With over a third of the nation in the triple digits the next few days, is there anyone who still fishes in the day from the bank? If so:

1)What lure are you using?

2)What situation (i.e. shallow, deep, open water, submerged moss/ weeds)

And most importantly.......

3)ARE YOU CRAZY?

Just kidding about that last part. Besides getting hot quickly and staying that way until a couple of hours after sundown, I'm having problems locating the bass now. I get one or two here and there. Mostly small bass. I mean like 5-6 inches small. These are the times where I would love to be the stereotypical fisherman and tell a whale of a tale. But, there's no honor or reward in doing that. 80% of the bass I have caught in the last 2 weeks have been 4 ounces or less. Often I wonder why I even bother bringing 3 rods, 2 jigs, and 5 bags of various soft plastics when I end up catching them on a Yum Dinger (with and without F2) using a ML 5'6" Shakespeare Bass spinning combo spooled with 8# test.

Before anyone asks, I have read the articles concerning summer fishing and for the most part they assume we're in a boat. They also assume that we're having a normal year. It hasn't been here in Northwest Georgia. We pretty much went from fall to late spring early summer. There was no winter to speak of and spring was almost non existent. Now we're having late july/ early august temps in late june.

Point being, I believe the bass' behavior are wacked out. Either that or I'm having trouble making the right adjustments. Does a water plane count as a boat?........................

Early, late or night is definitely the call for shore based bass fishing in the extreme heat... When there's miday wind or the water gets dingy, often shallow cranks and Spinnerbaits will get you bit on the winded shorelines especially if there's access to deeper water nearby.

Close to you in Bama I have had my best luck in the morning and right before dark. I normally start out in the mornin g with a topwater, then switch to a soft plastic until I get hot and ready to leave. And then just the opposite in the afternoon. I normally try to get out there at about 5:30 or 6PM. Start out with a soft plastic and when I get tired of using that I will switch back to topwater. I have done pretty well doing this but just get out there and experiment...What works best for me might not work as well for you and vise versa.

I miss my Spook. Guess it's back to poppers. Also means that there's no reason to bring my baitcaster. My spinning combo handles poppers much better and in a lot of ways it handles soft plastics better.

I can find them easier in the morning. Evenings are a different story. This evening I stuck to the northern bank pitching a smokin rooster into the weeds (and just outside) and then went back making longer casts. Nada. I'll try a different section tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks, guys. Like I said, I believe it's a matter of me readjusting.

I'm in Tucson, so triple digit temps are the norm this time of year. I definitely stay out of the mid day heat, its just too much. I do stay out in the morning until 1130 hours though. I find that when I'm on the banks in the heat of the summer, the bass are as hot as I am. I have had almost zero luck throwing into the open water with search baits.

This time of year, I go light and use my spinning set up to hit the bank structure. If there is a bank with reeds, I'll throw a soft craw bait, TX rigged against the reeds and let it fall. If there are fish there, they hit it either on the way down or after the first twitch. I find that the larger fish tend to get the prime cover real estate. If there are any spots along the bank with overhanging branches, toss a weedless set up so it hits the branches before hitting the water. My limited experience has shown that that sort of presentation will almost always get a good bite.

I always wear long sleeved shirts and a large brimmed boonie hat for cover. If it gets too hot, I'll soak my boonie with water. Good luck and I hope this will translate to the noga waters.

Sounds like a good time to fish vegetation. It has been working well for me lately. Green plants produce oxygen during the daylight hours fish need. But won't find me out in the triple digits of midday lol.

This may be the only time I'll ever say I'd rather live up in your area than down here. It is just ridiculously hot right now.

LOL, Eric. For a change it's actually cooler where you live than here. Glenn put me up a couple of months.

One issue I have is finding the green vegetation. With the exception of a few snot looking slime every now and then, most is fairly brown. Also, it would figure that as soon as I start trying to get away from soft plastics and learn the other lures, I would have to revert back to soft plastics.

Thankfully, I did better than May so far (only by 1). It was only cause I made it to my favorite point a couple of times. I don't know though. Despite me not fishing as much this month I've not done too bad.

110 here (South Central KY)yesterday. 107 today. Fished from 5:00 a.m. - 11:00 this morning and we just couldn't find them. Hubby caught two dinks and one keeper and I had one dink. Barely got any bites beyond what we caught. I believe the extreme heat has just shut 'em down.

