It's called the Tatula 100. It is rumored to weigh 6.9oz and looks to be a lot smaller than the current CT reels. It looks like what Daiwa learned in shaping the Steez TWS has been applied to the new Tatula.

That looks to be based off of the current Steez SV TW and Steez A frame. That looks like a great reel! Best wishes on the water!
It's either really small, or those are huge hands!
Of course I just bought a couple Zillion SV TW reals a few months ago!! Very interested to see what the specs and variants will be of this reel.

I have big hands and his thumb is bigger than my arm!
Why not just flush the dial? It is ported for it must be a prototype.
I also hope they learn from there previous model with the fuego. As they utilize a common line guide that it didn't require a wider nose like the t wing. It would be way more compact.
But most likely Daiwa will just use same platform.
Nice. Sign me up for one or six of them.

The T-wing is here to stay for sure on their mid and high end reels at least. Not really any reason to go back unless like you said they wanted an ultra compact reel and wanted that smaller reel nose.
A look at the non handle side plate and mag dial.

So this is like the Tatula SV TWS?

No, Magforce Z Tatula in a new smaller platform. I'm sure an SV variant is coming down the pipeline at some point.
Ignore the SV Concept in that pic. It is from another banner on the Daiwa site that was grabbed by the screen cap. It's actually for some Daiwa soft plastic worms meant to be neko rigged. No idea how that is SV Concept but whatever.

Maybe it works well with the SV spool? Who knows? I’m interested in buying this but I don’t know what I’d use it for.
There's only 2 beefs I have really with the tatulas of today... 1 I think they could be smaller and 2 I wish they would recess and partially cover the brake knob. Both are minor things and it looks like this reel is going to solve one of these in spade.
Tyler, the SV spool will be added to the lineup eventually. It has nothing to do with that picture, just unfortunately placement lol once its implemented it will work just fine, I'm sure.
I can confirm the MSRP on this reel will be $159.99
This reel might very well be a game changer if they took into account all that customer feedback about the dial, size, price, etc.
What else is Daiwa gonna drop at icast?

That's a shame. I'm itching for a new HLC to be dropped at some point
Pretty sure they unveiled several new rods as well
I don't get this smaller reel craze...am I the only one who finds small casting reels uncomfortable?

They are gonna have a new Tatula series of rods coming out, with cork handles that look sweeeeeeeet.

Nope, me too. I don't palm reels so it doesn't bother me how big they are. I use 200 and 300 size low profiles for swimbait fishing and it doesn't bother me. I really just care that the reel balances well with the rod.

I had to get rid of my Curado 50's and 70's because they hit a nerve in my palm by the base of my thumb that is really uncomfortable after a couple hours of use. I don't have huge hands but I don't have any problems palming my old 200B Curados either. I might try one of these, but I'm afraid I'll have the same problem unless the different shape avoids hitting the same spot.
While it is small, the new steez frames palm better than any reel I've ever held. If this reel is based on the steez a frame it will sell like hot cakes....or senkos.

They a dropping a new line of tatula rods as well. They are supposed to have cork instead of foam grips. All the other rods are for saltwater.
I just got a Tatula CT and spent a Steez in upgrades ????
Now, I’m going to need one of these, too ????????????
Guess this is what this cap (that I preordered) comes from
New Tatula rods to go with the new Tatula. The rods supposedly make use of a higher quality cork in the handle.
The reel is on the Daiwa site along with a video.
How small is this thing gonna be? Same size as Alpha? I might consider it base on line capacity, even though I just got two of bantam MGL.
Looks very similar to the frame on my Steez A, aside from the brake dial. Definitely has my interest.
I hope it’s basic shape is like the tatula ct. I had an ss sv and it was very uncomfortable for me to palm.

Is Daiwa taking a page from Shimano´s Ugly handle nut retainers book?

Yeah I was pretty interested in this thing on its specs and frame design. But some of the cosmetics are not to my tastes. Feel like it needs spinners and some airbags!
I will wait for the fuego version

Same here. I just picked up a couple for 60 bucks, I can't believe how smooth they are.
Any info on spool size? Wondering if any current SV spools will fit. I wish they'd release the variants at the same time and price them accordingly.
Always frustrating to buy one of these and have the SV/Type-R variant come out a couple months later.
