Me and a buddy keep track every year and I wanted to see if anyone else knew how many they caught for the year.
Personally I finished at 315 bass of various species (300+ LMBs with a sprinkling of smallies, rock, and spotted bass).
*Disclaimer* I fish mostly golf courses, and small ponds so most of those were in the 1 - 2.5lbs range.....not many lunkers at all.
How'd you guys do in 2017?
I don't know total numbers for 2017, but I do remember my best bass fishing trip of my life happened in 2017.....
I broke my PB 5 times in four days... The five that broke my previous PB that trip were: 12lb 8oz, 9lb 4oz, 9lb 4oz, 8lb and 8lb. I had a 34lb 8oz bag one day, then a 35lb bag the next day and then the final day I caught just one single fish the whole day, but it was a 12lb 8oz gorilla!!!
I'm smiling ear to ear just typing this and remembering that trip!
I culled 150 bass out of my lake this year to thin the herd so the fish's average size would improve. I'm sure I released at least as many as I kept , and that doesn't include fish caught elsewhere. So , at least 300 bass.
That doesn't include other species that I don't track at all.
It was a fairly good year for big fish.
(not if you compare to 18ranger ) but I got one over 8 , and one over 7. several more over 4.
I would only be guessing at 200 bass, 10 pike, 10 walleye, and well over 1000 panfish
Definitely less than previous years. Simply didn't get out
as much... No numbers, don't always keep track, so they'd
be inaccurate.
No clue as to the total numbers but it was a pretty good year.
Here's a few.

2 or 3 ????
435 bass and pike. 100+ snook
5 over 5. 2 over 6. 1 over 7 (my pb) I only fish a couple times a year.
Notable fish we're a 5 and a 6.5 (my pb) and a lot under 4 lbs. A handful of rock bass and a handful of smallmouth.
4,627 total fish, mostly largemouth, but also some other species as well. I also caught 4 of my top 5 biggest bass this year, and my pb flathead of 45 pounds, on an 8 pound mono leader no less.
Crappie, sunfish, and largemouth bass totaled 182. It was kind of an off year. No muskie, smallies, or spots in 2017.
Total | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | |
2017 Total | 376 | 110 | 95 | 71 | 100 |
2017 Total Over 1 Pound | 48 | 15 | 10 | 10 | 13 |
Average Fish/Day | 2.10 | 2.00 | 1.94 | 2.09 | 2.44 |
This was the first year I kept a fishing log. Included in the summary above is by PB @ 7-4. I typically only get to fish for an hour during my lunch break so the Fish / Day numbers are actually Fish / Hour.
It was a good year!!
I kept track one year and found it to be more than I wanted to do. I caught 2,776 bass that year even with it being a slower than average year due to extreme drought and not fishing for bass during most of July and August.

Dang man that's an average of 12.6 bass per day. You must have 100 fish days.
I don't keep count but it was more than last year and that's alright by me.

Haven't hit 100 in one day yet (bass anyways), but I did get 99 once last year. I fish about 240-260 days a year (mostly shorter 2-4 hour trips) which makes a larger than average number of fish very attainable. Finesse helps to
875 for 2017, a down year due to less trips and a lower catch rate
Edit - actually, I forgot to include the bass I caught in the spring on a trip to Georgia & Texas (63) as well as the ones during our summer vacation (54). Adding those in bumps the total to 992
I broke 500 by April. So I'll say over 1,000 for sure. It was a great year, but I cannot wait to see what 2018 brings!
Sadly friends, I have to admit I didn’t catch enough of ‘em or too many.... I never will
238. Mostly largemouth, 34 smallies, 12 pike, 4 rock bass

