Tracker 2018 Heritage/2019 Classic edition boat 2024

fishing user avatar12poundbass reply :

Anybody seen the new 40th anniversary boat? It's a great price at $9995, but the "chocolate Brown" carpet and seats aren't my cup of tea. I know it's a throw back boat, but whoa those colors are ugly. The hub caps are cool though. LOL

For you guys who lived and remember the 70's do you look back and cringe at the browns, yellows, and pea greens used all over the place? Those were some hideous colors. ????

fishing user avatartander reply :

I had a 1984 Bass Tracker. Back then, I think you had 3 different models, all of them were brown. I didn't think that the brown was so bad. I guess different strokes for different folks. :D

fishing user avatarTim Kelly reply :

Colour fashion is cyclical. If you look at car colours there are starting to be a few bronzes and other brownish tones available. After years of grey and silver there is at last a return to a bit of colour. I think it looks just fine. It is supposed to be a bit of a statement boat and it achieves it's purpose very well. I expect they will be very popular and you will see lots of them over the next few years with the water lapping at the rear decks with a couple of big guys from Jersey flinging senkos around. :)

fishing user avatar12poundbass reply :

I don't doubt they'll be popular. It's a pretty good deal for a boat like that, plus the cover, plus a $400 gift card to Bass Pro/Cabelas.

I didn't see any specs on it, I'm guessing it's a 16'?

It’s a 16’ 8”

looks like a solid solid deal to me.

I’d like to see one in person. Especially with the pressed bottom. Most of the trackers I’ve seen in person at Bass Pro had some really bad welds on them.

Just wish i didn’t fish HP restricted lakes. Wonder what it would cost with a 9.9.

It would be interesting to see if they come with other motor options or if it's an all or nothing package.

So these HP restricted lakes (which I've never heard of until joining this site) you can't put a bigger motor in and just idle? What is the purpose of a HP restricted lake? We have "no wake" lakes here (very few) which everyone respects.

I’m guessing it’s an all or nothing. Easy way to keep the price down.

In some lakes around me, SE Va, you can still have a main big engine like a 40hp or whatever, with either the prop removed or the gas line removed. They cannot run. Most of these lakes are city water supply lakes too. However, in some you can’t even have the bigger engine. So a 9.9 kicker would work. But a 9.9 pushing a boat that size isn’t easy. Plus the weight of the main engine.

My guess for this is due to the layout/size of the lakes. A lot of them are not really wide open, but long and narrow. Maybe it’s a skier thing too.

fishing user avatar12poundbass reply :

froni was just looking at my Tracker book and I compared this boat to the Pro 160.

This boat is 6 inches longer

8 inches wider on the bottom

6 inches wider at the beam

Retail for the Pro 160 is $11,995!

That's a heck of a deal actually!

The only thing I'm scratching my head about is a cover for the 175 TXW is $475 so why is the one for the heritage $700? Because it's free?

fishing user avatarDirtyeggroll reply :

I think the Heritage model would make an excellent budget starter boat. The $400 gift card is just enough to get a Garmin with Sonar, side imaging and GPS (w/out maps).

Finance it for as long as possible and then sell it to upgrade in a couple years because I bet it will hold its value and one could get most of their money back.

Hmm...

fishing user avatarAl w. reply :

Just saw this boat earlier today.  I kind of like it.  It does look like a good price for a boat that is almost 17 ft. long.  It also has a 4 stroke motor.  When I first saw it, I thought it may not have a trolling motor or fishfinder.  But after checking, it has both of those.  Maybe it'll be a good boat for those that are in the market for it.  Nice retro look.

If you finance that boat for 10 or 12 years your going to be upside down on it before it ever gets wet.

If you make a sizable down payment it helps of course , but they all depreciate .

I checked on the new boat while at work today. The only option available is a trailer brake upgrade, $445.00. That's it.

If you finance almost anything you'll be upside down on it. Isn't that the American dream? LOL

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

I remember boat colors a little different ????