My buddy George caught 3 dinks between 8:30 and 9:00 yesterday evening on a watermelon Zoom Swimming Fluke. It seems to me that the bigger bass (by bigger I mean 1# or greater) are playing it smart and staying relatively deep and all the dinks just don't know any better.

been catching solid size bass the last couple days with a northstar jig black and blue with a match rage tail claw. it has been working mircales for me.. caught my personal best here in northern va friday after noon with the temp at 105 and 115pm on a spinner bait. the hawg even straightend out my spinner.

mainly have been fishing the outer edges of the weed beds and the fallen tree here and there if i can find any

I fished a small tournament yesterday. High for the day 105. 24 anglers, two keepers (16") weighed in. This is a lake I know well and have have been catching decent fish on lately, until the weather was turned to "broil". My partner and I zeroed for the day. He had one good bite that we lost at the boat. Everything else was just small fish. On the positive side, the night bite is pretty good. It's too hot to fish during the day anyway!

I have a 1/2 ounce and a 1/4 ounce black/blue jig and have them rigged with netbait's chunker munker. one black/blue flake and one sapphire. nada. i really need to save up for the rage craw, rage lizard, rage shad, and the rage space monkey.

I think we've got roughly 5000% humidity to go with the heat. It's nasty. I was down working on my saltwater boat today and was absolutely drenched in sweat by 10:30.

Come home and put the little boat in the lake out back, surface water temp....91.3. Yeah. It's gonna be a rough summer. Most of the good grass in the lake is turning brown. I've had to resort to picking off open water schooling fish. Blegh. Nothing but jerkbaits, spoons, and other silly stuff that doesn't involve flipping.

yeh u really cant go wrong with rage tail i have nothing but good things to say about em.. i have been trying to find the rage space monkey shad and lizard but my local sporting goods store just carries craws and the chunks just the color black and blue?! i need some variety lol

Yeah, I know what you mean, Eric. Georgia gets that way too and I use to live in North Carolina. There even the low 80's can feel like some vegetables took revenge and put you in a steamer.

JSPOON, the only place locally that I have found rage products is one that only carries 2 colors in smokin rooster and 4 colors of anaconda. The rest I'm just gonna have to break down and buy on BPS. It'll be about a $50 order to make the delivery charge worth it. So it'll take me a bit. This is where I wish I was good enough for tourneys so I might could make some of my money back. But, I have a long way to go.

yeh im about to do the samething. bass pro shop is about an hr away from me so i might have to make a trip down there one of these days. im waiting to buy a boat so i can try a couple tourneys and see how i like it. only if i get promoted then ill splurge on a bass boat lol

June was the 8th consecutive month of below normal temps and above normal rain.

99 degrees here and humid. i would certainly trade u that temp and the rain with out a problem. We in northern va have not had a good amount of rain the past month or so lake and pond water levels are lower than normal. even the creeks that feed into the ponds and lakes some of them are dry

It's 91 right now but feels like 98. We're at 63% humidity and fallig pressure, 30.10. Wind SSE at 18. It's 73 inside the house though.

I'm getting the boat ready and will be on the water fishing by 6pm until dark. I have a tourny in 3 days so I need to find the fish.

I got out there late, was fishing by 6:30. I was scouting out some areas I usually don't fish during tournaments because I have certain "go to" spot, but they haven't been producing good enough lately.

I got one at 3 pounds on a white Senko. Hooked another one about the same size and left. Both fish were in 3' of water.

I moved across the lake and put 2 more in the boat using rattle trap. Both fish went for about 3 pounds total. Depth was about 8-10'. The were super warm, like they were in a sauna.

I'm going to try and get out tomorrow to do some shore fishing if this humidity would go down! The air is so thick and uncomfortable right now. Hopefully a good ol' drop shot will work for me and I can at least get a couple dinks.

LOL! Stop, Glenn, you're killing us. We managed to get about 2 hours of rain Sunday night/ Monday morning. But it's like giving someone in the desert one little drop of water. Monday night the darn storm went right around us. We're slated for afternoon and pm storms and they're scattered or isolated at that. Which means we may not get much in the way of rain. It is supposed to drop down to the low 90's though, so that will give us a little break. My a/c hasn't been able to handle the day temps. It's been in the 100's in the house. Landlord said they would put a window unit in for us. Can't wait to see that electric bill.

i did some shore fishing last night at a local pond around 7 was out there for 2 hours caught 7 nothing big in size around a pound give or take.. 5 on my spinner bait till i over casted and tossed it in the trees lol .. and 2 on my shakey head w/ black shakey worm..

but also as ur stated the bass were super warm.
