I obviously stole this idea from Fish Chris and his post last year. KU's "Results" thread made me look for a post on '08 predictions and didn't find one, so I thought I would start one. I added the "Beyond" part to see what your "lifetime" goal is.
'08 Goal (or Prediction)
Smallmouth: 6lb.+
Largemouth: 7lb. +
Muskie: 45in.+
Lifetime Goals (or Hopefully Predictions)
Smallmouth: 7lb.+
Largemouth: 10lb.+
Muskie: 50in+
I still want to break the Toledo Bend record of 15.32 lbs but if I can match or exceed 2007s 11 Double Digit bass I would be quite happy.
In '08 I want to catch a largemouth over 6 lbs, and to catch my first smallie.
Life Goals: 10 lb+ largemouth
6 lb+ smallie
I would like a 7-8lb largemouth (Florida here I come)
To actually catch a Smallmouth
Life:
A 15+ Largemouth
A 6+ Smallmouth
A 5+ Spot
Just one:
12-1 smallmouth bass
8-)
Goals:
PB Lm and SM:
6+ SM
8+ LM
Hope to get the LM out of the way on the G'ville trip in March.
SM- not sure when. I may make a couple of trips to Dale hollow this winter.
Largemouth-I want to catch two 6 pounders or bigger.
Smallmouth-5+
Lifetime-double digit for both species.
'08 Goals: 5 smallies for 15 pounds, And an 8 pound largemouth
Life: 5 Smallies for 20 pounds
5 Largies for 30 pounds
Smallie: 7 pounds
I am going to get a 14+ this year come hell or high water.
There will also be a smallmouth bass over 7lbs.
Another 5 fish sack over 40lbs would be fine too.
First of all I hope I can fish a lot more in '08 than I did in '07.
In '08 I need to break the 7 lbs mark. I haven't done that in 3 seasons now. I would also like to break my PB Smallmouth, which really shouldn't be too hard.
Lifetime:
- I would like to catch a 10lbs bass in my home-state
- Break my PB
I'm going to catch an 8 plus this year.
QuoteJust one:12-1 smallmouth bass
8-)
It that 12 one pounders or one 12 pounder?
I would like to beat my LMB PB by 1 pound. My current PB is 5lbs and I would love to see a 6lber.

I am shooting for a new PB at Guntersville this year. 7+ lbs will do nicely!
Ronnie
Since it's only Jan 7 and I already have a 6.5 lber I'm going to aim high this year.
Break my LMB PB of 10-8, 2 over 12 will do nicely.
Striper over 20 lbs
5 fish limit over 25 lbs
SM-Not really a big smallie guy.
LM-Break the 10 mark. I have a 9 lb 11 oz already. 5 more ounces!
I'd like a NorthEastern 8 or a Californian 15. 3 more weeks and I get to cast again!!
i would like a massachusetts 8 pound largemouth or a 6 pound smallie.
but a 10 pound largemouth would be SICK
I am hoping one over 8, one other over 7, and 5 over 6. I had 4 over 6 last year and my PB is 7-12. Although now I am living in the area I fish the most so my numbers should go up.
2008:
LM - 8+ (It WILL happen, i'm not happy about where my pb was caught!)
SM - 4+
Life:
LM - A TEENER
SM - 7+
My goal for next year is a largemouth bigger than 10.1lbs(my pb). I would also like to stick a 5lb smallie. For a lifetime goal I want to get a 13+ largemouth. Good luck to everyone on their new year goals.
Im hopin for my 2nd 6lber I caught 2 ove 5 last year but would like to get one bigger than 6lbs
LMB: 7.5+
SMB: 5+
Trout (rainbow or brown): 5+
I want to catch an LB bigger than the one my brother has mounted on his wall....7 lbs.+ It would KILL him!!!
bassnajr
Another 15+ LMB...It's been awhile.
That would give me the New OK State Record.
A SMB over 6lb would be great...P.B. is 6 lb.
Lifetime..Just 1 Hawg Bass of 20+ pounds.
1 Double D SMB.
H.B.A.
2- 5 pounder LM this year or get 6 pounder.(get a picture of this as well otherwise i'll just be considered a fibber)
For smallmouth i'm aiming for 3 pounds or better.
and try to get a combo of 5 bass limit on many more outing...i only did 3 limits last year.I want to increase that number.
