of the Chronarch 100mg and Chronarch 50mg we had a year or so ago....we will have the Core and Mg50.
Gotcha. I never knew we had a 100mg; that answers my question. So the Chronarch line will look something like this?
50: Aldebaran, only with an American name that starts with C.
100: Core
200: Chronarch D
Correct me if I am wrong Natural.
been reading around that daiwa might be putting a Zillion Mg out....something to compete with the new Mg50/Aldebaran at the $350 price point...hmmmmm :-X

More like:
50- Domestic Aldebaran
100- Chronarch D
100Mg- Core
I also heard something about some new crankin' Cumaras.
Has anyone heard anything else?????

looks like an easter egg ;D
that aldebaran is a light reel... was thinkin about gettin 1 on ebay but maybe ill wait and see what shimano does.
when did quantum get a hold of garcia? lol
You guys do realize that Icast is not open to the public right? Plus none of the vendors are selling at the show. Icast is for buys and sellers to make and take orders and to show off their new products. And for the press like Glenn to report to the public what they saw at the show. Most of the products showcased at Icast arent availible for sale untill a few months after the show.

That's actually Ryobi's original concept...

Yep, that's the truth. I already know of a few baits that will be introduced at ICAST, but I've been sworn to secrecy on them. Sorry. I've been trying a few of them already, and I can tell you there's some real winners coming.
That said, I will be posting about them as soon as the embargo is lifted (most likely at ICAST).

And to think I just had my reusable shopping bag monogrammed 'ICAST 2009 or Bust'!

thats what you think..we all have secretly created an organized crime ring on here,we payed off the security at ICAST,now time to crash the events..bwhahahahaha!!!!
Its not that hard to get in but you still cant buy stuff. You need to get a pass. If any of you guys are tight with your local tackle shop you might be able to get a pass as a buyer through them. Or if any of you are sponsored you can ask your sponsor for a pass. The show itself is big and its pretty cool with a lot of new stuff and all the pros are there walking around and talking with people. The one thing I didnt like was some of the products that won awards were realy bad. Like the rocket pole and those rock weights. Lot of big meatings going on and lots of moey being made. I'm still Bummed I didnt get to meet Glenn and Big O last year. I am not going to this one because its in FL. Vegas is too much fun so I have to go when its there, problem is I alway gain 5-10lbs when I go to Vegas. MAN THAT BUFFET AT THE RIO!!!!!!
I hope strike king rolls out a knocker red eye in rayburn red, and tillapia. As for new reels mine still work just fine.
I saw some release on a some new lines.... hi-seas Quattro Fluorocarbon line, a 4 color camoflagued fluoro. I've used both their fluorocarbon, and the original Quattro line when I go out in saltwater (this line is all over NJ for offshore stuff). It looks really interesting!
Berkely is putting out a line like the Vanish transition too...transoptic or something. It looks like the same thing as the vanish, only in a Trilene version.
I'd really like to see Shimano and Daiwa put out some of these japanese versions. I was lucky enough to go to Australia last summer, and there are some CRAZY reels there, but we will never see these in the US.

The "Best of Show" awards at ICAST are all about who runs the best campain, NOT what the best product is. Who ever hands out the best spiffs & beggs for the most votes is going to win (for the most part).
An actual rock as a sinker won last year... 'nuf said.
Like mentioned earlier, I'm very excited to see the new additions to the cumara lineup, especially the reaction lineup
The LEI Structure Scan add-on for the HDS units is supposed to be "officially introduced" at ICAST.

If you think the buffet at the RIO is good, YOU HAVE TO TRY THE BUFFET AT THE BELLAGIO next time. I personally feel its way better. their lamb chops is so good its not even funny.
The hot place to eat for this year's attendees will likely by Charley's Steakhouse. But I don't think you'll see quite the same attendance as you see in LV.

I'm new to fishing and wonder what normally happens to current model reel/rod prices after ICAST? If I was planning a purchase, would it be smart to wait until after ICAST and see if the price drops?

Icast is a preview of what is to come just because it is at icast, doesn't mean it is available immediately after
Typically some models of rods/reels that aren't going forward will start to drop in price after ICAST. But that's only if the new models will be available shortly there after.
However both BPS & Cabellas have already dropped the price on the Stradic Mg (it's being replaced).
I see zoom has a new color called key lime pie and it looks nice, they will probally sell a lot of them!
QuoteI see zoom has a new color called key lime pie and it looks nice, they will probally sell a lot of them!
I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure that color has been around for a while. I remember seeing it at least 2 years ago.

Key Lime Pie is hardly a new color.
I am going to Icast as wholesale buyer, certain exhibitors take pre orders, but retail sales are prohibited. What really is a bummer is that photography and videography are prohibited on the show floor, so I can't share any pics here on the board, maybe someone here has a press pass that allows for that.