Down south we had a lot of Skeeters, Rangers, & Champions; everything was Gunmetal or Red on a white hull.

We were more concerned catching bass than making a fashion statement!

Yeah well, like I said they all take a nose dive.. Some brands worse than others.. I would think the market for that boat would be pretty limited on the resale side. But if you fish small lakes 10k won't buy much these days.

fishing user avatarjbuchanan reply :

First to post and new member of the forum. I would like to first say, I wish i had come across this forum years ago. Pretty awesome forum for the avid outdoors man.

I too came across this boat this past Friday. Since selling my most recent Kenner center console due to not wanting to pay storage rental anymore, I have been on the hunt for a home garagable boat.

This boat had caught my eye.

Few of my limiting factors is a garage 20' deep and max boat width (edge of tires) of 7'-9" (preferably slightly less to avoid garage trim damaging). Oh and not to mention affordability. Like to stick below the $10k range.

I have been looking for a 16-17' aluminium with 40-75hp motor. I am side console guy. This boat seems to fit the ticket. From what I gather from looking at the specs and layout. It is the Tracker 170 in length/width but rigged/layed out similar to the Tracker 160.

There are def some upgrades I would want to do sooner than later. 24v trolling motor, GPS/DI/SI graph for console/front, on-board charger, extra fuel tank, recessed trolling motor foot control. These all could be added over a couple years. I am sure I could continue to go on but those are the few major upgrades I would want to make.

One thing I did notice about the boat is it is only rated for 3 people. I dont totally get why it would be rated for 3 people and not the 4 like the 170 is.

When you go to the Tracker website it does make mention motor options are possible, just have to see local dealer. The Tracker 170 allows for 50hp option. How much added performance would one think this 10 extra HP would add.

I am not in it for the speed anymore. Just like to get out and fish.

The retro theme of the boat is actually growing on me.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Just to put things in perspective

Look at the specs.  4 people would probably put it over the total weight rating for passengers, motor, and gear.  I doubt they'd offer anything more then a 40, since the max HP is listed as 40.  You can probably order a smaller motor for HP restricted waters.  It's a surprisingly good deal, as is, considering what Catt brought up about the price of motors.  That 40 has to be around $6K alone.  You're probably looking at a little over $11K for the boat with dealer prep, factory rigging, and taxes.

I live near a lake that has a 20 hp restriction. There is a lot of sailboats that use this lake during the summer, and those sailboat owners pay for dock slips. The fishing is phenomenal, so a lot of local guys including myself on 16 to 17 foot aluminum boat with 20 hp motors. A boat like that is big enough for the surrounding bodies of water, but there are times when you’re on a full power lake with your 16 foot aluminum that you feel very small.

fishing user avatarjbuchanan reply :

JFrancho,

I did look at the specs. The Heritage has a max person weight of 555lb and max person, motor/gear of 1025lbs. The 170 has same 555lb person but 980lb person, motor/gear. The difference I assume where they come up with the 3 person limit is the average package weight of the Heritage is 1704lb vs the 1836lbs of the 170.

I agree with you one would exceed the rated weight recommendation easily whether it was rated for max of 3 or 4 people when you add up three grown men, motor and gear. I was thinking 4 people for the smaller families or buddy fishing with 2 young kiddos bobber fishing with light gear and light weight kids.

Me personally i wouldn't want 4 people in the boat at any given time especially bass fishing. Teaching younger kids or just the basic boat ride with two couples out anchoring and floating is the only time I would entertain four people anyways.

As for the 50hp option, i am also with you the only motor options would be to go lower hp and not any higher. My thoughts on the higher was due to the fact the specs in comparison to the 170 were so close and the 170 offered the 50hp option.

All in all I think for the price this is a good deal on the whole package even at $11k once you add in the typical BPS prep/freight/tax. Like Catt mentioned the motor alone brand new will be running in the $6k range. Basically $5k for boat/trailer and basic accessories is a pretty fair deal.

