Cajun Red 2025

fishing user avatarpowerman970 reply :

I know what I like but I don't know why.  I am interested in finding out if anyone else in here uses Cajun Red fishing line.  I use it and like it but it seems like it is never mentioned on this forum.  Has anyone else in here tried it and if so what did you like or dislike about it?

fishing user avatarMike-in-WV reply :

Actually we just discuessed this a few days ago, well maybe a week ago. ;) Anyway there are several of us who love the stuff. I like the #17 Cajun Red casting on my casting reels and #12 on my spinning reel. Never have tried there lightening line but others have told me it's not near as good as the casting line. Mike

I think it's junk!!! It's too wirey (is that a word?) for me. JMO

;)

fishing user avatarGrey Wolf reply :

Actually it has been discussed quit a few times over the last year.Quit a few people seem to like the red cast.

as i have said before,if you think it's wirey you purchased red lightning and not red cast.red cast is the most manageable best casting mono made imho.

fishing user avatarMike-in-WV reply :

dodgeguy, I'll second that! ;) Mike

fishing user avatarfishbear reply :

I use Cajun red for my casting rods that i use for  topwater, and any lure that I want to give that fish the 3 count before crossing their eyes.  It helps with the stretch in the mono, because sometimes I am quick on the trigger, lol.....

fishing user avatarguest reply :

HORRIBLE< CAST INCLUDED!

fishing user avatarTokyo Tony reply :

I spooled up one of my baitcasters with it last year, and it looks really cool.  After the trip I took it all off because I don't like it.  Wiry and stretchy.

I still have it spooled on all of my spinning reels....as backing.  It does a pretty good job at that  8-)

fishing user avatarCFFF 1.5 reply :

does any one know where you can buy a 1/4lb spool of the cast. I can only ever find it in the 300yd spools. I have been using the lightning and it just doesn't work well on my spinning reel.

dodgeguy has been fishing this line for some time and has consistantly posted very positive comments. If you decide to give it a try, be sure to buy "Red Cast" as he has suggested. This is the line dodgeguy specifically recommends so it is very important that you buy this line and not the other.

8-)

These threads are kind of funny because no matter what line you ask about someone is going to love it and someone is going to hate it. One person will say it's to stiff and stretches or cast bad, others will say it has no stretch, not stiff and cast great!, ;D Mike

That's the way it goes!!! ;D

;)

fishing user avatarpowerman970 reply :

Oh well....I guess that is why there are so many lines on the market.  I am using the "cast" and I love it.  I just wondered what you guys thought.  Thanks for the input it actually went about the way I expected.  Some love it, some hate it.

Don't know if they make a smaller spool than 300 yards. It's less than $5.00 at Walmart. If you don't like it use it for backup or give it away ;) Mike

fishing user avatarMike-in-WV reply :

Gotta tell you guy's, the more I use this Cajun Red Cast the more I love it! After about a month I decided to re-spool with it today even though it probably didn't need it. As soon as I spooled I went out back and gave a try. Beautiful long flawless cast with 1/2 oz. spoon and #17 test. LOVE IT !!! ;) To you guys who don't like it! :) :)

fishing user avatardodgeguy reply :

cabela's has 1/4 pound and 1 pound spools.

fishing user avatarguest reply :

Cabelas pro line is far better then the Cajun Red Cast, it's all I use. I use to spool with  Stren but there is no differnce in performace between Cabela's Pro Line and Stren I have used all 3 lines and for me Cajun Red Cast was a huge dissapointment

Muddy, what is it that you don't like about it? It's not expensive, It cast grate for me, it's defiantly strong, no problem tying knots even with the #17 stuff. It sure doesn't seem to have any bad memories. I just don't know what more you could ask for in casting line. ;) Mike

fishing user avatarguest reply :

I used the 12 # when I was new to bait casting. I figured it was because I was new or the spool was old. I bought a new spool and had one trion loaded with the Cast the other with pro line. The cast was stiffer, had major memory issues and the other rig just cast better. The reels were identical and they were both on the same Fenwick rod. The only difference was the line. I am just more satisifed with the Pro Line

fishing user avatarguest reply :

PS AT MY AGE I HAVE WORSE MEMORY ISSUES THAN ANY BRAND LINE

fishing user avatarFish Man reply :

i cant get past the whole red line disapearing thing, thats why i wont ever use it, for the water i fish id rather use a clear or green colored line that will blend in
