No big lakes around here so sold the bass boat and built this. Motor start/stop, forward /reverse and left/right are pedal controled so hands are free to fish, take pics ect. Too old to cary 60 lbs very far so made a cart to haul it to/fro the water. 4.8 mph flat out so no nose bleeds, lost glasses or hats here. Absolutely quiet and seat is comfy. Lots of handy dry storage. 10 footer fits in P/U so no trailer needed. Battery charge runs the boat all day, but carry paddle for insurance

There's a lot of great boats in this thread!
I would like to show my ride. I bought this about a year ago. It only has around 50 hours on it and it's a 2002. It sat for a long time in a garage before I picked it up. I only got out in it 4 times last year and it ran great. This year I've had nothing but problems with it... little problems I think but I never really get to go fishing.
I love the boat... it's the darn engine > > >
Anyway... I think when get things ironed out it will be a great boat. I use it for fresh and saltwater bass
Not pictured is the 24v salt water series bow mounted TM, casting seat and bimini top. I also have a Lowrance LMS 527 fish finder/GPS in her.
There's no place I'd rather be than out on the lake in my little green boat...
93 Storm, I loved it from day one.
Here's the fishing boat, a 10' Alumacraft with a 50lb Minnkota trolling motor connected to a 27 series battery. I just ordered a 2hp outboard for the larger lakes and the boat dry only weighs 90lbs, should do Ok. I love this little boat.

This is my ride and I'm very proud of her. A 1984 Bayliner Trophy. Only a 16 footer with an 85 horse engine. She isn't fast or pretty but I got her dirt cheap, it has all the stuff (2 livewells, 2 fishfinders, trolling motor, storage, etc.), everything works, it's easy to tow and easy to fix if needed. I can put 3 gallons of gas in and go all weekend and more on that. Much more actually. I haven't had to put fuel in for the last 5 outings.
I don't have to worry if she gets a scratch or something isn't cosmetically perfect. I want to fish, not worry about how she looks.
The only improvement I've had to make to her is to extend the front deck. Originally the seat was far to close to the bow. I didn't have enough room for the foot pedal so I extended the deck to the rear of the seat. I remounted the seat about 2 feet farther back and I'm thrilled with how it turned out and it only cost me a small piece of plywood that I already had and a few 1x2s. It even created another storage space. I don't know why Bayliner didn't do that in the first place.
I learned everything I know about bass fishing from this forum and I'm very thankful. I had a great summer fishing with my daughter and I have all you fine people to thank for that.

My son, getting his first fish on it---------------------------->
This is my 2007 Triumph 195DC, a 20 foot Deep hull fish & Ski. We bought this boat because we wanted something that would be useful for fun activities like skiing and tubing and we wanted to fish too. We take it to the beach at least once a year and we needed a Sea Worthy craft so that over rides the bass boat. This one has handled 6 foot seas a couple of times and never missed a lick.
Equipment: 150 Yamaha 4 cycle, 6 rod holders, Min kota 52 lb. thrust troll (Not Pictured), LOWRANCE LMS-522C iGPS, Midland Marine VHF w/GPS capable, Lenco Trim Tabs, Live well and builtin coolers x2. The 2 rear seats lift out to give more room in the rear to fish!
Best thing about this boat is that it cleans up so easy after a bloody day on the ocean and has plenty of room to move around. Has a draft of 16 inches so I can still get in pretty shallow waters.
Great Rigs Everyone!!

Great boat. I had one like that for a couple of years until I loaned it to my bestest friend and it go gone. Got gone never returned. I guess someone needed it worse than I did. Insurance helped me get another one that was smaller. Older and a pain in the butt. I sold it and got a pontoon and now my Triumph.
Anyway, I love your boat! Does it have a drawing of a island with a palm tree on the wall just to the starboard side of the transom? If it does call the Police and report it as a stolen craft!! If not then enjoy! ;D ;D

That works just fine. I could use that in a few nice lakes around here or down near the coast.
We don't have big TVA sized reservoirs around here. I fish smaller electric-only lakes, tidal creeks and rivers and swampy lakes. My ride works great in those places. This is an older photo. I've removed that dumb back seat and decked and carpeted the rear bench.

Lucky kid indeed.
Yeah, he's pretty lucky but he worked for the money for the Bayliner. And he's pretty serious about his tournament fishing. Funny thing is, the Sea Nymph had more deck space. But in chop you do get blown around. you should have seen us on Lake Shasta, CA for his first club tourney in that boat! We were getting blown all over. Good thing for the bilge.

Well, Here is the only pic I have. I'll get it in June. It is under a tarp. My wife's uncle "bought" us a boat. I don't know why, he just did. That is the way he is. Ok with me though. I lucked out big time! Anyways, he had carpet put in too as you can see. It is a Bass Tracker Grizzly 1754 with a Mercury 25 hp EFI 4 Stroke. Can't wait to get it, and Get everything mounted on it like I want. It is almost embarassing showing y'all a boat I didnt work for, unlike some of you who saved and saved. But I am still excited.

This is my 1st BIGDAWG!!! 2005 Skeeter ZX225! Fell in love at first sight. Will Pick it up next week for GOOD!
Here is my ride. 2004 Nitro 700 LX with a 90 hp Tracker. I purchase it used in 2006 and have upgraded the TM to an MK from the MG that was on it. I love this thing and it hasn't given me any trouble since the day I bought it. The only issue I have is finding/creating the time to get out on it.
Good Fishing all 8-)

Hey Strike King, that is one hell of an upgrade from your last one man! Nice ....................... my bro had one for years before getting a Nitro Z-9 early last year.
hey thanks man! i still have the sea nymph for the low horsepower lakes its a major change going from a 9mph boat to a 60mph boat... wow!

If I had not run across my Gambler when I did, I was only a day or two away from buying a Skeeter with that same color scheme and a 250 Hammer on the back. Love those colors. Nice ride man.
so many nice rides that my old stratos isnt even worth posting. It will have to serve me until I can upgrade in a year or two. First is a new house, new vette and a new Toyota Sequoia and then I can start thinkin bout a new basscat jaguar ;D
Not the best pics in the world. Taken with my phone. It is a Bass tracker Grizzly 1754 w/ 25 hp EFI 4-Stroke. Newly carpeted. Rear Depth finder w/GPS. Front Depth finder is a Humminbird 525. 46 lb thrust Motorguide. Can't wait to get her wet!! I'll get better pics soon.
Hasn't been a post here in a while so I will show my relatively new ride. I picked this one up last August to be my hybrid bass/walleye boat. I looked at glass boats, but in the end went with aluminum again because I fish in shallower, rocky rivers some of the time. Its a 2009 Lund Predator 1710 SS with 75hp Mercury 4 stroke. Runs about 43mph (gps) with the stock prop and we have been extremely happy with it. I went with the predator model since it has an elevated casting deck up front much like a bass boat instead of the normal walleye boat which has a lower deck not as suited to casting. When it came time to get a new tow vehicle this spring, I figured I might as well get one to match the boat!

Looks like you did a quality restore on that rig, Nitrofreak. Well done.
Thanks I really appreciate that it's not over yet I still have some hull work to do and I need to find another trailer for it.
Thanks again it means a lot!!!
Hasn't been a canoe or a 'yak on the thread for a couple of months so I'll contribute this for us small-water guys. I use this for my 11 local lakes - 4 acres to 201 acres. No wake lakes so I get where I want to go as fast as the bass boats

1996 nitro 170tf with a 115hp tracker engine. ive hit 54mph with gps by myself and with the full tourny load and a partner i hit about 50 with gps. I also have side imaging on the console and an eagle 640 up front. For the prop its a 21 pitch turbo racing prop which gives the boat a good hole shot. then i also have a minn kota 65lb edge trolling motor up front. All in all i think that this boat is amazing and the nicest boat ive ever owned.

Wow ! Most of the boats I see in this thread are too pretty to get fish slime on
Here's my baby...
I wouldn't own a boat that wasn't camo'd. Not only do I think it looks great, and blends it with nature, but also, it totally hides dirt and scratches.... which is great, as I prefer to spend my time fishing, not babying the boat
And here's both of my babies
.....sometimes I forget my boat is back there, but set it on cruise control, pulling the boat at 60mph and only 1800 rpms, crank up the stereo, relax for a few minutes, (or hours) and I'm there
Peace,

You might want to do a little research on fishing kayaks. They're more stable than any canoe or jonboat I've been in.
Thanks Francho
It's kind of funny, I just looked through every boat in this thread, and all of the sweetest boats (in my book) or should I say, the ones that make me wonder if I might like them even better than mine, the owners all say something like > It's not much, but.... Nothing fancy, but....
Those kinds of statements make me want to grab them, shake them around, and say, "Dude ! WTH are you talking about !?!? That 15 or 16ft deep-V aluminum with that olive green paint is freaking sweeeet ! That 40 to 60 hp motor might be a little more than one needs... But dude ! You have plenty of boat there to catch any LMB that swims" !
Seriously, I have to admit, sometimes I catch myself thinking, well a little bigger boat, or a little more HP might help with this or that..... But wait a minute ! No it wouldn't !
It would just be more to haul, more to store, and more to take care of.
My boat was, and still really is, my dream boat. I love the size, the light weight, and the V hull. The power trim, and electric start are really nice too. I guess that might be the difference between myself, and most of the other owners of small aluminums. A lot of guys fish out of boats like mine, because they can't afford a high performance bass boat. I fish out of a small aluminum because I totally prefer it.
Sure, if I hit the lotto, I'd buy something I could take on the ocean.... and maybe 6 or 12 houseboats, to be kept on a bunch of different lakes.... But I'd continue to do my freshwater fishing out of my 14ft aluminum.... or one of my other 10, 14 ft aluminums
BTW, I do understand the reasoning for $50K+ bass boats..... With a lot of stuff, I'd like to go totally extreme myself. I could easily spend $200K+ on a truck, and if I had tons of money, I would. But as for my fishing boat, all of that size, weight, and prettiness would just get in the way of what's really important > my fishing !
That's just me though.