I have a couple REALLY nice lakes that are restricted for powerboats: 17' and 10 HP max.  My buddy has a 16' Lund w/ a 50hp and  9.9 kicker.  We only run the kicker, and as far as I know, it's legal.

Sounds legal to me. It’s not that you can’t BRING a big engine, it’s that you can’t RUN it.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

@jbuchanan as soon as our dealership down here gets a 40 HP they open it up to 50 HP

I fish out of a Alweld 1652VJT

16' length 52" bottom with a Tohatsu 40 hp

It handles well enough I fish Toledo Bend in it.

6-7 mph top speed.  Plenty fine for the two lakes that are restricted.  We usually launch at the north end, run south, and fish our way back.

I was at my local Tracker dealer today getting a quote on a PT 190 and got a chance to look at one of the 40th anniversary boats.  If I were going to be fishing smaller waters with just two on board I would probably jump on this boat.  IMO it will kill 160 and 170 sales while it's available since is the size of the 170 but priced $2500.00 below the 160 and about $4000.00 below the 170.

I was thinking the same thing on the impact on the 160 and 170 sales. I also think it will effect the used boat sales market on trackers in similar size to more of a buyers market.

Does anyone have any ideas if BPS will produce only certain quantity of these boats or will they keep pumping them out at the price they are offering till demand eases up?

Hate to commit that kind of money without seeing in person.

I tried to launch on a max 10 hp lake last summer with my bass boat that has a 75 hp outboard and the officer told me I couldn't even launch the boat.  I told him that I had been out here before and just used my electric bow mount and he said he would have cited me for being on the lake and exceeding the horsepower maximum.  I'm sure the laws are different by state or even lake specific but where I was, you couldn't even BRING it, much less RUN it.

Needless to say, we are so excited!  In approximately 8 weeks my son and I can officially leave the banks and docks of rivers & creeks and hit the open water in our new boat.   Love the colors.... love the size....love the price....love the smile on my son's face....love the limited edition aspect of this anniversary model (as of now only 2500 will be manufactured)....bottom of the line we absolutely LOVE THIS BOAT!!!!  ????????

Thank you so much!   My son wants to eventually become a part of bass competitions. Personally he’s never caught a bass. And honestly neither have I. But I definitely believe that practice makes perfect and I teach him to always begin with the end in mind (to quote Stephen Covey).   So I am hoping that he and I can learn a lot on this forum and that one day he can be exactly where he wants to be in the world of fishing.   Doing what he loves and what we have been doing together since he was 2 years old.... fishing!

That’s true. But I guess that’s the same with any boat or any vehicle of any kind. Really anything that you finance. But my goal would be to have a substantial down payment (about $2500) and then make $200 a month payments versus $100 a month payments. Regardless we are super stoked about about finally seeing what’s beyond the bend in the creeks we fish from the bank or small dock.  And personally I really love the brown carpet, orange stripe and the tan seats. It’s groovy!   LOL  We are going to love this retro boat!

Congratulations Don!  You and your son are exactly the type of people that I hoped this boat would attract.  It's a great buy and just the ticket to get a father and his son and /or daughter on the water.  It may be the only boat you ever buy or may be one of many in your future.  One thing is for sure, it's the beginning of memories being made and shared for you and your son.

Thank you so much. Truthfully when I took my young son out fishing 8 years ago when he was 2 years old I knew nothing about fishing.  I simply wanted to spend a lot of time with him so I created Daddy/Son Adventure day every week that involved no mommy, no technology, etc.  Simply a day to love my son.   And since there are a lot of waterways near our home it was just an easy way for us to spend time together.....so began the love of fishing.  So this first boat is truly more than just a boat. It’s kind of a passageway for us. The ‘vehicle’ to get out there and explore. Excitement cannot even describe how we feel right now!

PS It will definitely be the first of many boats. My goal is to give him this boat when he gets in high school and then upgrade to get me a bigger boat. But at this point we’re just taking baby steps.  I definitely have a lot to learn. But such is life. ????