I'm starting out slow.I've just gotten back into the fishing game as a serious angler 3 years ago. I'm still learning
well im gona say....
22.3 ounces
yep thats not a type o.
oh and a 5 pound crappie
since this is my first SERIOUS fishing season i think il go with a goal i might be able to reach.
LM: 5+
SM:3+
A LM between 7-10lbs.
A limit at 25lbs.
Crappie - Something over 14"
I'm also predicting a win over dink if he throws some of his Washco tourney's again. ;D
I would love to get a 10 but I'm not going to be greedy.
LM - 8.5 lbs.
SM - 5.5 lbs.
QuoteI am shooting for a new PB at Guntersville this year. 7+ lbs will do nicely!Ronnie
X1000
I am just glad to be able to fish. If I stay happy with that, the rest is just bonus.
this year my prediction is 3lbs 8oz. I'm shooting low this year hoping I can beat it. ;D
Still trying to beat that 8lber from last year though
QuoteI'm a tournament fisherman so I'll go with 5# ;DRW will appreciate this post
+1 8-)
QuoteI am shooting for a new PB at Guntersville this year. 7+ lbs will do nicely!Ronnie
Ronnie that is certainly a good possibility.
5 fish limit weighing 35+
LM 5 over 10
LM 1 over 13 (Never done it though)
Set a new pb.
that means something over 7lbs. 10 ounces.
Lifetime goal.
To be like MuddyMan.
LMB- 9lbs very hard in mich but its been done and i know atleast two places that i can catch a bass like that.
SMB-5lbs ive gotten 2 3lbers one in mich one in mass if i go back to mass for a visit ill knock that up to 6 bc wachusett resivour is amazing my ex pulled a 5.5lber out of there.
QuoteFirst of all I hope I can fish a lot more in '08 than I did in '07.
Phew, that describes my situation to a Tee!
Lois and I will be targeting a 12+ largemouth bass (28" plus).
If we get back to Canada my goal will be a 47" (30-lb) northern pike
Roger
10+lb Largemouth
7+ lb Smallmouth Edit: Two smallies back to back that are bigger than the two in RW profile pic
Life: Largest tournament weight in the bassmaster classic history.
Northeastern Goal - 7lb LM, 5lb SM
Lake Erie - 10lb Walleye
If I make it down to FL this year or anywhere else in the south for that matter I'd like to stick a 10lber.
Lifetime Goal - World Record LM. ;D
2008
LM 6+
SM anything over 1lb (considering that's all i could muster last year... :'( )
lifetime
LM double digits
SM 5lb+
I'm going to up my PB (11#er) and cpr a 13+ LM this year. It's going to happen, yes sir it will!
I'm also going to target SM more this year to establish a respectable PB.
Good luck to all!
Cheers!

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."
;D
Goal: 12lbs
Prediction: 9lbs 4oz
Goal--SAL (13#) between now and the end of March
Realism--anything better than my PB of 10# 4oz.
In 08:
To at least match my PB that I got last year
Lifetime:
To get a boat .
2008 Goal/Prediction:
Beat my PB Largemouth (5.2 lbs)
Beat my PB Smallmouth (4 lbs +)
Lifetime Goals:
LM: Double digits
SM: 7 lbs or higher
That's my final answer.for now ;D .
Here in Canada realistically next year a 4lber lm and a 3lb sm
lifetime: Lm 7lb
Sm 5lb
I fish both IA and IL
PB so far 7lb 5 oz LM
6lb 2 oz SM
'08 prediction and dream
9lb LM
any larger than 4 lb SM cuz I let my PB SM go cuz I didnt realize it was HUGE!!
Catch a bigger double digit on Clear Lake. (Or ANYWHERE for that matter!)
Catch a nice bass on the fly.
I predict a good fishing year for all.
I want to catch an 8lb LMB & 5lb SMB in Virginia this year.
In New York for 08:
LMB: 7lbs
SMB: 6lbs: ( on Erie)
In Florida when I visit my mother:
LMB:10lbs+
Liftime goals NY:
LMB: 9 lbs
SMB: next state record would be nice
I want a 6lb or better largemouth.