MSPbass, that Fisher is freaking sweet ! I love the layout ! Normally, I don't care for consoles... but that one looks pretty minimal. Love that deep-V.
Andy, that G3 is sweet too ! I guess that is a modified V hull ? My buddy had a Tracker with almost the same hull, and it took big water surprisingly well.
I have to be honest, every time I see a boat (especially a G3) just a little bigger / more motor than mine, I always start to question my decision, as I could have had any G3 I chose (not totally free, but for a stupid low price) and yet I chose my little 14 ft'er. The guys at G3 probably thought I was crazy LOL
I think they even had your boat available with a camo finish, which would have been a must have for me.... but that matte green looks great too.

Yea it's a mod V. It has more of a bass boat set up than there Jon boats do. I actually just got it last week so haven't had a chance to hit the water yet.......rain, work and such but it won't be long. I don't know if your that crazy for staying small.I think one should fish out of what works for them and not a large boat just so your thingy looks bigger . I had a chance to get a larger boat than what i went with but for the type of water i have around me ( alot of electric lakes and a river that runs pretty shallow in alot of places) a 16' jet works well me for.
Looks nice and clean

i suppose ill join in.. owned a pond prowler and a 14ft jon boat.. both projects that ended up being sold after they were water worthy.. sold pelican just because... got jon boat but my blazer i was driving at the time was such a POS i needed 2 people to go fishin cause you couldnt launch boat alone cause parking brakes were so bad. even after replacing all parts and cables and adjusting.. just to much of a hassle.. still waiting on money for a kayak.... but for now whenever i got a partner i can just drag this 15ft canoe out... does just fine
luckily i enjoy paddling.... and yes the boat is horribly grungy in those pictures.. afterwards i scrubbed it clean... completley diff color now
i just love being able to paddle into some ofthe places i have with this canoe. where no boats or pedestrians can get to.. creepin up on ducks and got 5-6ft from a huge vulure a few days ago that was nesting up on a rock ledge right off the water. pretty awesome stuff

Oh man, thanks FC! I've had her for a few years and love that ride. I did what I could to pretty her up, but now the motor needs some additional work. ($$$) That should probably be done before I add a sonar, but I'm not sure when either will happen. For now, my over the side Fishin' Buddy does its job. And yeah, it is pretty minimal. Since this picture was taken I've taken the front "bench" seat out to give a little more room up front. I affectionately refer to this carpeted area as my "casting deck" to the amusement of those that have "real" boats. I've also taken the seat off the rear bench to give better access to the TM. I'm usually a 1 man show, so I use the TM to get out to the spot and either anchor or extend the TM handle (I bought a longer handle at Walmart for just that purpose) to allow me to stand nearer the front of the boat for casting.
Usually the oars are decorative - but on that day they got used as the water was VERY shallow.
This picture was taken at the end of the fishing day with two people on that tiny boat. When it is just me, things are much roomier.

I dont have a good pic, but I have a 2007 285xl Stratos 150 Yamaha vmax 23m prop set at 3in below pad with a 6in plate. I had it up to 61.5 at 6000 rpm.

14' Sea Nymph. Bought it last year with trailer, trolling motor and 2 batteries for $1,000 and my dad gave me a 9.9 HP Force outboard that didn't even have 10 hours on it. Unfortunately it sat in his garage unused for 10 years so it wound up costing me $380 to get it running.

South FLA: I was a Ranger fan until I rode in Legend. Not only are they beautiful to look at they are a better handling and riding boat than any Ranger I've been in. The people at Legend have listened to their customers and given them what they asked for, especially the tournament anglers: lots of storage and big decks; a day box up front and a rod box for the co-angler. For rough water there is nothing better, and under regular conditions, very, very smooth.

Not this one. I have another project waiting that I want to use it on.
This is my Glastron tri-hull turned bass boat, nothing fancy or flashy, but she gets me out to where the fish are and has never let me down.
I don't have all the accessories shown but here is my new friend .
Now the fun begins. (the motor is an 18HP Johnson OB).
Not bad for $600

1994 MonArk Bass 160 with a 40 HP Force Motor
Just bought my 1st "boat" 2 weeks ago, 10' Ascend Angler. Last year I went out with a friend that had 2 rec. yak's and loved fishing from it, I had to save up for one of my own.
Funny thing is I don't have truck to transport it and my Camaro has T-tops so I can put a rack on it. I said to myself, I'm buying the yak no matter what and I'll figure out how to get it to the river after I own it.
Lucky for me, the thing fits in the car. I doubt I'm the 1st to shove a 10' Kayak inside a Camaro, but I would like to think I am.
Hers my 1998 Astro fish 172 with a 120 force outboard.
Just getting back into fishing. My boat, a 1996 Charger 195VF, hasn't been used since 1998. A pack rat got under the tarp last summer and decided to eat every wire in the boat. A $5000.00 trip to the repair shop later and with all new wiring, pumps, batteries, fuel pump, cleaned injectors, etc., I'm getting close to going back on the water. Motor is 1996 Mercury 200 EFI. 1998 MotorGuide 67# thrust tolling motor. I have new electornics that I haven't mounted yet. Humminbird 788 ci HD DI Sonar/GPS/Chartplotter for the dash and a Lowrance X-4 Pro Sonar for the front.

What the heck happened to your trailer? Did you hit something, or did something hit you?
On 5/3/2012 at 10:55 AM, Glenn said:Is it me, or is the rod just a tad short?
Are we sure that's a boat and not a hi performance ice fishing sled? would explain the short rod.
On 5/3/2012 at 10:16 PM, Traveler2586 said:All of this occurred on my trip down to AL. The trailer is the result of an eighteen wheeler blowing a tire a few vehicles in front of me. The wheels tread separated and cam out from under the car in front of me. I had no time to react if I could; there's no way I would attempt to swerve while towing a boat.
The transom saver popped off the roller while I was crossing over a bridge joint on an elevated roadway. Thankfully, the pickup next to me saw it and warned me.
Thankfully the trip home was without incident, the total drive for me was 1,550 miles.
When you replace the transom saver, get the one that has the spring in it. I'm almost glad someone swiped mine. 00 mod picked up a transom saver for me on his way down on Friday. It was the spring loaded version. I compress the spring to the halfway point of its compression. Should the motor jump some, it should keep the fork over the back roller, rather than pulling it free, and allowing it to drop.

This is my second Bullet, a 21XRD Intracoastal, since the first one scared the heck out of me with a 300 Mercury Racing and about 900lbs of hull weight. This boat is a totally different animal at 21' 10" with a 250 Mercury Pro XS!

Does your boat have carpet?? That's a lot of white surface, be careful of the sun reflections. I use to build large satellite dish antennas and could burn from sun reflections off the white dish.
No carpet, just like the Ranger Intracoastal and other models that Stratos and Triton have or in Stratos case had. You are right about the sun reflection, if you don't wear sunprotection you end up looking like George Hamilton.
Looks great, Robert. I like it better than the one you had previously with the yellow highlights. That thing looks like its doing 100 sitting still. Gorgeous boat.
I need to drag my butt up there soon so we can go screw around on Okeechobee.

You will love that Lowe!! I have owned several Lowe bass boats over the years and IMHO are one of the best boats out there. Been through many situations of rough weather where we shouldn't have made it back yet the Lowe got us home safely!
Just picked up this Polar Kraft SS160. I needed a bigger boat, but not too big for the 10hp lakes. I fish with the kids a bunch, so stick steering seemed like the way to go. Looking forward to getting it wet.
Dude, that is a nice rig! I could use something similar for 9 hp lakes up here.

South Fla: that boat looks lke it could outrun the sun....
Just added boat #3 to the stable. 1995 16ft alumicraft with 1999 50hp Johnson. Custom painted by previous owner who is a bodyshop repairman. Very very nice camo job.

At least when it is hot you can outrun the heat,.... not really it just makes it feel like a blow dryer, high speed blow dryer.
Here is father and I's boat! It is a late 50's Richline with a '67 Evinrude 18hp Fastwin on it. We put a fishfinder on it and added longer bunks and carpeted them, put a much wider roller up front to make loading easier. Recently mounted the spare tire to the trailer and moved the winch down. It has new wheels and tires.
This was my grandfathers boat. He bought the motor brand new in '68 as the last years model. The last two pictures are the lantern holders and brackets that he made for night fishing. There are three brackets on each side so you can have a lantern wherever you want it.
The Wondertroll 606 needs upgraded but it still works fine!
Made a few minor improvements / upgrades.
Best one was rigging a second battery under the front seat to allow me to hook up auxiliary power (to get home) without actually moving the batteries.

Nice rig. I have a 2000 Ranger R81VS with a 150 Merc. I have topped out at 52 mph GPS. Does your jackplate add that much more top speed? Or is the Johnson underrated power wise? Seems like a 12 mph difference on a same size boat and same size motor seems drastic. I feel slow now lol.
Javelin, Stratos, Hydro Sport hull is just a much faster design than Rangers. The designer was Earl Bentz that now owns Tritan Boats.

Does a faster hull mean a less stable one?
My 201 Stratos with a 200hp Johnson would run 78-80 on a good day with quite a bit of chine walking but other than that it was very very stable. Only when pushing it to the max did it get a little quirrely. Good smooth, dry, and solid ride otherwise. I miss that boat but not the fuel bill!!!!
It will chime walk some if it is empty but yes the hulls are faster and the jackplate makes a huge difference it makes you able to fine tune your rig. It has a 24p raker prop. Sat I had a full tank of gas full livewells me and my buddy and all our gear and I was able to hit 60 sometimes 61 with absolutely no chime walk.
On 7/31/2012 at 8:57 AM, RyneB said:Does a faster hull mean a less stable one?
Not necessarily. You do have to actually "drive" a fast boat. My 21' Bullet doesn't chine walk until you're over 80, and even then, once you know how to drive it, you don't get any.