That is awesome. Ours will be in around the middle of March. Which is perfect timing for great fishing. I can hardly wait to get my bass tracker out on the water! Congratulations to you and your family on the purchase of your 40th anniversary bass tracker heritage!

The Lowrance Hook2 7X TripleShot is what I'd go for, on sale for $399. Seems like a nice starter unit with Side-imaging, down-imaging and GPS.

My comment wasn't directed towards you, just to the boat/financing in general. The pricing of boats has skyrocketed over the last 10 years. The financing options that BPS and Cabelas offer can look affordable but in reality they may not be the wisest financial decision. You're way ahead of the game with 20% down and doubling your monthly payment.

Hello guys new to the forum.

I just put a deposit down on the Heritage after looking at it in person at BassPro. I looked at the Grizzly 14 and by the time you were done with the boat, trailer and motor you still didn't have any seats at 7,000.

I'll take delivery in 4-6 weeks so looking forward to my first real bass boat. I'll be using the boat in south Florida in the everglades and maybe inner costal.  I'm thinking about getting a gps / fish finder to navigate thru the inner coastal waters.

fishing user avatarfirefightermike reply :

Well I hope this can answer some questions. I just bought one. Went to bass pro because I thought it was to good to be true. It's not. Went through the one on the show room floor from bow to stern. What an amazing deal at that price point. The boat motor and trailer are beefy and solid. The color actually works very well. Comes with 40hp four stroke. The only upgrade available is trailer brakes. I have no idea why you would need trailer brakes for a 17' aluminum boat but whatever. I am truly amazed at the quality and features it has. And with the 400 gift card i can get the options i want like on board charger, extra fuel tank, spare tire, fish finder for the trolling motor. I highly recommend to see one you will not be disappointed. Mine won't be in till end of February or March . If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me

My 10 year old son, Matthew, and I ordered our 40th Anniversary Bass Tracker Heritage yesterday (1/14) at the close of the 2018 Bass & Saltwater Expo in Raleigh NC from a Bass Pro Shop dealer.  I was not only their last customer of the day; I was their last customer of the 2018 Expo!  This will be my very first boat and our families first boat.   My son would rather fish than anything and after years researching the BPS Bass Tracker I was thrilled to see this beautiful anniversary edition boat at the Expo today.  He even said he'd be willing to sell his XBox 360 and all his games to help finance the boat. ????  Of course I told him that was a sweet offer, but definitely not necessary. But it definitely touched my heart. But then he confirmed it will definitely be a technology free summer. Which he rarely ever plays with technology anymore anyway. He'd rather be outside with me or fishing! ????

40th Anniversary Edition 2018 Bass Tracker Heritage

Congrats to you and the family. I think we need more parents like you in this world. Too many kiddos are being neglected to what is really out there in this world to experience. Video games, tablets, tv, phone etc have allowed for parents to occupy kids time and reduce burden of truly being parents. I still remember the first day my dad put a fishing pole in my hand. Similar situation as you. He was never a fishing type but he just wanted to spend the time with me and my brothers. My dad still doesn't get into fishing like I do, but he doesn't hesitate to go because he just wants to spend that time with me.

I think you picked a perfect first time starter boat for you and your boy. One thing I would strongly suggest is to take a boating course (both you and junior). I would even reach out to any friends, family or even send a request on this forum to anyone that might be able to join you out on the lake with your new boat and show you the ins and outs of boating. This boat is a very manageable boat and great learner boat.

Enjoy and congrats. You def got props for taking the initiative for being a good dad/parent in my book

This entire forum is a wealth of information and it has quickly become a morning must to buzz thru prior to getting motivated for work day. I'm guessing that's when they're going to start rolling them out. Typically a new boat order takes 6-10 weeks as it is, so that would put you close to the ETA they gave you.

Wow, I didn't even notice there was no spare tire.  When I looked at the boat, the salesman said they just put it on the floor two hours prior.  They had taken everything that wasn't bolted down, out of the boat.  I figured the tire was with that stuff.  Looking at the promo pictures there is no tire, and none listed in the features/options.  My $400 gift card is fading fast!

