I was just wondering what is y'all fishing vehicles. I personnally use an old Jeep Liberty 2003. It has a ceiling rod rack and a load bar to help load my kayak on the roof rack. I put A/T tires as I often fish back country... It is also has a hitch so I can pull my yak trailer or the 12ft aluminium boat.
What about yours ?
2001 Chevy Silverado LS, Extended Cab. More than enough 'oomph' to tow my canoe as it's equipped with the towing package.
2018 GMC Pick Up ~ 8100 miles
A-Jay
2013 Genesis Coupe is my ride. I have to fold down the rear seats to get my rods in the car. It won’t go off road, tow a boat, or hold a kayak but it’s fast and it’s paid for. I’m traveling and don’t have a photo of my own car but the pic below is the same year and Parabolica Blue color.
2008 sebring hand me down from my wife. I put a hitch on it to pull my pond boat and I get about 28 mpg
2008 Toyota Tundra SR5. Truck has 134k miles on it, made my last payment on it last month ????
2008 Toyota 4Runner. Currently new-to-me but I've been able to get my old kayak racks on the roof and can throw my kayak up there. It came with a towing package which hopefully someday I'll be able to afford to use haha. But the seats fold flat so there's plenty of cargo room and I could sleep in the back if needed. I managed to rig some bungie chords and tie downs to hold all my rods inside against the roof.
2016 chevy colorado Z71 with the towing package. It pulls my little 2017 ranger easily.
It has 36,000 miles Both are paid for, which is a nice feeling.
Seems like most of you are going fishing with their daily drivers !
Here is my ???? machine:

I got 200k out of mine before I traded her in. Bought her new. Lots of little pesky problems, plus the bed was rusting up from the bottom. Current ride is a 2017 SuperDuty gasser. First year of the SuperDuty with an aluminum body. No more rust.
2003 Chevy Duramax, 600 hp diesel, 8 foot bed holds a lot of gear.. Wheels and other goodies have been updated. Old pic..
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer Sport (the 2 door model) and it pulls a 2002 LOWE 180 WT ok. I've got 120,000 miles on it, pretty much all fishing miles. I have a different car I drive to work in..
2004 Colorado that always contains at least 2 rods and a dozen Plano's. It is also my daily driver.
2010 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 TRD off road. The little truck that could...
2015 Ram .
1994 F150
2003 Nissan Frontier with a little over 100,000 miles pulls my 1996 17ft Lowe pretty well.

I have a Rio 5 for my daily commuting to work since the old Jeep has a real bad gas mileage...
Just traded in my 2012 Ram last month for a 2019 Ram 1500 sport. It’s a beautiful truck that rides like a dream and I don’t even feel my 18’6” boat on the back. As a stonemason by trade, it’ll haul a fair good load of rock too!

Well, when you can only afford to have one vehicle, you get one that's multi-purpose.
15 Ram 4x4 . Its why none of my rods are over 7'0" they wont fit diagonally in the bed .

Gas price south of the border also help making this happen I also wouldn't like to scratch/break anything more recent than my old Jeep Liberty. It has its fair share of trail to lake x scars !

My ceiling rack is made of a broom handle and bungees and it works beautifully as long as the rods are 7'3" or less
Recently acquired 2010 silverado with 74000 miles. Yes my daily driver as I'd rather have my second house in Maine than a second vehicle in mass.
'16 4Runner Trail Premium & a '14 1648 Grizzly.

Surprised that not everyone has the disposable income to afford more than one vehicle?
I can either have an arsenal of nice gear, too much but not enough tackle, and one vehicle, or very little gear and nothing nice, too little tackle, and two vehicles (a fishing specific vehicle). I wisely chose the former. Until my kids are grown and moved out, I'll be stuck with just a family vehicle and a kayak, no boat and no fishing truck or jeep. Which isn't all bad at all.

Ya, my '01 is the same way. When I got it in 2017 with 197k already on it, the previous owner had taken such good care of it that CarFax valued it at +$1000 over KBB. Of course I snatched it up - using the insurance money from my previous truck (the other driver was found at fault).

Gas is close to the equivalent of 4USD/gallon here. Having two vehicle is actually saving me money since I have at least 65 miles a day to drive and the small car is making close to 3 times the mileage.