I understand about the fuel bill. My previous boat was a 2002 Tracker with a 40 Merc. I would put $20 in it and it would last me a looooong time. When i bought my Ranger, before i took it home i stopped to fill it up. $72. I about fell over. My truck costs over $100 to fill, the boat is $72. I need a loan just for a day on the lake. It was so much easier and cheaper when i had a Jeep and a Kayak. Still have the kayak, but it just cant hold the amount of gear my Ranger can. lol

Hey, it gets you on the water, right? That's all that matters, IMO.
Question though: how tough is the rubber on that? As in: do you have to be extra careful not to get it hooked for fear of puncturing it? Presumably they are fairly rugged.
its made of some pretty strong material, hypalon rubber I believe. I doubt I have anything in my tacklebox capable of doing any real damage to it, except for maybe my fishing knife. The raft I had before it that was made of PVC, however, was a different story. Had to patch it up after almost every trip and never went fishing in it without an air pump or a bucket to scoop out water. Had some pretty wet and miserable trips in that thing
Fishing only out of a yak. Here are a few shots.
Hooked into a nice Redfish fishing in Georgia. Got my rigged up milk crate in there .
Landed it after a nice fight
I had 2 yaks a few years ago. The top one was an Ocean Kayak Caper 11' and the bottom green one was an Ocean Kayak Prowler 15'. I sold the Caper and kept the Prowler.
It's more fun catching big fish in little boats

My dad bought me a jon boat when i was 12. I cut grass in the summer and bought a trolling motor. I fished out of that until i got out of high school and got a job. Then i bought a tracker. Had that for 12 years. Turned 29 and bought a Ranger. My most memorable boat is still that Jon boat my dad bought me that i painted, took care of, washed, and put my hard earned dollars into. It may have been a spray painted green Jon, but to me it was a brand new Triton. The sad thing is someone stole it, or else i would still have it and pass it down to my nephew.
Heres my new boat. It's a 2012 186XT Stratos with a 115 Evinrude E-Tec. This is the third bass boat I've owned, but the first brand new one. I absolutly love it! I was a little concerned with a 115 hp on a 18.9' glass boat, but the E-tec pushes her right along. Solo I can get 50 mph, and with a partner and his gear its about 47. Great on fuel and oil.
The dash.
Not sure why I cant put these all on one thread, but heres a few more pics.
Last one.
Thats a good question. I just picked it up a couple weeks ago and didnt even notice. I just went out and looked and am pretty sure there is'nt one? I'll look allittle more tommorrow but I didnt see one on the trailer anywhere. You would think that would come standard with a new boat.

Leave the Ranger and fish the Disney Lakes, or plan a day trip with George Welcome out of Stick Marsh.
I will go if Marissa goes with me
This is my buddy's brand new Phoenix 920. To my knowledge this boat isn't even out on the market yet, but through his sponsorship with Phoenix he just received it. Talk about a fun rig to fish out of! We shot the video on Perry lake in Eastern Kansas. Top speed in this video was about 74.6 if the GPS was correct. It's powered by a Mercury Pro XS 250.

beautiful Nitro. I have always loved that red/ black on white. I always go to BPS site and go to the "build your own" nitro and experiment with colors. Its a lot of fun.
Ha, i have done that on the site many times as well! Even though many people bash Nitro i have always found them sexy & sleek. When i found this one at a great price i jumped on it.
i had my mind dead set on a nitro, then a used Ranger became available at a deal i couldnt pass up.

My "bass boat" has been parked in the garage for three years. I've been fishing out of my Trident ever since. I can't cover the entire lake like the other bass rockets, but man, the places I can go that they can't. I love my kayak and I doubt I ever go back to my "bass boat." YAK ON!
Thats a bad boat!!!!! I want one SOOOOOOO bad, maybe in a few years.
how about a pic with the cover off from that angle
Enjoying all the boats. Plenty verstility in these posts.
My first boat and entry into bass fishing. Me and my wife love it.
1994 Ranger R70 Sport.
My 2005 champion 187 With a 150 efi
My first bass boat, 1979 Terry, I redid this entire boat including transom and decks, then sold it. It got a lot of wows on the water for being 14'
I went about 4 years without a boat, I was into motorcycles
Now I have a 1992 17' Tracker, no full on shots, but my boy loves it
I haven't posted on here for a while! Here is my 2000 Ranger 522DVX with a 225 Merc pushing her along the waves. It is a wonderful boat that will last me a long time! It has all the bells and whistles, but I've learned a lot of the time I'm the reason I'm not catching fish!!!

Awesome picture!
Thanks, hes a maniac. He was just over 12 months when that pic was taken. Hoping to get him to reel one in this summer. This is going to be his first christmas where he knows whats going on.
Here is my kayak, Emotion Mojo Angler.
I do not know anyone that owns one, they are not your popular angler like wilderness and hobie are. This was a gift from my wife, so I can't complain at all, personally my dream is a Jackson Coosa, but this is wonderful for a first kayak.
Upgrades:
PriahnaMax 190c
Transducer arm on the bow.
Ram mounts for both
Anchor Trolley
Surf to SUmmit hot seat
Have a nice PDF
Basic paddle
good cart for transport.
Future Plans:
Silent traction system is being shipped as I type this.
Also going to drill a hole in front of the console where the wall is between the cabin and the bow hatch and run a clear tube for the electronics along where the console is.
Want to get a GoPro and mount for it
Want to get a good flag or other means of making myself seen better.
Overall I like the kayak a lot, I can side saddle very easy, have not tried standing up yet (only been out twice before winter) but the kayak is very very stable, I tried to topple her over but ended up sliding out. She isnt the fastest but good speed anyone, tracks very well and is easy to turn. I like that the center console is removable so if I find something to replace it I will not have a hard time to do that. Also the console has a lot of room under it to run wires to keep things out of the way.
I am 5'9" and 180 and have no problems at all fitting inside, reaching anywhere or getting what I need.
My only real complaint is that there is no hatch in the cabin or in the stern area. However I plan on adding two 6 inch hatches w/ bags in the future. I only would ever use 3 rods at once so there us more than enough storage for rods and gear.
Figured I would show mine off too. She's an oldie but a great boat. And still looks fairly new!
1996 Javelin 400TE
19' 10"
200 Johnson Venom

Great picture, every time i see a rod bowed like that i picture the tip snapping lol
I wish that rod would snap... its an ugly stick. Its likely getting replaced this year as well as the rod holder flipped around the right way. I only got to use this boat maybe 4 times last year cause I got it so late.

Now that came out real clean....Looks Sweet....how many hrs. did it take.
Invoice said about 20 hours labor.
That's pretty right there! I don't even want to know what that cost.
The boat or the work?
The work. The reason I ask, is I can see my self needing similar work in a few years. I keep mine covered and a coat of wax every couple months but I since I don't have indoor storage anymore, I noticed more fading and small spots.. Mine, ( pictured above). Still looks great, I just want to keep it that way. And if that means getting work done in a few years then so be it. Feel free to pm me if you want to put that stuff up here
Labor is usually around $75/hour. My resto included repairing a crack, and reinforcing glass added to where the consoles meet the top cap. I already had the polyflake mixes from Bullet, so I saved a few hundred on materials. Invest in some Bow to Stern treatment, and start applying now, before UV damage sets in. The stuff is amazing.
Ok that will be what I do. I'm going to search it now. Thanks. I don't have any craks or anything

The boat is named: "Skoolzout" ( I am a teacher Health and PE)
I also have on the back left side: Psalms 118:24
What do you got?
Having the scripture on your boat is so AWESOME. I looked up the verse and what better verse to have on your boat then that. After all, we couldn't do all this if it weren't for the good lord.
I hope God blesses you for this.
This was the first boat I ever bought. Mercury Minnow that I slightly modified. Added a section of flooring to stand on and front rear decks. I fished it for a while then sold it to purchase a more Fisher boat. Hopefully fish it for a year and then sell it off to buy an older ranger or something like that.

That Fisher will do everthing a Ranger will except get you there as fast. It will go into places a Ranger would not dare. Aluminum Bass boats are the most versatile rigs made and a lot cheaper to run and maintain.
Not saying it's going to be a ranger and it can be aluminum I'm okay with that. Doesn't even have to be bigger just designed better really. I want a more bass fishing oriented boat though. This almost has no rod storage, not much storage period, live well is small, front deck is small.
Rip, those reasons are exactly why i sold my Alumacraft years ago and bought the 20ft Javelin. I wanted/needed storage and a more stable ride with a better liewell Mine is pictured a coupke pages back. I do miss the fuel mileage from the alumacraft tho. I could put 25.00 bucks and fish every day for 2 weeks. Cant do that anymore!!
Rip, by the way, that fisher is a nice rig. My buddy has one that is similar.
Here's my next ride........

Now if only I could convince the spousal unit that it is a must have
My money pit all nice, new and shiny. Will never see it like this again.
This baby only cost me 50 cent.
I started in a wooden jon boat, then customized a metal jon boat for bass fishing, in the 60's went to a Quachita fiber glass bass boat, in the late 70's bought a Venture bass boat, and now my ride is a 94' Nitro 170DC pictured below.
Here is mine...thought I posted it awhile ago....2003 ProCraft Pro190 18'6"Merc. 150 EFI Great Boat and later this week gets out of the shop after new Lowrance Elite5 DSI units are installed and new ignition/wiring to ensure many more great trips on the water!!
Had to beach her in this shot as a thunderstorm had barreled in!
Here is my work rig... ; )
I have a 2001 Fisher Marsh Hawk 165 Deep V with a 2002 50 hp Mercury, 30 lb thrust transom mount trolling motor and 54lb Motorguide bow mount. Upgraded console fishfinder to a Lowrance Elite 4x and have an Eagle FishEasy on the bow. Soon to be a Fishmark 320. It is laid out like a bass boat front and rear casting platforms. This model was only produced in 2001 and 2002
Photo is from the day I picked up the boat in 2002.
.
Nice rigs both of you have... ill be buying a newer one in a few years. My buddy called me the other day with a hot deal. Ill be passing it on to you guys to see if you want it cause with a boy in daycare I cant afford the payments at the moment. I should have pics and full details next week. If youre in the market for a newer tracker keep your eyes on the for sale forum.

No plans in replacing my boat anytime soon, it is in very good condition and there aren't many hours on the Mercury. No wood in the boat to rot out should last a very long time.Hope to keep it long enough to give to my grandson.
Post wasnt directed at you bud, more to anyone who reads the thread. I wouldnt be getting rid of that either, its a nice boat.

