Just got my Curado 50E in the mail the other day. Spooled it up, and too it out for a trial run yesterday. Why I didnt buy one of these a long time ago boggles my mind. I love my 200E7, and now I have the best of both worlds. Now I can use my E7 for my frog rod so I can muscle those pigs out of the weeds and grass. Caught 5 bass yesterday around 2.5 lbs each, and had a blast with this little reel. Perfect to use for my plastic swim baits (paddle tails, flapping worms, lizards). Best $120 I spent yet. Everything in the box was brand new, I found a good deal I think. Why someone would want to sell this thing I have no idea, but I know I benefited.
Great reel and tremendous value!
They are a great value reel! I have a couple that my wife knows about!

i thought my 50e was great...but then i dropped in a set of boca bearings and that baby is flat out amazing now.
And how many doesnt she know about? LolOn 2/14/2012 at 10:43 PM, 00 mod said:They are a great value reel! I have a couple that my wife knows about!

You done good.
You paid too much! No fair posting about your catches while I'm unable to fish.
Just kidding. Paid less for my 51E, but wouldn't feel cheated if I had to pay $120 for another new (or mint) one. Got mine spooled with 8 lb. mono on a 6'6" Falcon Elite Medium. The combo does an excellent job of casting lighter weights. Not a Pixy, of course, but I am very satisfied with it. Just wish I had considered having a bearing upgrade while DVT had it for cleaning. From what others have said, I'm sure I would be even more thrilled by its performance.
Everyone should own at least one. I even bought one for my wife and kids. someday I'll tell them about it but until then ...fish on!!!
Yeah, those are great reels!
I bought one for my buddy recently. He loves to fish more then I do and he had a really rough/tough year. I told him he was the ugliest fisherman I know so, I wanted to make sure he had a good looking reel.
I did have DVT put in bearings and upgrade the drag on my 50E. Awesome difference it made! Glad you like the reel and are enjoying it!!

I got my first 50E a couple months ago and I had the same impression....It's just fun to fish with. I crush the bass in my backyard throwing flukes on that little 50E/M power Avid/20lb braid. Most of em dinks but I have a blast doing it.
I liked the feel of yours that you showed me with the handle, thats what inspired me to buy one.On 2/15/2012 at 9:51 PM, piscicidal said:I got my first 50E a couple months ago and I had the same impression....It's just fun to fish with. Nice. So did I inspire you to buy a handle??
What type of bearings are you guys putting in the 50e's?
The bearings being referred to are ABEC7 ceramic hybrids. My usual suggestion is to first deep clean and properly lube a reel which would include flushing the stock bearings. These steps alone make a huge difference. Next, Super Tuning and bearing upgrades would be considered. The advantage that can be gained varies from reel to reel as well as user to user.
A Super Tuned 50E with ceramic bearings and a Carbontex drag will run with much more expensive enthusiast reels.

YEP!
Awaiting production to put that baby to the test and get some more cranking power out of this little beast. On 2/16/2012 at 2:55 AM, piscicidal said:Nice. So did I inspire you to buy a handle??
I just looked up on Boca Bearings for the ABEC7's on a Curado 200e7 and they run almost $100. OUCH! That is about what I paid for my reel new on closeout.

Not sure what you looked up but for the E7 you should only need to upgrade 2 bearings, they usally run about 15 each. Get with DVT I am sure he can get you fixed up.
Ya, you probably were looking at full ceramic which is overkill for a reel. You may also have looked up the complete reel kit which includes crank shaft and any other bearings in the reel. Upgrading anything but the spool bearings is not necessary. The Curado takes 2- 3x10x4 bearings for the spool. The Boca Orange Seal Ceramic Hybrids are $14.95 ea. (less 10% for members here).
It's my favorite reel, webertime was a fool for selling it to me soooo cheap, LOL
Stop........Webertime (insert MC Hammer dance)
I'm constantly looking at the 50's, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Are they that much of an upgrade for lite lures over the 200e's? My main fishing hole is a mile hike through the forest and I'd love to be able to leave the spinning rod at home to lighten my load. I usually have to throw lite when the water is crystal clear.
Actually the 200E is just as good. A little bit of oil and tuning and no problem. I am now using the 200 for my frogs because its a 7 ratio to muscle them, 50 is now light plastics along with my Abu Revo SX. The 50 for me just feels really nice in my hand

It depends on what you call lite. I throw a weightless fluke on 12# fc without a problem
I agree. I have smallish hands and the 50 is just more comfortable. I will be looking to replace most of my current reels with 50's during the year.On 2/17/2012 at 8:20 PM, LgMouthGambler said:The 50 for me just feels really nice in my hand
I use 6# fluoro, or 4# Yo-Zuri on mine, and it will launch a weightless worm a mile. (Of Course, paired with the right rod).
I currently have mine paired up with a Powell Max 6'8" M/XF and this is my crown jewel for finessing em' out, and it's got a lot of use this winter. I highly recommend both, especially paired together. It's a match made in heaven, even the colors match. The green trim on the Powell compliments the 50 very nicely and vice versa.