The only way I was able to afford the canoe, trailer and new gear was through Christmas presents. Every year my parents give me, my wife, my sister and her husband $1000 checks with the notation "For fun only". We're not allowed to use the money for bills or living expenses. 2-1/2 years of that is what enabled me to do a complete upgrade...otherwise I'd be bank fishing with 30+ year old equipment and lures.

If you let the back seat up you can lay the rods across the center console with handles under the left rear seat and most likely get 8' rods in there. That works in my Chevrolet but is no good if you have a passenger that wants to ride up front. They can always ride in the right rear seat.????

Kayak trailer really makes it easier when carrying multiple kayaks ! The tube on the yak was there to bring to a friend so he could make himself a second rod tube ! Designed and built the trailer last year and have no regrets. Saved a bunch of ???? vs buying it and it is all welded instead of bolt together and around the same weight ! I tried J-cradles before and these are not working well with thicker recent fishing kayaks...
What I use to pull my Ranger RT188 (or haul my little Jon in the back) is the same thing I drive to work every day. I bought it after I bought my boat and as @Fishes in trees would say, I decided to go "matchy-matchy" LOL! I like to be organized and having my truck and boat match seems more squared away to me for some reason. I have a mental disease.

Almost the same here. Stays loaded from May to October. Ceiling rod rack is a blessing and was made with dollar store stuff though !
95 F250- the 8 foot bed is nice with 7' plus rods. It is a weekend only vehicle, I daily drive a boring sedan that gets 42 mph. I drive about 20K a year, so I'm better off getting good mileage.
When I fish with my father, we drive his 2011 F150 EcoBoost.

2008 Ford escape. It's the base model, so roof rails/bars didn't come stock. A rhinorack crossbar system and a sport track kayak carrier are used to transport my 10' lifetime Tamarack Angler kayak when I have the time to take it out!

A little Chevy S-10 that I am able to haul my Pelican Bass Raider around.
2018 4runner. I love it but it's really a pain to load the kayak on top.

Thanks,
They are Pelican Catch 120s. The one on the roof is a Catch 100.
For yours, look at the rear of the Jeep, the PVC/abs stuff is my load bar and it makes loading/unloading a breeze. I saw guys carrying their rods inside the yaks and some using rod tubes on racks when using a pickup truck.
Can show you pictures of my ugly but functional load bar ????

Thanks for the info. I have read good reviews of the Pelican Catch series.
If some pics of your load bar that would be great.
@Crankin4Bass will do tonight as I have to resize them to fit forum file size limit ! I love my Catch 120s, the 100 isn't mine, yet... Might buy it as my GF prefer to paddle it over the 120.
The Catch is light and stable but is bad in the wind and doesn't track perfect.
See no reason to change for another paddle kayak, my next one will be a peddle drive.

4x4 Dodge ram single cab manual transmission manual windows manual locks, terrible gas mileage. Like back when trucks were trucks! It pulls the boat or firewood or mulch or multiple paddle craft. For long range journeys we use my girlfriend's roller skate that gets like 35 mpg.

thats why I am planning on buying a very inexpensive electric car, for daily driving, and keeping my Toyota FJ as a project for fishing someday! theoretically, if I use the car long enough, it will pay itself off in gas money saved. 2015 Kia Sportage with ~38k miles on it. I have a trailer hitch bike rack for my mountain and road bike (another immensely expensive hobby) and fold the back seats down for my rods. I usually have 4 rods in my car at all times along with too many baits. Eventually I'd like to get a Tacoma though.

I'm running the Timberline towers, and Jetstream cross bars. I like the whole setup a lot, keeps my truck from getting banged up when loading, and makes it a lot easier to load in general. I don't notice any extra noise or mpg loss, the 4runner isn't really aerodynamic in general lol.

Although I prefer the 19 look over the 18 models, I wasn't exactly looking to upgrade from my 14 Z71. My 14 had a 7.5" lift and 22s with 35s on it. It was a tank! I must admit that the new one rides so much smoother than the old one though ????
Edit: The reason I got the 19 is due to my transfer case and tranny starting to slip ???? I did have a few issues with the 14, but I bought it well-used (100k miles when I got it). I had to fix the AC, compressor and condenser. That was a headache to do on my own, but I'm a DIY'er through and through.

