how much does it weigh?

Answer: Not even a pound

If its only one pound how will it sink to bottom of water?

Answer: Buoyancy depends on density, not mass. If it is more dense than water it will sink regardless of the total mass.

Answer: It has a wire frame that makes up the majority of the weight. Also, the netting will get saturated. I used a can of cheap tuna to bait it. I have used this trap with success here in the rivers of Panama Central America. Just be sure to keep it closed when not using. I was drying mine out when my cat got inside of the half dollar sized hole and lost his mind. Had to cut it up to get him out!

Answer: Yes, that is exactly what I did and also put a rock or two in the cage as ballast to keep the cage in place. Line will also serve as your anchor. Trap worked extremely well for crawfish.

Answer: This is for river lobster (crawfish). The hole is about baseball size.

Can you really catch lobster in it is it big enough

Answer: I would doubt it would be large enough for lobsters....but the one I purchased is only about 2.5 feet long and about a foot around. The entry holes are about the size of an orange....and I would think a lobster could do some serious damage even if it were able to get inside.

Answer: My six-year-old doesn’t put any bait in there and he caught six catfish in 30 minutes in a creek that’s no more than 6 inches deep...

I didn't realize how easily raccoons can tear apart this net to steal your bait. One very unhappy little boy to find his trap was torn apart in less than one day. Ours was set in a creek with light water flow. Unsure if there's a use for this light weight material elsewhere, but wouldn't recommend for high durability.

I love this trap! I have caught many of blue crab I even caught a two pound catfish go figure how that one happened LOL the only problem that I have had is it's very difficult to get the crabs out simply because you do not want to get pinched and the space is kind of small and they grab onto the net but it is great for crabbing definitely I've caught a lot of bait fish with mine to mainly pinfish I leave it out overnight the next morning I have finger mullet spinfish catfish I get a variety of things!

Took this up to a mountain river while on a camping trip last month. It worked like a charm! Went to the bottom in the correct position (was worried it wouldn't sit correctly on the bottom of the river) and was easy to bait and retrieve crawdads. We used chunked up hot dogs and had a few crawdads within a couple hours. It folds up easily and was easy to store with our camping equipment.

I will replace the green string that holds the chamber openings open with Twisted tarred #36 twine and mini carabiners. Ez on ez off to empty the trap. Attach carabiner to one end of the green string and measure how long to make the new string. Remove carabiner on the end and attach second carabiner to the other end. Attach to the 2 inside rings in the trap and then cut the green strings.

I bought this trap to catch blue crab on a recent RV trip to the Texas coast. The trap is of great quality but lacks the ability to open it to remove the crabs, as well as a bait holder to keep bait in the center of the trap.

In use, this crab trap catches crabs as well as the bulkier chickenwire crab pot I've had for years but removing the crabs through the opening the crawled through can be a serious issue as the crabs are quick to grab onto the netting the trap is made out of.

I now keep this crab trap in the basement of my RV 100% of the time given it size but I've yet to again since my last trip to the Texas coast.

I recently bought two of the smaller pots for upcoming backpacking trips. My first trip was postponed due to snow, but I let them soak in a river overnight on a recent camping trip - the water didn’t look like good habitat for crawfish but I thought I might as well test them out. I only caught 1, but the pots held up well and they were easy to attach to my pack. The quality isn’t great, but the design is perfect for my needs. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a packable crawfish trap.

I got two of these and used them all summer. They look like they'll probably last all next summer too. An old sock with some super-cheap tuna or some trout heads & guts in it seems to work the best as bait. I was only leaving these out for about 12 hours (7pm to 7am) and my record catch in one trap was like 35 crayfish.
They don't seem to work too well as minnow traps - the netting is too big. I have had a few creek chubs and bullhead as by-catch, though. Netting is also too big to catch smaller crayfish such as the Northern Clearwater - in my area it ends up just being the Virile and invasive Rusty crayfish that get caught in the trap, which is a good thing.