No problem, just expressing how happy I am with my boat. You said you were waiting a few years to buy a boat but now is the time to get great deals on used boats because of the economy. These days you can spend as little as $2500 and get a great boat.
My boat is in this thread, I just bought it last year. Its nice, I catch fish out of it but I would like something a tad newer with more juice. Daycare costs are astromical these days, along with insurance. My 18 month old son runs a monthly bill of $1000 before feeding or clothing him so all my expendable income for a boat payment is SHOT for another three years. My boat is free and clear and I like that. Its good enough till he goes to school or I win one.
Back on topic, sorry for getting off track.

I bought my current boat after both my kids got through college. Before that I had a 14 foot with a 15 hp. Kind of miss the old boat. I saved for a long time so I could pay cash, Now that I am retired no way I would want to take on boat payments. With the price of gas I find myself using my Loon 138 kayak to fish out of in close by water.

I like your ride Darren!! I have a bass boat, and i really want a kayak/canoe too. that will really let me do some fishing on the river here as well as my lakes without using so much fuel and will give me a little excercise. I will still keep my Javelin but the Kayak is the next project... i think it will be fun.

Thanks, man. It's been a bit modified since then. The Motorguide bit the dust and I replaced it with a Minn Kota. A good change, too as the Kota is much lighter. Also didn't have my fishing crate in the pic.
I control the motor with my feet (turning) via the foot pedals, and built a switch box which sits at my left hand allowing me an almost hands-free trolling experience. Works like a champ.
You'll love the yak experience. Just be sure to give your elbows a break now and then...that's partly why I have the trolling motor.

Motor has been recently rebuilt, just bought the boat about 4 months ago. Still learning to drive the new hull and get the boat set up just right. Right now though, I'm doing low 70s, with the motor missing on a cylinder (have an electrical issue I'm trying to smooth out). Ideally she should cruise in the 80's once she's running right and setup right. Time will tell! The XTB in the background ran low 80's WFO when i had her.
Get that Alli right, and you will give my Bullet a run for her money. Those 2.5 Mercs are strong and light. Neat boat. I'd kill myself in one.
I have a 2002 skeeter sx 190 with a 150 vmax 1198c si and a 596 di nice boat had it for about 1 year now
my jon boat I just redid...she is ready to go!!!
That is a cool jon boat!! You are right, she is ready! I just posted that my bass boat had to go to the shop...so my jon (which is naked compared to yours) may have to put in some work this weekend!
I like seeing decked out jon boats.
Here's my next one. Already on order and hopefully delivered next week........

thanks man I love my little jon boat...wish it was a little bigger sometimes but it gets the job done
Here is my baby...1990 Ranger 361V with a 175hp Evenrude. Just picked it up last summer and with some TLC she will be on the lake with the local club...can not wait!!!!
war that is a dandy...grew up in a jon, 14 ft. sears with a 9 1/2 johnson and both took a beatin big time and caught more fish, killed more ducks, ran over more stumps and water mocs and as rough as it was and homely...walking back from shooting ducks and finding barbed wire with a wader boot made that the prettiest lil jon on the water. upgraded it to an 18 evinrude when the bond movie came out with the new evinrudes on all the boats and it would scat. gave the 9 1/2 and $600 for the 18. do that today and someone is drunk! hanover...that's just showin off. i don't blame you either that is an awesome ride. somewhere a video shows one with one man and he's tied to a two man kayak with paddles and he drags em wherever he wants to. they can't stop him. i'm modifying my pelican to more adapt to my fishing and creating things for me to do. i started with a dash last year and have it almost complete except for painting. it contains a plate for magnetic antenna and ground wire, a belt loop for the clip on my handheld cobra cb, a gun holder, a spotlight holder a mount for my depth finder and a hole for the wires to go through, a cell holder, rod and drink holder, a magnetic strip for clippers etc. to cling to, ashtray, and is 36 inches across and marked to measure and underneath is a 4 port plug is for lights, depth finder, cell charger etc., and also a glove box...actually a large fanny pack attached under side. the dash is removable. i made new winds for anchor lines which are 50 ft. as to the others i had only held 25 ft. and smaller line. i made a new transom from slotted angle and is lighter and looks better to replace the ugly 2x4 i was using. i also am mounting a bow light and using the port under the dash to light it. the 4 ports btw run on a smaller battery. also to stable it and maybe stand or not worry about my 80 lb. hound getting excited, i am adding pontoons made from pvc. i was bringing them off the dash until i found the middle seat has a rod holder on each side and i don't use them and...perfect fit for the pvc to sit in, it's 1 1/4 sched 40 and stiff. i'll put a strap on the side so where the arm rests on the boat it will cinch down and keep the arm from going up and down. the pontoons are 4 in. and caps alone for the ends were right at $10...that was $40 right there and i thought about the spray foam. it filled the ends and just needs to be sculpted to a point and painted. now i looked at kevlar skids because mine showed wear after one summer. i thought...$100? then i saw the slotted angle in home depot and hmmm. yes i made a brush guard i guess, cutting grooves in the iron to allow it to bend i rubber coated it and put weather stripping between it and the canoe. i had dog chain...i ran from the front handle down through the angle up to the other side to help hold it up and thought once it's rubberized and painted it will look tough plus help stop wear on the front of the boat. also my seat broke out. bad news, they sent me a new one and i didn't see throwing the seat away so i put it with the front seat with a 1x6 underneath on each side holding them together for my brother's wide "bass". makes a good work bench also! i'll show pics of it all once they're all painted.
heres my Jonboat still not completely finished but its ready for water once again. still need to mount my minnkota edge on the bow

The new bass hunter boat for the year. I love it works great for the hard to get to spots. Love the elite 4x dsi I got for it and the 43lb thrust foot control trolling motor makes it go at a pretty good clip, plus the wheels bass hunter puts on the back make it so easy for one guy to load and unload

This is my 96 Tracker Pro Team, just bought it 3 days ago. It has a 9.9 Merc Tracker on the back, I live in NJ so the few lakes where you can use a gas powered engine, the limit is 10hp. When I get some more funds up I plan to put a 50hp-60hp on the back, and use the 9.9 as a tiller. For now the 9.9 is perfect for local for tourneys.
This is my first real Bass Boat. Before this I had an open hull 14' Glastron Trihull, a Scanoe, and a few Seyvlor inflatables. I still have the Scanoe, I love fishing out of it.

Thanks kjfish, The guy that I bought it from took excellent care of her. He was the original owner and only took it out a couple times a year. The 9.9 is a 4 stroke w/less than 20 hours and a built in gas tank (perfect for when I upgrade motors)... I had a marine mechanic take a look at it and he couldn't believe it was a 96. I fished a tournament yesterday and there was a guy there with an 06 Pro Team, I swear by looking at the two you would have thought mine was the 06 LOL!! and I only paid $2800!!!

Wish i could run on $10 a day .My rig cost me $40 to $90 a day to run .But i run 0 to 60 miles on lanier every day. ,Run&Gun fishing .Lots of water to cover .38k acres of water .Lake Lanier ,500 miles of shore line.I usually start mid lake ramp. That way i can go up river or to the dam.
Lake Lanier....man, that must be fun though.
The only lakes I make big runs to are Erie, Champ, and Keuka. Even then, it's not a run and gun. I generally have a couple spots and I stick on the one that's working. Oneida is an exception. I can blow through a tank in a half day running. Problem, I have too many spots that are "timing" keyed. So, they may not be far, but I'll be rotating on them constantly.
Our lake here has hundreds of islands .A person could get lost really easy on lanier .Lots of rock, but not much grass,Its a clear water corp man made lake.Deepest is by the dam 200ft .up on the north end its about 10ft - or +.Its a excellent spot and striper lake .We have lots of blueback herring ,Making our fishery bigger then ever ,just in the past few yrs.
I remember spotted bass didn't get above 1.5lbs .Now they get up to 5lb or so.some even fatter.Since the bluebacks been introduced to the lake.
Our large mouth are good size also .But most folks fish for spotted bass. Its a superb spotted lake fishery.
Had trout & walleye back in the day .Not to many now .
I do love lanier .Always something different .Its at almost full pool now ,With trees floating around coming from the rise of the water from the banks.
In all its a wonderfull lake to fish and experience.

Its all well and good till someone blows by you on tournament day like youre sitting still. I would have a bigger boat but having a young child is wicked expensive between daycare and insurance.
Im glad my childern are growed up and married on thier own ,My grand kids come down to fish with me a lot from upstate ny .They like fishing with pappy .I do fish 7 days a week since no one is around but me and wife .

Great job! Did you have to replace much wood? I would let you re-carpet my boat next winter. Let me know where to drop it off
Had to replace main deck and casting deck. Epoxied the marine grade ply with a couple coats then carpeted. Added the rod locker which is nice to have can fit 8 rods in pretty decent. I'm very happy how it all turned out. Put troll motor battery under cast deck. Added onboard charger and cleaned up PO's wiring mess. Put a pt-130 tilt trim.

Yea i sure did, I've been looking around Craigslist & all the 9.9's in decent shape that aren't antiques are around that price range. I definitely lucked up. Since buying the boat I swapped out the original trolling motor for a 55lb MK, put a humminbird 581i HD/GPS Combo on the deck, & swapped the batteries out for Optimax AGM's. Now I'm just waiting to hear back about a kicker bracket for my transom mount 55lb MK

This is REALLY late. Like four years. But yours is the second or third Bass Tracker from the 80's that I saw that look so awesome. What happened that made them take away the fiberglass and that overall styling. I would love to find a nice condition boat just like yours and the other I saw for a starter boat.
Sometimes less is more. My Loon 138 on at a 45 acre lake with no access to a boat ramp. 2 rod holders, anchor trolley, and storage behind and in front of the seat. Next I may add a depth finder since I have a couple of older ones laying around. This boat takes me a lot of places I can't get to in my big boat.
HI All -- was trying to upload a couple photos of my rig and admit that I can not figure it out. Tried cutting and pasting them here, but get an error message "Can not use that extension in this forum" -- yet I was just trying to paste a 100K JPG file. Can anyone offer some advice on how address this item. thx in advance.
You can open an account at a photo hosting site like Photobucket. Upload your pics then copy and paste the IMG code to the post. You can also upload them to the gallery here but I can't help you with that.
Thanks Traveler ... Really appreciate the help.