Last month, I posted my tow vehicle, a 2003, red, Ford F-150. A couple of days ago, I retired the old truck and replaced it with a new, 2019 F150. A cap and bedrug are on order. Haven’t even hooked it up to a boat yet.
My everyday ride is my fishing vehicle. My kayak fits on top no problems.
Great gas mileage and I need it. I put a little over 100 miles a day on it 5 days a week,

Your gonna love it. I have a 2015 xlt and it's been the best vehicle I've ever owned. I traded a silverado, nightmare vehicle. I think I bought it twice. My f150, 64,000 miles and nothing but maintenance. I'll probably get 70,000+ miles out of first tires and brakes too. That may seem normal for some but It's amazing compared to what I'm used to. Amen.... All the other manufacturers have their strong points, but my ‘17 Tundra is the 4th Toy truck in our family over the last 20 years.
We’ve gone a combined 500,000+ miles and I’ve never repaired one.

I know it would be awkward because I'm significantly older than you, but would you adopt me please?
2014 Chevy Silverado High Country.
96 Ranger 2wd, 5spd. Gets my butt to and from work, fishing and wherever else. Hauls the yak well too!
I'm having trouble loving much of the newer stuff. The Jeep Grand Cherokee post-WJ has independent suspension. I wanted a live front axle, so that meant the newest GC I could get was a 2004. Additionally, I want a lever to control the transfer case and transmission.
It's bad enough that the WJ wasn't offered stateside with a manual tranny ????
My parents just bought a 2019 Blazer. That thing is pretty awesome from a mechanical point of view, and it's not as flimsy as some of the other modern vehicles I've seen. Too many push-button controls, though, and the engine is sideways. Still, it looks to be good for its intended target customer.
I digress.

This one's just over a year old and I think there's at least one or two redeeming qualities . . .

They don’t make anything like they used to, my truck is manual transmission locks and windows with a single cab, had to look around for it but Carmax is a wonderful thing. If it’s not a stick shift I won’t own it, and don’t EVEN get me started on a push button ignition. It must be so hard to turn a key.......

Took forever to get used to the "push button" ignition, but while not sure of other brands, Mopar gives the option to pop that button off and use an old fashioned key! ????

I used to pretty much mirror these thoughts. Now that Ive gotten used to modern technology I must admit I doubt I'll ever own another standard shift vehicle. Yes it's more to tear up but I figure it's a small price to pay for comfort. Each to their own. I do agree on the push button ignition tho not a fan of it at all

If you think that’s bad, how about new vehicles that turn off the engine when you stop at a light, then start up automatically when you take your foot off the brake. As a guy who used to own cars that had a hard time starting under any circumstance, this takes a little while to get used to.
On the other hand, the back up cameras that zoom on on your trailer hitch and help you hook up perfectly every time without having to get out and look is just the best thing ever.

I have to use the push button ignition at work and in my moms car. The common denominator is nobody EVER knows where the keys are, when they should be hanging in the ignition. Or the time I dropped mom off in front of a grocery store and she walked in with the “key fob” in her purse. The car began to panic and I had to sit in the parking lot with it running (and panicking). All because turning a key is so hard. Also, what happens when you are fishing in a downpour or wade fishing and the “key fob” is soaking wet?

I certainly agree. My wife's car has this and yes she's walked in to stores a cple times with keys in her purse while I'm left in the car with it freaking out. Definitely doesn't seem like a well thought out system at all. My truck has all the new stuff minus the push button start. I won't say I wouldn't buy a vehicle with it but I definitely don't want it.

That's all I use my backup camera for..well almost the only thing...I find it useful in parking lots as a "blind spot viewer" to make sure there aren't any kids or little old ladies back there before completely turning around, arm on the passenger seat, use the side mirrors...you know the old fashioned way of backing up!

In my case, first the key fob is hooked to the inside "water resistant" pocket of my PFD, and secondly, the Mopar key fob has the old fashioned key inside the fob. Just slide a small button over, pull up/out and voila! real key!

I have a 2015 f150. It doesn't have a push button ignition but in reality I think all new vehicles are push button ignition. Meaning... On older vehicles you had to hold the key to crank the engine until it started. If you didn't let go you'd hear the starter gear screeching. I'm sure we all remember this if you ever turned the key thinking the car wasn't running and it was. If you've got a newer vehicle (all of them I think?), turn the key to the start position and quickly let it go. The car continues to start just as if you were holding it. These days I think the key is just a start switch. It's just not push button.
That's how my 2010 GMC works. You flick the key, and it basically starts a "boot up" process.
