They have clearance sales often that drop to 75% off, only problem is they don't advertise them

Yea i stop in here and there to look for the liquidation sales. Over the past two years ive got hundreds of rapala crankbaits for so cheap...

I hit GND MNT up for their sales, on the way home I pass a DSG and I resisted the urge to go in and see what they offering. Sounds like I better get back there.

Scored 2 St Croix Premier rods $24 each during one sale. Thought it was going to be around $50 for one but rang-up half the sticker price so went and got another one.

Dadgummit if you aren't the SECOND dude that has scored unreal deals on Premiers. My buddy fishes his Premier all the time and loves it. Got it for $24, just like you. Every time I look for a deal like that at DSG's they don't have 'em.
In fact, the only Croix's I see are Triumphs now.

Oh man, I cleaned out their stock of havoc hawk hawgs and devil spears. I got 20 bags for less than 20 bucks. Also got some xr-50 crankbaits for a buck a piece. I love how they clearance their crap like that. Win win for me!

I was in there today and saw all the clearence on fishing stuff but I went in for the 50% off of all camo clothing!! $100 jacket for $50 ill take that anyday

This past summer I picked up a Shimano Sahara 2500 for $30 from DSG. Gotta love their sales!!

The one near me has a somewhat limited selection and I hardly ever see any clearance deals on rods or reels. The only st croix rods I've seen there is a small rack with 8 or less triumphs and a couple of mojos. I have never seen one marked down. I do come across deals like recently their xcalibur products were all marked down 40% off or so...and you might find one color of one particular crankbait for 30-50% off here and there. Sometimes they have an additional 50% off sign up and you can get a good deal but your selection is exremely limited because it only applies to item prices ending in .97 or something like that....and that never seems to be the stuff that most people would be interested in.
Not to mention that everything is on the wrong hooks and you have to read the bar code numbers on the tags to tell what the price is to begin with. They never touch the fishing department...I've seen stuff that's obviously damaged, set aside on the rack and a year later it's still in the exact same place on the same rack. I've stopped going there for the most part because it's just not worth the trouble putting up with their nonsense and awful customer service to get a deal.
Oops...now I sound like angry typing guy on a rant. hahaha. Oh well.

The local DSG here had the new Koppers Live Target craw CBs on clearance for 2.99 each over Christmas in almost every color pattern.

I got some of those live target craws during that sale too. They only had 4 hooks with those on display so the selection was slim, but I bought a selection of what they had. I've never used them before but they have a great look to them....even down to the packaging. I'll be giving them a try as soon as this ice melts.

Im pretty sure they watch me very closely when I got to DSG. I go in there at least everyother day. They probably think Im stealing everything but as you guys mentioned they dont advertise the clearance stuff. I swear it changes everytime I go in there! Cant help but take a look.

I love when Dick's has those surprise clearance sales! I got 3 Curados last year (two different stores) for $75 a piece, and a 45lb Minn Kota transom mount trolling motor for my little jon boat for $65!! Even the wife knows when that is on, and I'm on to it, just pass me a credit card, and get out of the way!

I got in on the premieres when they had them on sale. They cost $39 each,bought 3.Right now our DSG is pretty much empty. They let the inventory go down to nothing every winter.

The last good dick's sale i got in on was for an avid and a few curados that cost 100$ or less each. Since then I can't seem to beat the folks that flock to our dick's to get the good deals fast. We carry such a small selection of wanted items and a large quantity of stuff nobody buys often that it's hard to get there good. Another Dick's near me has LC pointers/sammys that seem to run at 14.97 + 50% off quite a bit but I can't ever seem to get there before they are cleared out.

Most of there clearance stuff is not things I use, but every year (or so it seems) in the spring the local ones will have a 2 for $10 sale on GYCB. I make sure to take advantage of that. Even when they are not on sale, they are one of the few places around that still have Senkos for less than $7 a bag, I think they are $6.49 regular price, so I always grab a few packs when I am there.

My DSG has chopped their fishing inventory in half. I too got some killer deals on clearance but they don't carry much anymore. My local Walmart has almost got more than DSG!

Ive noticed mine restocking the shelves lately. One thing that kills me with the local DSG is they only seem to carry Zoom soft plastics with salt. No unsalted Zooms

You can ask the fishing department to order in unsalted for you. I'm sure they'd be more than willing to do it.

Wish I had the same luck as you guys with DSG. I guess I have Obama to thank for fishing not being ethical or politically correct anymore. They just put in a new DSG by me and they don't even have a fishing section. The other one by me has about 2 aisles SMH. I took about a 45 min drive to the DSG with the biggest fishing section around me and was disappointed they had everything I wanted except none in the right color

My DSG told me they cant order anything special,everything they get in is ordered by some guy sitting in an ivory tower. Dude probably has never held a rod in his hand. Sad sad sad. Heck,when I got my st croix's, the morning I went in there they didnt even know they were on sale. I asked the manager if they were on sale for 39 bucks because they were on the east coast. He about laughed his ass off,so I ask him to scan one....presto 39 bucks. He about fell down. LOL

I didn't think other people noticed that either. the ratio of salted to unsalted zoom products is like 9:1 and we have about 3/4 of an aisle dedicated to zoom..

Exactly! I love that they carry Zoom, and otherwise it seems like they have a good variety.

The Dicks Spoting Goods around me changed the sale idea. They sent a flyer with a coupon that said take an extra 50% off storewide clearance ending in .93 and .97, but on back said shimano, St. Croix, G. Loomis and some other brands excluded.

I went to my DSG. Man have they reduced their selection. Didnt find any good rod deals. Ended up using a gift card for some Rage Tail and Missle baits for super cheap.

JMO-i doubt that they will be out of business but they will not be selling fishing and hunting equipment--my store is heading there real fast--smaller and smaller hunting and fishing sections--bigger golf and clothing sections--JMO