Rode one for a demo ride and was impressed on how easy that boat handles. You don't have to worry about weight distribution, chine walking, etc. it gets out of the hole in NO TIME and turns on a dime, NICE BOAT!

Actually a medium to large church. With the banks toys it makes over 400 hp and somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 ft lbs of torque. When it's not pulling a boat it is pulling 17,000 pound equipment around central Florida.
Just brought this one home on Friday. Same 14 ft as my last boat, but a foot wider nearly double the freeboard, better motor and no more climbing over seats to move around.
Two rides depending on the type of water going on:

How do you like the Ascend? Hubby was considering it. He needs a more comfortable seat than what I have in the more "traditional" kayak seat of the Torque.
I love it, but to be honest I have never fished out of any other kayak.
I find the seat comfortable for all day fishing, and the good thing is it is actually a miniature padded lawn chair that comes out of the kayak. You can just un-latch it and take it ashore if you would like to sit a few inches off the ground.
I drove out to Bass Pro Shops to buy mine so I didn't have to pay for any shipping, and I probably sat in about 6 different makes to test the seating.
Please feel free to ask me any other questions about it, like I said I think it is a great fishing kayak.
I bought a boat about 3 years ago and fished with it for one season and found out that it wasn't what I wanted. I worked on it off and on for 6 months or so and got it fairly decent. I will make changes again soon, but, the pictures will show where I started and ended up. Everything has been closed off and supported since the last picture and it does pretty good.

I'm running a 1996 Nitro 160TF Rick Clunn Edition with a 2-stroke 90hp Tracker Merc. She isn't a screamer like you big boys but she'll do around 48mph with 700+ pounds of fishermen and gear. I've got a little 37lbs Motorguide 30 up front and am planning to upgrade soon to a 55+lbs.
She ain't much but she's all mine!

How much do you get out on it and how do you transport it (trailer, store on top of your ride, etc.)? I'm thinking about making a fishing kayak my Christmas for this coming year and am trying to do as much research as I can. I really like the FS12T sit on top because it looks like a good starter and won't break the bank.

Now that I have a pickup I bought a bed extender ($70 Harbor Freight) mounted lights to it for safety and haul my near 14 foot yak in a short bed truck. Prior to that I could load to yaks on my Saris Load Bars on the roof of my Jeep Liberty. If you want to trailer you can use one of those inexpensive Harbor Freight trailers.

Hi, I go out every weekend unless it is raining. I transport using Malone Downloader Kayak Carrier ( $ 160.00) using the stock crossbars. Carry it on my shoulder from the car to the water. I also built a PVC cart for longer distances (parts cost around 40 bucks).
Link for the kayak cart plans I used:

This is my new-to-me 1975 nice little bass fishin' boat! I'm 20 years old and this is my first boat. It's been on the water once now under my ownership and I abbbbbbsolutely love it! 400 bucks, 15 foot, nice rolley trailer, all lights work on the boat and the trailer.
Has a nice flat bottom floor for standing and casting from anywhere in the boat. I'm still looking for a 10 horse motor for her but for now I'm just using a 36lb Minn Kota trolling motor which cruises her around just fine for my small local lakes. First time out I caught some 2 lb Largemouth (not bad for my area) and had a ~4 lb dogfish come racing to the surface chasing my texas rig. It scared the CRAP outta me!
I look forward to catching some monsters on this baby!
Thats a nice starter! I would buy one of those myself if I could find one as decent as that.

This is my first boat and I'm pretty proud!

Here's my ride - 8' Sun Dolphin Sportsman - have had it about 2 months - upgraded seat - changed out TM from transom to bow and added a rudder - added pole holders and some other accessories. my next project will be a plywood with carpet floor.
I just bought a 15.5 ft 1995 Tidecraft Spitfire XL bass boat with a 40HP Mariner motor and have been having a great time. Its a little smaller than I want long term, as I am a bigger guy. However, it's been fun and it was cheap. These pics are from when I went to look at it and picked it up. I have since replaced the fishing seats, replaced the trolling motor with a MK V2, and upgraded the ancient B&W hummingbird with a 597ci HD DI unit. I'm reworking most of the wiring now, as I don't like the spaghetti wires running all over the inside of the hull and in my way. I'm almost done there and will also install a good fuse panel.
Next on the list is to replace all the switched and maybe rework the dash a bit. I like to tinker.
Started off buying an 12 ft aluminum Cadillac with 3.5 Evenrude motor & 36 lbs mini kota( The Orca) , then I found a great deal on a Star Craft 70 hs that we modified into a family fishing boat(The Argo), 70 lb motor guide troller on front and replaced the ski seats with captain’s chairs on swivels, positioned the middles seat that it can come out to open up the back for the kids to fish off, all in all I love these two boats not many places we can't get to.
Here is my 1959 Steury. It has an 8lb, yes 8lb Minn Kota trolling motor and a 1952 Evinrude Fleetwin 7.5hp. It's my first boat and as a 17 year old without a job, I love it! It started off pretty crappy but I'd say I've turned it into my definition of nice, at least nice for me. I still have to paint the outside black to cover up the nasty green.
All carpet just like a Nitro Z-9
That's awesome. Feels nice to fix something up like that doesn't it.
1989 Ranger 361V with a 2000 Yamah VMax 150 HPDI. I bough tth eboat used for a good price but ended up doing everybit of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the boat an motor that wasn;t done in who knows how many years. It took until this month (July 13) to get every thing firing on all cylinders the way it should be. I bought the boat in late March of 13. She scoots along at at GPS'd top speed of right at 58 MPH with my best at 54.7 knots or 63 MPH. I don't run it wide open though. Had to rework a bunch of wiring, the Garmin GPS unit just went, the display will not work but the unit does. If I jiggle the wires to the screen it will display intermittently. Replaced ALL of the filters on the motor( to include 'Mystery filters), the LP fuel pumps, Spark Plugs, Water pump, PRV (poppet) valve, de-carboned the engine, lower unit lube to name a few. Repaired live well valves back into operation (remote operated) and pumps, replaced wiring to front fish finder, re glued exisitn gcarpet in spots (waiting to replace all eventually). There still is a lot of little work to do but nothing that keeps it from being operational. After nto having a boat fro many years it sure is nice to have this one and not have th ehuge bill of a new one! (Although the wife was at the point of "one more repair and it's getting sold" luckily I got that under control with the new water pump!).
Any way enough rambling. I love fishing, especially bass fishing, I'm new to this site and making a resurgance to Bass fishing but have been fishing for more than two decades now. Look forward to the site!.
Nice job, looks great! But I am curious what are those tabs that come up through the floor

New to me 16.5' 1995 Skeeter 1650 with a Mercury 75 hp. I've used some nice hull cleaner from bass pro shops to remove the scum line since these pictures and have a nice coat of wax on it now. Next I'll replace the batteries and on board charger. Gotta remember to slow down and enjoy it from time to time! When she tags along, my girlfriend will tan on the back while I fish off the front. We love it.

2012 Tracker 175 TF
Here is my new rig ...... traded my Alumacraft MV 1756SC for this new leftover 2012 Triton 19SE (19'9"). Nice setup with a bunch of XS options and a 225 Optimax Pro XS. The boat came with a Lowrance Mark-5X flush mount in console, I added a HDS 7 Gen 2 Touch on a RAM mount at the console, a HDS 5 Gen 2 on a RAM mount at the bow. Did a Structure Scan ducer and sonar ducer off the transom and a sonar ducer up front on the trolling motor. Connected the HDS units on an Ethernet network to allow sharing the Structure Scan ducer, waypoints, ect. Also added a wireless access point and external GPS antenna.
d**n! Almost didn't post mine after seeing Tate's but here's my lean, green fishing machine. It's a Raddison 12' wide transom canoe. It's good for me and 1 light person. With the outriggers we can both stand comfortably. I've got an old Min Kota 40# motor and a marine battery. It gets the job done. My 15 yr old daughter and I have had fun in it while she was up from NC for a few weeks.

It works great. Plus I can take each outrigger off with the twist of a knob or take the whole outrigger/dashboard assembly off by 2 different knobs.
I forgot the trailer updates. I still need to get pics of it undressed. Everything was shot a couple weeks back. Paint is done, boat also got new registration stickers that are not mailbox letters. It also got a new vin sticker from the manufacturer, new decals on the motor(after paint), new transom tied downs and a new trailer jack.
Estimated about $300 in restoration without the tools.
Looking good!
I remembered to get some pics last night. All I need is new carpet and some new lockers built in next spring.

I'm at a loss for what to do with the antique on the console? Lol I haven't even turned it on yet to see if it works! I'd like to just put a 898-999 out to the side but I want something decent in the console?
The one on the bow I just sat there. It's a 858 but it will work with the built in ducer ... I'm not sold on that unit and have listed it in the flee market and may replace it with a 998-999 I just hate how the cable goes on that shaft.

Is that just a quick release mount? My motorguide wireless is a quick release and I never remove it. The boat is stored inside so theft is not a big problem and I got 5k worth of insurance to cover tackle rods and fish finders...

Thanks everyone for the compliments.
$13500.
Looks like you can put a RAM mount on the side of the console where the rod ramp ends for a bigger graph. Looks like plenty of room. Maybe put an aluminum plate over the dash hole, and mount a 700 series Bird to the plate. It's not too heavy, the base has a small footprint and a quick release.
Or a plastic plate and have the whole dash hydro-dipped
Yea no problems on having room on the side with a ram mount... But with that I don't see allot of need for the 700 so I'm still looking for something to do with the dash. I've thought about a hydraulic jack plate and put the trim gauge there but I can't swing all that now.
On a side note, I've seen telescopic mounts on the bow for fish finders but I have no idea who makes them? Andy ideas?
They look like they extend around 16"
I think I found them

It's an adjustable slide bracket, you can move it 6" so the unit is out of the way. The terrova really sticks out and can smack against the bow roller or anything close by. It saved my butt more times than I can count getting in and out of certain waters

^^^^^Very cool....give us pic updates as you go along!
Looks pretty good as it sits
Very nice needs2hunt. Please keep us updated, specifically on the deck extension process as a buddy of mine has that exact same boat and is looking to extend his deck this winter as well.
This is mine. Shes not new but she will last forever. Need to recarpet and get new seats, but Im pretty happy otherwise. 20' of 3/16 aluminim goodness and she rides at least as good as my dads 18'4" 91 Champ.

