Hey everybody
What's the best jig rod in yalls opinion?
Edge Mag Bass 705-1
I like a long one 8' to be exact. I've had more expensive rods but I keep coming back to these
7'11" Rage
7'11" Veritas
And my new favorite is 8' Villan, I like the long rear grip for casting.
Keep in mind if your going to use a leader you'll want larger size guides.
Dx 745.,..
NRX
have it as well. Excellent rod.On 7/4/2014 at 10:24 PM, Grantman83 said:Dx 745.,..
"Best" is purely an opinion. You'll get great ones here and its for you to decide whats best in your hands.
Dobyns champion 734c or the 735 both great rods I tend to lean towards the 735 but both are great choices.
Another vote for the DX745, absolutely love it. Works great with a Chronarch CI4.
But it is mostly subjective, two of the best jig guys I know hate each others rods. Key is finding what you like
This is going to get a million different responses. Most of what I've heard is that the nrx is the most sensitive rod right now.

Your wrong the NRX comes close but is not on top.
That 745 sure does the trick for me. I'll switch to the 744 for lighter jigs and footballs.
OK.On 7/4/2014 at 11:38 PM, CJV said:Your wrong the NRX comes close but is not on top.
I like the G Loomis GLX jig and worm rods...
Currently, my favorite jig rod is a Fenwick AETOS 7'2" MH. I'm pretty certain that if I had means to get into Loomis rods, my opinion would change. If I had the means to get into Megabass rods, my opinion would probably change also.
I've not used them all so I don't know which one is the "best", but I love my G. Loomis MBR 844c GLX for jigging (I have two of them)

I use a 7'11" rage it's a d**n fine rod!
NRX 893c for 3/16-1/2oz

If you are going to tell a guy he's wrong, then at least have the cojones to put your opinion out there.
I just got the GLX version of the 844. I haven't caught anything yet but it is sweet! On 7/5/2014 at 1:12 AM, jignfule said:I've not used them all so I don't know which one is the "best", but I love my G. Loomis MBR 844c GLX for jigging (I have two of them)
Which is best? For what weight range of jigs? and at what price? You can have a custom rod built that would probably run you a pretty penny that would crush about any factor rod out there. I rely on the Champion Extreme series, the NRX series, and the Megabass Orochi XX lines of rods to handle most of my jig fishing needs.
With the Rep Sample pricing on the NRX rods I would probably go that route if I could swing it financially. Most of the rods are at or under $400.
DX745

Yup, it's on top.

I hear good things about the Phenix K2 blank. It's supposed to be at or above NRX level. We'll see when the production rod comes out, eh?
I've never used the GLoomis but the way all of the guys keep talking that Brand up I'm going to have to try them soon, I hope they are not as big of a let down as Dobyn's was. I'm sure everyone know's what I will list......Duckett White Ice is the best I've used so far but I'm going to be buying a GLoomis very soon. I'll have to see what everyone who has used them has to tell me first though.

I haven't seen a custom rod builder who has measured a k2 verse a NRX blank. The people I have spoke with graded the k2 about equal to a NFC HM and a SCIV using objective measurements.
It would be costly stripping down an NRX, however it would be interesting to see its strength to weight ratio and how it compares to the high end blanks available.
What is best depends on you and how you fish jigs.On 7/4/2014 at 7:47 PM, fhsfish said:Hey everybody

IF you flip jigs you want a 8' heavy flipping rod, pitch jigs you want 7'6" medium heavy pitching rod, cast jigs in 3/8 to 1 oz you want a 6'10" to 7'4" heavy or 5 power jig/worm rod.
How do you fish jigs?

I cast 1 0z jigs no problem with my 7'11" down on ky. Lake... Workin up and down drops.. I think it's a matter of capability as well... As usual, personal preference always factors in . I also use 7'5" heavy and 7'1" heavy.. So there ya go.