I'm also planning on buying my first real surf casting setup. I want to catch my first blue and striper.
for starters, when I read the post tiltle, "Predict your 08' hawg".... The first thing I thought was, "I can't think of any way to jinx myself faster, than to tell somebody > "I'm going to catch....... <
Now, what "would I like to catch" ? .....or, "what kind of catches would make me feel pretty good about the year" ?
Okay, I can hardly believe that 10 years after I got into this trophy bass thing, I still haven't got 3 double digits in a day ! I know guys that have got 5 or more ! (Troy Folkestad got 9 DD's in one day !)
So just 3, is all I ask.
A 50 lb, 5 fish limit would be pretty cool.... and quite possible on a day with three DD's.
I'd like to get 3, 15 plus bass this year... of course one 19 lb pb would be way better than 3 15's :-)
A new PB Smallmouth would also be great. A high 8 would do it, but a 9 lb plus would be Bombastic :-)
But what I really hope for the most, is just a lot of fun days on the water. So I guess in a nutshell, my goal for 08' is Maximum fun :-)
Peace,
Fish
My whole focus this year is catching a smallie over 5lbs. We don't really have smallmouth fishing in Georgia, so I'm going to have to make a few trips to accomplish that.
I would love to beat my pb Largemouth, but the only way I see that happening is if I get to go to Cali for my senior trip.
Well, my main goal for '08 is to get out and fish more. I'm really thinking about some back surgery in June (as soon as school let's out), so that will limit it some weeks after. Maybe I'll get my Hawg in the spring.
My ultimate goal has always been to catch a 10 pounder. I would be very happy with another 7+ which I haven't done since 2006. I've only broke 7 pounds about three or four times in my life, so it's still special to me.
Hmm 08 pb would have to be the fish in fish chris' avatar ;D ;D ;D. But seeing how i live in nh 5 lber would do the trick for a pb.
My goal for 08 is to catch as largemouth over 6 pounds which I know is possible because I know a spot that has many of these and last year I didn't get to fish it during the best times to fish and I still managed some nice 4 pounders.
For small mouth i'm hoping for 4+ pounds
08 prediction- 6.5+
lifetime- 10
i want to break my PB...it is currently 4.1 lbs...pretty sorry for texas standards...but even more than this, i just want to catch more better sized fish, become a better fishermen.....if i could catch a 2lber every other trip i would be happy...and i want to get a dang boat to improve these chances!!
Cliff
4 lb
i hope!!!
I am not perdicting as much as hoping. To get a new personal best and also by the end of the year to atleast be compatitive in my first year fishing in club tournaments.
Big LM would be nice......
But I'm looking for a 6 lb Smallie this year. Big goal for me but with the size of smallies that I have been rippin out of my local creek I'm confident that I can meet this goal. Better to put your goals higher IMO.
Get out and fish more.Top my PB largemouth-5 lber.A 6 would do.
Catch a fish on a carolina rig.
I fully expect to get a new personal best this year.
PB is 3.5 lbs.
Goal is 5 to 10 lbs
Life goal is 10+
Day dream is 18lb FL record
28.3 lb largemouth bass from California.
Realistically, largemouth 4-5 lbs, and smallmouth 2-3 lbs (I only fish smallies in rivers and usually only about 2-3 times a year).
The year of 2008
Largemouth 6+
Smallmouth 5+
Spot 5+
Lifetime
Largemouth 10+
Smallmouth 8+
Spot 8+
im pretty confident in a new record this year. actually ive made it my new year's resolution to catch an 8lber. last year my resolution was to catch a 6lber and i ended up with a 7lber during the spawn. so im hopin to get me an 8+ this spawn! ;D
the best big fish year i've had was 2005 where i caught 5 over 10 including my 14-2 pb. if i could do that again, i'd be tickled to death. as far as lifetime goes, that's difficult. realistically i've probably already caught the biggest bass i'll ever catch, but that ain't gonna stop me from tryin'. i'd love to get anything over 14-8. that'd break the state record.
11.4 sounds like a good number. My main goal is to get a 7 plus on #4 mono ultrlite though.
Well for 08, I want to catch a 7+ LM...It would be awesome if I cought it on my fav. lake, b/c it would be the record...it would be 2X better if i cought it in a tourney...Would also like to catch another 3+ SM and set the record for the same lake.
Life Time:
any double digit bass