Its a Broadhead, made by a company in Orange Texas, they are no longer in business.

I'll say. Reminds me of the hull on my Xpress, but with better lines, topside.
It looks fast! Does it have a back deck?
Its similar to an xpress, but heavier 3/16" aluminum. Fully decked, just like a fiberglass boat. As for fast, not really, the boat is pretty heavy and very wide. Best Ive got is 46 WOT on GPS. The engine is a 2.0L 150, a newer engine with a larger displacement would probably help a good bit. That will come in time. The boat is vesy stable, Ive walked the rails around the entire boat and she hardly lists at all.

I recently got a Wilderness Ride 115X.
Getting a bit older and recently had back surgery (something I would rather not repeat) so I decided that putting it on top of my SUV with 20" tires and rims was not an option for this heavier fishing kayak.
I picked up a little 4'x6' utility trailer and I should be able to handle the weight of getting it on and off without a problem.
It's low to the ground and much easier than stripping the console with the sonar/FF and seat out of the boat just to get it down to around 72#.
I may have to put some carpet on the wooden frame I made up for the kayak to sit on but I think the wood should be OK.
Now if the winds will die down just a bit (this is our worst month of the year) I will get this thing in the water!

No I never have. I would like to but given the fact that I've never been there, never fished it, and wouldn't know where to begin, I just don't think it'd be prudent to drive an hour away to get skunked. I get that just fine here. Don't get me wrong, I would love to but just don't have any experience in doing so.

You're absolutely right and I appreciate the push to do something new, become better and have more fun in the process. The problem is right now I am so new at this I'm completely lost, can't barely read my electronics let alone catch fish. So I think before I do so perhaps I need to learn such things locally to apply to something as big as that lake.
I've also been talking so someone else and telling them that not only do I have SO much to learn, I need to find that technique I am good at and can gain confidence in fishing anywhere at anytime to catch fish and have fun. To me it's all about fun and that means putting as many fish in the boat as I can in the limited amount of time that I have on the water due to outside responsibilities. I don't want to be a pro, I just want to have fun.
Go up to the navionics site, and scout your new lake online. Combine that with google earth, and pit a plan together. When you get on the water, you'll have confidence when a spot you picked out looks "fishy."

I was on there looking a week or two ago, I thought it was pretty cool that I was able to do so. I might just do this but I think I'll wait for the fall bite to come on so that I can't lose no matter what. Of course I'll end up putting that statement to the test but I'll give the old bass fishing try. To be honest, I don't know what I'm really looking for. I know all the terminology and how to read a map but I don't know how to put it together. I'm guessing just time on the water will get that accomplished along with learning some other quality fishing techniques such as jig fishing and dropshotting.
I'll tell you what, I'll come up to Rochester sometime, I'll even sleep in the back of my Jeep, and you teach me how to fish for a weekend. I'll buy the beers after we're done for the day.

Really? I've heard decent things about the lake. Of course as with any other boating lake it has it's off days due to boat traffic but everyone around here talks about "The Pak" as if it's an amazing lake.
I'm definitely sure I want to try it someday, and probably fairly soon, but as I pointed out earlier and as you pointed out now, I'd rather learn the science of things before I head up there on my own without any guidance.
It's the only big lake in PA.
You're welcome up here, but you don't have to sleep in the truck. Not sure what I can teach you that can't figure out yourself, but there's sure a lot of places to fish up here. Every day on the water is a learning process.

Sold my Prowler Big Game to clayton. Still have my Bullet and Xpress boaits. Been playing around in this, a Jackson Cuda. It's not my favorite boat, and has some issues with it's design, but as a simplified craft for small water, especially with current, it works.
It's settled. My winter project is to find a sensible 14ft aluminum boat to intelligently customize so I can bring my 8yo stepson out more easily to have Quabbin- and so I don't get hosed on the dock like last time when they were out of rentals. (They need conservation seals to be allowed on, so you need a dedicated boat)
It has to happen. I need it in my life!! That said, what say you oh wise boat sages- v bottom or flat bottom? (Small motor, low deck and sensible seating)

Semi V is the preference for many of the NYC ressy anglers as well. There's some that prefer the extra room a flat jon provide.
Changed up my Hobie armada for the upcoming year. I added two new hulls - one is the new Hobie Outback which I will post later once I get it on the water and rigged. I christened her properly last week with an inshore slam of striper, redfish and speckled trout.

Sweet boat! I like that color scheme.
I'm a boat owner again! Man it was a rough season with nothing but a johnboat but I finally found the right one. Had to drive almost to Wisconsin to get it but it was worth the drive for the deal I got on it. 2012 189 Stratos VLO with a 150 Mercury Optimax Pro XS, 80lb Maxxum, dual side imaging/down imaging/mapping Garmins are in route for it. The previous owners used it less than 6 times, I put more miles on the trailer hauling it home than it had on it. More than a little pumped up about it.

Hey guys,
I'm new to bass resource and hope to familiarize myself with everyone. I posted my introduction in the intro forum and was told by a guy to post my boat in here. It's a 2004 Gambler 2200 DC with a 2004 250 HP Mercury outboard. Brand new Minn Kota maxxum 80lb thrust trolling motor. My main fish finder is a Lowrance Elite series 7 chirp. Looking to sell it in the near future though and not too sure about what else I would enjoy the same way.
Here are some pics

Was checking this out at the boat show last weekend and I have to say you could have a decent size party on the front deck of that boat! Seems that color options are endless too.

Legend sponsors the club I fish and gives away 3 boats at our TOC. They do make a nice boat and have a pretty good attention to detail. What I like is that they are a semi custom manufacturer and the boat can be factory ordered rigged just the way you like it. You're not stuck to one brand of graphs or trolling motors or anchors or whatnot. I've never been in one. Our local rep was giving test rides at the last TOC I attended and I watched. The hull handles well.
My new ride.
I've been boatless for a year. My wife wanted a pontoon boat , something that she could enjoy. After much searching , I found this 22 foot Lowe semi v deck boat . Put an 80 lb thrust elec. motor on it and a couple of new depthfinders and we are both tickled. Only got to fish out of it once this fall. It was a very windy day and the boat fished much better than I thought it would. Never mind the messy garage. I had to move things out of the way to get the boat to fit.

Right side steering traces back to two things. Before motors, the steering oar was on the right, and boats moored with the dock to the left (where the term "port" originates. Later, as motors were used, having the extra weight on the right to counter the effect of a clockwise rotating prop worked best.

Yeah owned a comp. hull 20' Bullet with a 300 pro XS too fast for me, scary, high 90s! Had a Bullet that I have on this thread that I loved was a low 80s boat with a 250XS. Heard the Strokers are the best driving of the go fast boats.

Nice rig, I doubt you would have much problem busting that magic dollar with it empty. i guess I would probably have to empty her and find out for my own satisfaction. I enjoy performance boats, have owned Allison, Bullet, & Norris Craft, but my favorite is Bullet. It would be great to see a comparison of the top performance boats equally powered with an agreed prop to get the playing field a little more level because if you drop in beside an Allison or Bullet built by Nichols Marine or Reynolds Racing it is hard to get an honest boat comparison. These guys can build some serious power.
I'm thinking you'll see better speeds from the Stroker, they're just easier to drive. There's a guy on YouTube with footage of him going over 110 in his Stroker. Got a load and his girl in the boat with him, too.

It was a 1978 SST 17'. I bought it in 1982 and had a 140 Johnson built for it.It was a great handling boat to be a 17 footer and PDQ as well.

I've seen some of the videos of the Strokers. I would love to fish in and drive one. They do look easier to drive than most Bullets & Allisons. One of my biggest things with those boats is I live 2 miles from where Bullets are made, 12 miles from Allison and about 30 miles from Norris Craft. It can be really handy if you need help.

I watched some of those videos again and they really do appear to be a super handling ride. The guys girlfriend either had a lot of guts or no choice to be in there at 110.
I know I really have to drive my 21XDC with a 2.5. I've settled with a cupped 27 Trophy Plus and a cav plate. I get silly hole shots, planes at 15 mph, and can run at 75, with room for more top end. That's generally faster than most guys boats that do "75" by a lot. Anyway, when I go up in props, like 29 or 30, I get a ton of speed, but lose all the rest. And it's not fun to drive.

Sounds like a good combo, hole shot, good top end, all you need. I agree that fast bullets are not for first timers. I have seen several sold thru the years where first time owners bought bought a fast bullet and got scared to death and sold them. I want to retire in the next year or so and have been watching for someone to do that with an XRS. I spoke with Bill at Bullet a couple of weeks ago and asked him about a dual console XRS. He said they may try it next year. That would be a dream rig for me and my wife as well.

Nice rig. How do you like the Power-Pole Micro?
Love it. For small watercraft up to and including Jon boats, it's a no brainer.
20 years old and still looks fast on the trailer.
Impressive and looks well taken care of too!
Good looking rig, they do look fast sitting anywhere, but then again most are!!!!!
Here's my beast. Big enough for me and goes as fast as I want to go. Storage sucks though.
15 1/2ft 1989 Sea Nymph with a 25hp. Huge livewell which is wasted since I don't keep fish. Need to turn it into storage. My first boat and a great starter.
^^^That's a great boat man. I remember a tourney I fished a bunch of years ago, probably 80-90 boats. This one team was in a 14ft aluminum with a 9.9 on it; had a cooler with an aerator for a live well, dusted by every single boat upon blastoff.....and came in like 4th or somewhere in that area. I was wicked happy for them. I guess what I'm saying is it ain't the boat that catches fish.
1993 Norris Craft 20 XLDVee.200 H.P. Mercury which is a little over stock. It is running a 27 pitch 4 blade prop. I am the second owner of the boat It is well maintained as you can see by the pics. The cap, hull, carpet, seats, and trailer are all original .She still turns heads on the trailer as well as on the water, not bad for a 22 year old boat.
Nice Sea Nymph Ringonu!