I have a quick question. I opted to finance my bass tracker heritage and of course they offered me the platinum protection plus, the seven year premium warranty, the gap insurance and a health insurance option. I had opted for the platinum protection plus and the seven year premium warranty. I wanted to get feedback from all of you since being a boat owner is brand new to me. The 4 extended/optional warranty programs are listed below.   Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

-        5 year Platinum Protection Plan. This is a protective coating that covers anything paint, gel, carpet/fabric, leather, and/or vinyl from rips, tears, burns, stains, fading and chalking, blood and bodily fluids. If any of these occur, someone will come out to wherever your boat is located, and either repair or replace the damaged/stained component. The total cost of this policy is $899

-          7 year Warranty on boat, motor and trailer on the electric and mechanical components. If something happens to the boat you can take it in to any licensed marine mechanic and pay a $100 deductible and it will cover all of the labor and parts to fix it. The total cost of this policy is $799

-          8 year GAP coverage, so if the boat is totaled it will pay the difference between what your insurance company gives you for the used value and what you still owe on the loan, plus it will pay your insurance deductible so you would not have any money out of pocket if the boat is totaled either on land or water and you won’t have to keep making a payment on a boat that has been totaled. The total cost of the policy is $320

-          5 year Accident Health Coverage, so if you are sick or injured and can’t work for more than 14 days it will make your boat payment until you can return to work.  The cost of the policy is $479

With any warranty, the truth lies in the fine print.

1.The 5 year platinum warranty? Tracker has a 5 year bow to stern warranty. You want to pay $899 for a mistake you might make?

2. Seven years on electrical? This isn't a car with a bunch of high tech accessories.

3. Gap coverage I have no opinion on. BUT if you did the 144 month @ $97 a month, it might be wise.

4. Accident health coverage? Getting disability insurance from your employer is a better option.

5. How much in interest will the additional $2k in insurance cost you? If you financed for 144 months. Another $500?

I never purchase the add ons.  Those end up being almost pure profit for the dealer,  In your example it totals $2,497.00.  That's 25% added to the cost of the boat with little chance of needing any of the coverage.

Good point.  Thanks for the insight!

fishing user avatarlivemusic reply :

It would be rare for a boat to give you much trouble in the time period of the extended warranty. I wouldn't buy it on a boat. They love to sell extended warranties because it is close to 100% profit.

Only thing I buy an extended warranty on is something that has a good chance of breaking and it doesn't cost much. Like, a game camera I bought, the extended was only, like, $4 on a $60 camera. And I had a game camera go bad on me after only 1 year. Also, a fishing rod, where it's no-questions-asked replacement for a few bucks. I've bought that, too. Probably statistically, we're better off not to buy any of it lol.

I like those options as well. Two bank onboard charger is one of my first choices with retractable transom straps as well.  When I financed they tried selling me a spare tire for like $250 - $280.  Figured I could find one locally for a much better price and save a few dollars.  I am putting my Maxxum 55# trolling motor on off of my Bass Tender and also mounting my Lowrance Elite 7 on the front deck.

They didn't offer me the Platinum Protection plan. It was weird, I told them at the show I was going to put $1500 - $2K down but the loan I was approved for was for no money down and 120 months and they had already added the cost of the GAP coverage, 7 year warranty and 5 year Accident/Health into the payments.

I called and tried to put $2K down and they said that I can't because it will bring total financed under 10K and they won't finance under $10K so I'll be putting $1500 down. I called my insurance company, State Farm, to get an insurance quote and they asked if they could try to get me better terms on a loan and surprisingly they couldn't beat White River's interest rate.

I'm only going with the gap coverage as it really doesn't add much to the payments and depreciation on boats is worse than cars.

As far as what? The included one doesn't look too hard to replace. I checked the wiring routing yesterday when I was at Cabelas and it shouldn't be hard to run new wires from the transom to the console. Bow mount for the trolling motor might be a bit trickier. I didn't check that out but I can stop tomorrow and check it out on my way home from work.
