Well the wrapped boats have filled up the parking lots around the dam. This could be anybodies tournament but they all better look out for Steve Kennedy. It's no mystery how this one will be won.
Anybody got their picks?
Here's mine:
Steve Kennedy
big worm or jig
16-20 ft. deep
Mike McClelland, Football Jig, 15' humps
but look out for KVD, if those bass are out on the mainlake grass, he can get'em good with that crankbait, just like guntersville last year.
Like you said, this one is anyone's game. It shoot be a sweet tournament to watch unfold
I'll take Chris Jones to win....oh, wait a minute, he's not in this one. I guess I'll take McClelland then. He's hard to beat on a deep bite.
And what about Starks on Wheeler this past weeekend? That guy had "the spot". He claims for the first 3 days he only made about a total of 100 casts and just laid back and guarded his honey hole the rest of each day. Then on Sunday he went head to head with KVD and beat him by a 1/2 pound or so.....Starks could be a factor.
McClelland on a deep water jig bite, or KVD on the crank.
KVD!
It's gonna be whoever get's on the right spot. Hope they stay off mine, I gotta BFL this Saturday, LOL. Anyway, I'm interested in seeing if any of them can feed the big girls a crankbait or a big spinnerbait.
BTW, one of our own, Rob Kennedy(Shadcranker), will be in the back of the boat! Good Luck Rob!
CJ
KVD!!!!
CJ, your signature line is awesome.
I wish I was back home so I could check out the weigh-ins, guess I will have to wait for tv-coverage.
I also like Kennedy, he is one of my favorite anglers, but I won't count out KVD.
I admire KVD for his fishing ability. I don't think these fish are going to play to his fast power fishing ways though. That ain't saying he won't fish outside his strengths (if there is an outside to his strengths).
Watch out for the guys who might pick up a swimbait.
Fished Kentucky Lake today, put in at Fenton Ramp and ran into KVD, Chris Lane, Wirth, and Boyd Duckett along with a couple of others...some neat pics.
The best bites today at least for me were on the ledges with either a Carolina rig or jig.

Awesome!!! Can you post the pics? Well second thought you don't need to give away any locations.
CJ....is plum the color of choice this weekend?
I too am saying Kennedy. But I think Peter T. will do good also.
Plum is the color I have been throwing but I have recently switched over to red shad. The fish are getting a little deeper and I like a darker hue. But yes they will nail a big plum worm. The bigger, the better!
The problem or I don't know if it will be a "problem" but, the TVA has quit running as much water. The outflow is going to be dropping tomorrow down to 18,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) and that will make the bass either drop down a little beside the ledge or they will suspend out off the ledge. Actually they will do both but the ledge huggers are the more catchable fish. Plus it puts the fish in less of a feeding mood. Yet 2 weeks ago it took over 100 lbs. to win a 4 day event. It was won on a 4" pre-rigged swimbait. They weren't pulling much water.
I think the projected flow is suppose to be pretty low, down around 13,000.
I caught most of mine either on the top near the edge or on the drop, water was pretty clear so used a pumpkinseed or plum.
I am guessing but if I had been in a tournament my best five would have been 15 to 18 lbs so the bite is still pretty decent.
p.s. I need to get a cable to download my pics from my cell phone (wish to heck I had my camera but didn't think about it before hand) but will be more than happy to share them when I do. The rigs these guys have is what I think are pretty neat so I have plenty of them......call it wishful dreaming.....lol
I was out today for a few hours. They're pulling a little bit more water than predicted and I think this one is going to be a slugfest. Maybe not a Texas size slugfest but I'm gonna say somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 lbs. to win! I talked to a tackle/gas station owner today. Some of the guys coming in there are a little disappointed and some of them are being quite. KVD's lips have been sealed!
Big worm's gonna win it though! Atleast I would think.
CJ
KVD is a stud! I really didn't think the crankbait would go today. It did!
For 24 lbs. 13oz.!!!
Huh, who said KVD with a crankbait???
8-)
Yep Tin, and your other pic is in 2nd.

ME!!!! ;D
Looks like KVD is going to have another win on his resume' come weigh in time tomorrow. He's carrying a 6-13 lead into the final day.
I'm surprised that he was able to catch another huge bag today with all the other tournaments going on. Speaking of the other tournaments....where's CJ with the daily Kentucky update?
CJ outfished 12 of the top 50 Elite pros and tied with a 13th today.
One of the pros he beat was Denny Brauer. He can always remember this as the day he beat Denny Brauer.
Hey guys, I came home and crashed last night. It was a tough morning out on Ky. Some big storms blew over Friday night and left alot of cloud cover. Some bass came off the brush and roamed. Finally, I started getting bit around 10:30am. The bass did suspend some on the side of the ledges. I caught all of my fish by lifting a 12" worm up off the bottom about 3 ft. and letting it fall. The problem was, I was banking on a couple spots that were discovered by a couple Elites. My boat had a coil go out on it early Friday so I spent all day looking for someone who could fix it( THANK YOU SPORTSMAN'S EDGE!!!) I lost the day of practice so I just went fishing on Saturday. I did manage to catch a nice 6 lb. 3 oz. LM! The rest of my bag were just swimmers.
I like the way you look at things Preach! Looks like I would have got Purolator Big Bass too!
CJ
5Bass, it doesn't suprise me at all. When you take a guy like KVD and turn him loose on Ky. Lake, it's going to happen. Have you heard what the Elite guys are saying? KVD said Ky. is fishing better than ever. For the last 4 years the weights keep getting bigger! I was really expecting somebody to catch a 25-27 lb. bag this week. When I first said I thought it would take 70 lbs. to win, I thought it was a 3 day tournament.
WOW!!! Timmy Horton made it a close one with a big sack today! KVD prevailed though. He must be the greatest!!!
CJ
I loved watching the weigh-in today with the pros talking about catching their fish on $5 crankbaits while Rick Clunn's $15 baits didn't produce today.
That's an interesting point Olebiker. The fish here really like Bomber Fat Free Shads, Rapala DT16's, and DD22's. From the pics I saw KVD was throwing a DD22 and a Bomber, not a Strike King series 6. I could be wrong I guess but I had a look at his rods on his boat when he was putting them up after he weighed in on the first day. He had 5 different crankbaits on 5 different rods, on the deck. I still think his bigger fish came on a jig though.
You really can't go wrong with a DD22......on any lake.
Well KVD again .... not much of a surprise any more !
I hope he'll clinch his 4th AOY title in 2008.
Too bad he wouldn't thank CJ live on stage for letting touch the Mojo Bracelet ;D !
He almost lost to Horton ... I'm sure the bracelet had a lot to do with the win . :
Bravo KVD !
CJ or anyone else who was there, I am heading down to KY Lake Thursday and Friday to test out my new HB 1197 SI how bad a beating did the area between the bridges take last week.
Thanks Jeff

Ky. Lake has alot of water. It's hard to beat it up real bad. You'll be alright.
I attended all day saturday and have some pics to put up from in the morning and at weigh in. CJ- I heard Van Dam say that morning that his biggest fish came off a spoon. Whether or not that's true..only the camera man will know
I think KVD was throwing a Strike King Series 6 but was it a sexy shad color?
Series 5 in Sexy Shad and Sunrise Sexy Shad.
what is a sunrise sexy shad?
Sunrise SS is a new color they just brought out. I have the series 3,5,6 and RedEye shads ordered in it should be in this week.