I love it. Lund stopped making the Predator in 2013 but I've seen a couple with 2014 graphics on them. The Predator is more or less a multispecies bass boat. If I was to buy a current model, it would be a ProV GL. Most of the current line up tin models have limited front deck space. The build quality is exceptional and the usage of available storage space is well thought out. It rides solid and feels safe, even in nasty stuff.

Hello. I just joined this site and i hope someone can help me identify the make of bassboat i have. First there is a missing decal at the back that once said Adventure 175, the hull number is ZJU175AD1E787 It is single console fibreglass with a Mariner 150 Magnum on it. The guy i bought it from thought it was a Century bassboat but i can find no info on Century boats. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cool. Now, I'm on the fence between either a Lund or a Yar Craft 209 tfx. I looked at one this past weekend and it was a gorgeous boat. I was sold on a Lund until I looked at that boat!
Freshwater/Saltwater
This is my water ride these days. The outrigger I made for it allows me to stand with absolute confidence and cast all day. I installed an anchor system that keeps me planted.
I mounted a couple Ram mounts for my 5xHDI and iphone with map app. I run with two batteries so I'm good for a full day without worry and they balance weight distribution.. Rod holder is attached to the trolling motor mount. Top speed with the endura Max 55 is 4 mph.
My first boat.
Replacing seats is first on the list.
My first boat a 2015 Triton 17TX
Sweet ,congrats
Congrats on your first ride! Enjoy!!
Figured since we have finally got the thing running okay I'd post it here.
My parents bought me this for a graduation present and I was in love the second I saw it, its a 15ft 1980 Lowe with a 1980 25HP mercury. When they bought it just had the motor and the two low seats, the high seats, trolling motor, and battery are all brand new.
I feel so spoiled..... When they said they were thinking about getting me a boat I was thinking more like a 12' jon boat... But I'm okay with this! Lol
Congrats and good fishing .............
These are my rides, Wavewalk W500 and 2 W300. I sold the green W300 with the trolling motor with foot
controlled steering the get another W500 so I could add an outboard and get rid of the batteries and
be able to fish for as long as I want without running out of battery power, which lasted 6 hours with two wheel chair batteries placed down inside the hulls.
Stable, fast, and add a Motor for long trips and rivers, yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaa!
I've been in a lot of conditions, caught in storms, and these babies roll with the punches.
I've Caught LMB, SMB, Stripers, Pike......next up Carp, the submarines of the fresh water.
Can't wait to go for that ride, the Stripers towed me all over the place toooo, it was Awesome!

Can't get much water time in to break it in with the weather
I fish from a 2008 G3 Eagle 170 coupled with a Yamaha 90hp 2-stroke.
I've had it for almost 2 years and I love it. Its lightweight but it handles well and the 90hp pushes it just fine and gets pretty good fuel economy.
Here's my 1998 Alumacraft Lunker V16 LTD with a 2014 Yamaha F25 25hp four stroke. Also, it has the original 35lb thrust MinnKota on it which puts it along just fine. I inherited this boat last year from my grandfather who only ever had a trolling motor on it because the lakes we used to fish didn't allow gas motors. This boat is great! I got a Lowrance HDI 7 on it which performs great and according to that and gps on my phone, I can achieve 26mph with just me and a full of tackle.
Here's a better picture.
I took it out for the first time and my first time on a boat, it was a learning experience.
On 5/28/2015 at 8:29 PM, WPCfishing said:This is my water ride these days.
I have an almost identical setup- C2 Endura 55lb with a custom mount on a 14.5 ft canoe- minus the outrigger and the extra battery which I plan to get soon.
If you want a bit extra speed check out Kipawa aftermarket props. http://www.kipawapropellers.com/propellers.htmlStock MK trolling motor props are built with a shallow angle for slowly shifting around full size boats at <1mph not cruising small boats at >4mph at which point they start to drag more than they propel.

So you're recommending the aftermarket kip prop?

This is my boat, 1999 Tracker Pro Angler Deep V16, Come with a 40hp Mercury Force and a 9.8B Nissan. When I first got it in January it came with the Tracker vinyl stickers and trim but over 15 years of deck rub and wear I made some changes; removed the vinyl, wet sanded the paint, buffed and polished, rhino lined the rail, made my own rub rail. This winter Im going to re due the deck, carpet (going Charcoal gray) , add storage, deck LED lights and hopefully next year re-power to a Nissan or Evenrude 60-70hp

Took her out for the first time this morning. Drove well. I have never had an outboard before so I do not know quite what to expect. GPS had her at 35 MPH with 2 adults. Never really sure what to expect, but seems to be fast enough for what I need it for.
Don't have any of it recent. This is it when I bought it earlier this spring. Previous owner kind of neglected it, so I have spent a lot of time (and cash) working on it, but I've done all the work myself and its running perfectly now. I only paid a grand for it, so I can't really complain.
I am going to have to install some new fish finders though and plan on reflooring, recarpeting and adding a bait well during the colder months this winter. The current fish finders are Humminbird Piranha Max 10s which are probably older than I am. I am planning on installing Garmin Echo 551 DVs. I also already installed the green LED lights to attract bait fish and night.. and they work amazingly.
It's a 1990 Javelin 378 FS with a 1979 Johnson 140 hp v4. In fairly good shape, two working live wells stern and bow. Seats 5 but that would be rather crowded. I plan on removing the center seat in the rear and turning the area it's mounted over into a baitwell as well as making a step for the aft fishing platform.

First tournament of the year. Boat wanted to fish without me lol
My river rat.
My canoe:
-Old Town Guide 14'7"
-MinnKota C2 55lb trolling motor
-Bullnose TM Rudder
-Kipawa deep pitch weedless propeller
-Kayak Fin Skeg mounted at the bow end
-Kayalu Kayalite Navigation lights
-custom motor mount
Fin skeg at the front end has improved tracking somewhat. It can maintain course a lot better with a headwind. It would probably work better if it was mounted more forward but the bottom of the boat isn't quite flat enough past this.
Attached the skeg to the hull with JB weld epoxy. The first job was kind of half assed and it actually came off. Second time I made sure to sand it down, clean it, blow torch it, and used a lot more epoxy. Much stronger now.
C2 55lb is about as much thrust as my canoe mount will take. It is abut 4.0-4.2 mph on a full battery in calm water according to my navionics.
Mount I made out of maple and has held up well the past 4-5 years. No concerns about anything coming loose but I do keep a safety rope tied to the motor just in case.
If you ever make a mount like this for a canoe make sure to use 1/2" or bigger carriage bolts. I think mine are 5/8. It's important because you need to torque them down every trip out without stripping the threads. Maple or another quality hardwood is important too. Pine will definitely not last, and anything plastic will warp. Don't think any commercial products will hold up long.
Bullnose rudder has helped with turning, adjusting the direction of the boat when going longer distances. The Kipawa prop is deeper pitch so acceleration is less, top speed is more.
Kayalu Kayalite Navigation lights from amazon.
Nav lights will last about 72 hrs on AAs

I have a Minnkota Ulterra 24 volt 80Lbs thrust with I-Pilot Link and a Hummingbird 899Ci with DI and SI and Hotmaps lakes Platinum in front I have a DragonFly 4 Pro with Hotmaps Gold . Only issue I have is dead space behind front pedestal which I am going to extend deck anyway. Love my rig just the rite size for me and 53 MPH is fine by me .

It tows it but it works hard. Its rated for like 6000lbs but I wouldn't recommend it for a large glass boat. On flat ground it got like 13MPG. Guy in my club has a Puma he tows with a TDI toureg and it's a beast. Diesel is the way to go.

"First let me say; "I've enjoyed looking at the many 'Older Bass Boats/Fishing Boats' under the topic, 'Show Your Ride'.
Living 15 miles from a lake with 250 miles of shoreline and 43,800 surface acres. Having plenty of time on my hands, and that fact that I've always wanted a Bass Boats. I thought to myself, "Well, now's my chance!"
Also being an ex-blue collar worker with just under 5 grand to spend, now that I'm retired, I started shopping around.
It didn't take long to get confused about what I thought I wanted. So many to chose from. Not to mentioned the junk that is available on the used-market. Who to trust and who not to trust.
Well, to make a long story short... I placed my trust in a Marina. They mainly sold new...top of the line watercraft. But there sat to the side, a one owner trade in from a fellow older than I who just took home the latest & greatest.
Was this my day or what? Who knows. All I can say is this old school 85 hp Evinrude, 4 cylinder, 2 stroke runs like a charm. The dealer had his crew go though a series of maintenance checks and tune-ups on the Old Evinrude, put in a new water pump and assured me that it was all the motor that I would ever need. Sitting under the engine was a "98 Laser Bass Boat. I bought it, took and had it wet-sanded down and re-gel coated, and I've been fishing for two months now. I've been having so much fun that I've decided that I'm going to have to get serious and learn how to catch the Large Mouth Bass like you guys. (Smile) Anyways... Great to see that I'm not the only one that has got the fishing bug!"

Thank you. Hole shot was affected very slightly but not much. I notice a lot of guys have theirs sitting too low and they drag the water on take off. I have mine sitting as high as the bracket allows, the anchor depth will only be a couple of inches shallower. Mine don't drag at all on take off. They are by far the single best investment I have made on my boat, won't have another bass boat without them.

Very nice boats here.
I can't compare mine to most, but it fills it's purpose of getting my Dad out on the water for fishing on the weekends.
I bought it in June and so far this summer had a great time.
It's a Tracker 1436 from Bass Pro Shops. Electric setup, no gas motors around here.
Thanks.
And for when I feel like going small & solo
Haven't seen anyone post any pics of a Yar-craft (now owned by BassCat). Here's the 1997 brochure boat... re-powered with a new Yamaha 4 stroke, Shorelander trailer, dual Hummingbird 998's and iPilot Link. Its a smallmouth river catching machine! But Yar-craft hulls are also known as wave-eaters too and have had it out on Rainy Lake and other waters with 3 footers with ease. A very versatile 2 man rig!
ive got a few all bees the first is my largest bumble it is an 89 king bee the boats solid and has a v4 evinrude on the back with a motorguide on the front ive had it for 4-5 years.the second is technically in my dads name but im the one that uses it it is a 94 v254 bee with a johson 70 on the back it has been garage kept its whole life and it shows it even has the original carpet.the third be is a project that is in 2 parts as of now its getting a complete rebuild with coosa board.