Right with ya!
A rough estimate would be around 100: LMB, SMB, pickerel, assorted perch, and a handful of trout.
Oh bout' 40 or 50
Not as many largemouth as usual but a whole bunch of nice 3-4 lb smallmouth. Thousands of white bass and a good many bluegill crappie and catfish. Boat loads of accidental drum and a dozen or so striped bass
It was an inverse bell-shaped curve for me. Lots in the Spring and fewer in the summer and then lots in the Fall again. I can't quantify how many, really. Not enough because I didn't get to fish as much as I would have liked.
I'll have to keep track this year, I have no clue. I know its a lot between 2 of us in the boat we have broken 100 fish a day, I know its in the high hundreds. A slow non tournament day is around 20 to 30 bass a really slow day might be around 15 fish a day but we usually break 30 a day to 50 especially in the spring I'd say we average 30 to 40 a day.
It was a terrible year for me. My Father lived about 6 hours from me and was on his last legs so when I had free time I was visiting him (12 - 13 hour round trip). He died New Years Day, 2018. I don't keep an exact account of all fish, but I know that I had 100 bass by May. I caught between 150 and 200 bass and it was probably closer to the lower end of that range. I did not keep track of the assorted walleye, catfish, crappie, and white bass that I caught.
Wow, I'm almost too embarrassed to say after those totals. Maybe 20-25 at 5-6lbs and lower. But I did catch a lot of snapper and quite a few snook during my saltwater excursions. I started keeping a log book a few years ago, but didn't keep up with it. When I get my house addition done I will have more time to beat the water a little harder.
The only time I have ever been diligent enough to tally fish for an entire year was in 2013. I caught 446 largemouth 116 smallmouth, 659 crappies, and 557 bluegill. With all other species, the total came out to be over 3500 fish. That was back before I even started bass fishing, I think it's safe to say I catch a few more than that now
I just finished putting together a project which shows every single bass I caught, when I caught it, and on what type of bait, for the entire 2017 season.
_____Context_____
In 2017 I made a total of 18 fishing trips between the dates of May 08, 2017 to September 25, 2017. I never solo fished, I always fished with my buddy Jeremy in his boat being the backseater 98% of the time. We even had a third person in the boat for 5 of the trips. It was a combined effort on where we fish, and when. The majority of the trips were done after work, (past 2:00pm) where we had anywhere between 3-5 hours to fish. A hand full of trips were done on weekends, where we made it to the lake early (around 7:30am) and had between 8-10 hours to fish. There is also a good chunk of time taken out of every day which is dedicated as an investment to my fishing log to measure & weigh every fish, document lake conditions, as well as locations fished, bait selection, etc, via pictures/video/audio to create a highly detailed fishing log to both learn from, as well as preserve personal fishing memories. My primary goal (as always) was to be consistent and catch at least 1 bass every day no matter the size - which I accomplished 100% for the 18 trips in 2017. My secondary goal was to catch 5 bass if possible. Given my situation and goals, bait selection & location planning was critical, and a huge part of my success. I also developed a tackle system this year to help minimize the large quantity of unused tackle I take with me due to the limited space, and time to fish. Though to be completely honest, I still had a large assortment of unused baits that I could cut down even further.
If I can say one thing, this year I really learned that even though I have thousands of baits, "there is only so much time in the day". Honestly with the 3 combos I used, and the time I had to fish, I threw a maximum of 3-7 different baits per trip. (Not like that's going to stop my love for tackle, I'll just have to plan for Lots of fishing trips.) I'm someone who will commit to using a bait for a good amount of time without getting bit, if I feel the bait is right and should work. If I changed baits, it would mostly be due to conditions like Shallow/Deep, Clear/Weedy, etc. I will say I did feel limited only using 3 combos. I would normally rig up [Combo 1] - Finesse Soft Plastic (confidence bait) for casting to targets. [Combo 2] - A type of Search Bait, to cover water. [Combo 3] - Misc Bait, which could be anything from another soft plastic or search bait option, to a new bait I would like to test out. I found myself mostly using what I had already pre-rigged up prior to the fishing trip, which were sometimes the baits already rigged up from the previous trip that were successful. I would have liked 2 more combos just in terms of "fun" to give me the option to throw more stuff.
These are the results for all the different types of baits I used and was successful with. I did throw a hand full of other baits that are not listed as they didn't produce any results. Disclaimer: This is by no means a reflection on what I think are the best baits, or only what works, it is only a simple list of data on what I decided to use that had results. I did not spend an even amount of time using each bait, I threw what I personally thought might work or what I wanted to use on a given day, in a given situation. This lead to the following results that are ranked by what bait type caught the most, down to what bait type caught the least...