I like the center console, looks like you can get to places bigger boats won't be able to.
Hers my 10yr old daughter boat. She paid $350 of her own money she has been saving all year for it. WE use it to fish some family ponds. We have 5 ponds ranging from 2 acres to 40 that we can fish. You think we would have a real boat being we have had a lake house with a empty boat lift on Lake Seminole in GA for over 10 years. But once we sold the pontoon nothing has replaced it. But I'm hoping to do it soon.

Since My last post, I've had some hands-on time with my new-to-me boat and realized that a bigger deck up front would be nice. So here it is... I enlarged to front deck so I could move around without falling off in the excitement of landing those monster size Bass. (Ha,Ha,Ha) Okay, I may be a bit clumsy, but a bigger deck is nice to have. I own 2 boats. A Nitro 185 FS with 150 Evinrude and 55# MK Edge trolling motor.
I also have a Tracker Topper 1436 that I'm working on for the no motor lakes here in Ky.
I've carpeted the flooring and seats added Skeeter bass boat seats and pedestals and installing a MK PowerDrive 50#TM with a CoPilot.
My New ride- '15 PA 14. Just a basic Lowrance Elite 3x ff. Still Working on customization.
This is my boat. A 17ft Carolina Skiff i purchased about a month after my 18th birthday after years of saving. The picture is from the day I went to pick it up. The trolling motor that was on it went out and i switched it out with a riptide saltwater trolling motor since i do make occasional inshore trips. This boat does anything i want to and more.
2014 Skeeter TZX 195. Traded my Ranger in on it last year. I always been a Ranger guy, but the Skeeter ride was so much better, I couldn't ignore it.
Bought this boat this spring. It is a 1997 Lowe Roughneck 17' with a 90 Johnson, Since I have owned it, I have changed out the trolling motor to a MK Edge 55 and changed out the bow fishfinder to a Garmin 551dv.
I had to get a boat for me and my wife . so we compromised and got this 22 foot Lowe deck boat .

From everything I've read, Gemini built a pretty hot hull. Depending on the condition of the outboard and the weight he carries and several other factors I see no reason his boat couldn't run 73 with a good 150 behind it. Mine runs low 70s loaded, full of gas, two people and Power Poles. Its only a foot longer with 50 more hp, and almost certainly a much heavier hull.
OK, theres still no way a 150 is pushing a 18ft boat 73mph.
My Bullet 21XDC with a modded ProMax 2.5 w/a 28P cupped and plugged Trophy does about 79, loaded with gear, gas, and two people. 83-84 solo, empty. The hull is under 1300 lbs. I literally RIP by guys with "70s boats" in tournaments, and I'm not even WOT most of the time. Lots of efficiant hulls, with nice ride quality, but some of the claims guys make are like fish stories. There's some good GPS based velocity apps out there for your phone. Let your copilot run it, you drive, and you'll see the real numbers. I know I thought 75 mph must have been like 90 mph the first time I ran my boat WOT, lol.

I’ve done quite a few things to “upgrade” or enhance the experience. Crate with yakattack rod holders, yakattack cellblok fishfinder mount with adjustable rod holder, anchor trolley on each side of the yak, 8’ stake out pole, forward laying rod holders (fashioned from wall rod holders) the basis of the idea coming from @Fishing Rhino, harmony traction pads.
Lastly, the unit is powered by a 30# Minn Kota, the inspiration for it came largely from @Darren.. My dad helped me fashion the metal mounting bracket. Steering is controlled by the foot pedals and the forward/reverse controls are on my left hand side right at the yakattack cellblok (small little black disk in the photo).
Last and absolutely not least is the electric hoist I mounted in my garage to assist with getting the yak up over my garage door clearance. I know it’s not 100% balanced, but it works until I figure out a better balancing method!

Yes, I know that to be true, but here kayaks don't need to be. Unless you motorize it. Just want to let the guy know if he ain't gonna motorize it that he doesn't have waste his money on registering it.

it seems logical sure, but i can't seem to get it so that the connections are then tight enough to get the proper clearance over my garage door (the stretch in the rope is too great with the increase in distance). the yak has to be basically touching my ceiling in order for my garage door to open and close... i'll be tinkering with it some while it's cold out until i come up with the proper solution.
You can try plastic coated cables, they won't stretch

Yes, there are a couple places where even a kayak has to be registered. I can't remember where - NJ maybe? There's a couple guys on the Wildy Pro Team with me that have to do it, and they do not have motors.

Don't forget fuel. Mid to upper 40's is probably a good guesstimate. Might hit 50 if you can get motor height and prop right. Does it have an aluminum or stainless prop? Stainless is going to give you better performance but they also cost about 4 times more than an aluminum. Aluminum is going to be more forgiving and cheaper to repair/replace if you hit something.
Right now its has a Alum 17p 3blade. yeah fig the boat weight with a full tank at 6Lbs/30 gallons. so 180Lbs. and 500 is for us. Mercs prop selector said a 17 should put us close to 50mph but I'm fig prop slip/wind/temp of water and air. Putting the errors in I fig in the mid 40s.
I would like to put a 3 blade SS for the strength and better cupping or a 4 blade alum for midrange but in time will tell what we will want.

Here's mine. 2012 Lowe 18 HP Stinger with 115 Mercury 4 Stroke.
@Firefish Tracker I'm thinking your boat will run in the upper 30's with your current prop. That's if your 115 can run that 17 pitch up to the 6000 RPM mark which I think it can. If you look at perfect theoretical speed of that prop/motor/lower unit combo it comes out to about 46 1/2 MPH. That's assumed with 0% slip which isn't realistic. Race boats will run in the 5% to 8%, and a well setup bass boat will be right around that 10% slip. These are with stainless props which usually have a better grip on the water and their hulls lift more to decrease drag in the water. Being that your boat is a bit bigger and of a deeper design than a bass boat and has more of a weight forward design, I think it's going to be slipping more than 10%. How much is the question and pretty much the only way to tell is to run it. Given your boat and motor combo, I think the difference between aluminum and stainless props will be a night and day difference if you get the right one. Best thing you can do is get out there and start testing it out!
Here's a good read on basics of setting up your boat for more speed.

From what I see a 17p-19p spitfire or SS Some guys are doing 4 blade 17p but they're looking for more lift with a lot of fishing gear. Thinking when I get it fully loaded for salmon and walleye its going to slow me down with down riggers, kicker 9.8hp nissan, and 3 other fishing buddys

It will slow you down some, but I would think with the bigger displacement it'll have a bit more torque than the older model and perform more consistently with the heavier loads.
Updating my pics with a new to me ride, 2000,19' ProCraft super pro 200 with a 200 merc to push her around, she needs a little TLC but she's 2' longer with a lot more storage and a lot more deck space than what I had.

I have enjoyed the yak this past season. I know the struggle is real, I've bought a Helix 5 SI, RamTransducer arm, Ram Helix mount, and hardware to mount it all, and I also just recieved my Feelfree Uni Bar Dashboard. Now I can mount my Helix 5 SI and phone to take pics right in front of me... So yes the winter is tough on the wallet. I'll be updating this thread with the new set up.
Crazy good weather in RI. No ice so I put the canoe in the water to get a feel and look, this is the first time in the water since the restoration. The motor was bogging above mid throttle but the canoe was all that I expected. We rebuilt the carb a few days ago and the motor is running great now. It's been cold for a couple days so I'm not sure when I'll get out on the water again. I'll keep busy with the additions to the canoe while I wait for April weather.

I love it, its been a great boat. I had a 17ft tracker before and that doesn't come close to competing with this boat. plenty of storage and rides great. My only gripe is I wish I could have found the 186 or 196 but this one took me long enough to find.

Are you going to put a gas motor on it?

WPCfishing, yeah i have updated the boat a bit, but im not sure about a gas one, but i am gonna start off with a trolling first.
This is my 14ft flatbottom. I drug it out of the weeds and bought it from a guy that hadn't fished out of it in years. It leaked terrible and all the wood was rotten. New transom, some silicone and some flex-seal lol and it don't leak anymore. I built the casting deck out of 2×4s and old aluminum road signs. Yeah its red neck. This is a picture I took of my brother and his friend fishing out of it.

I'm surprised there's not more guys running similar setups, seems to be either bass boats, johnboats, or kayaks with very little in between. This is my "compromise" ride. It's a great all around family boat for riding, tubing, cruising etc that I outfitted with a removable casting platform in the bow and a quick release trolling motor. I can go from fishing mode to "dad" mode in less than a minute so it's just perfect for me. This is the third boat I've rigged like this and really got it right this time. It's a '98 Bayliner Capri 1950 with a 140 Mercruiser. Bought it two years ago from a local guy who had it since new and never used it. He ran a limo company and it would sit in the garage with the limos and only got used once or twice a year. The boat is 17 years old and looks almost brand new. I love it.
It's not quite the Triton TR20 I had in the past but it floats.

I love this boat. What brand and size is it. I just upgraded my hull this year to a 1648 Grizzly and love it. I havent carpeted it yet because I may go with hydro turf but i love the simple lay out of the boat. I am also thinking about upgrading to the terrova with iPilot. I want the spotlock features and stuff the ipilot comes with but i like the better control capabilities that come from the cable drive i have now. How do you like that terrova? If i could figure out how to make my pictures under .15mb then i would post pics of mine.

The actual brand is a Weldbuilt 1648. It started as a bare hull and I did all of the rest. I actually have waterproof foam mats that go in the middle part of the floor as well. Just not in that pic. Maybe this week I will get a fully updated pic with front transducer and middle mats. I like the Terrova for the spot lock. I do not like the stow method of it, and hope someday they will come out with an easier way, not the ulterra though. Haha.
As far as pics, upload them to the gallery on here, or to a hosting site and it will be a non-issue.
