We are about 3 weeks away from the Spring Classic sales and the Spring Classic starts Feb. 25. So did anyone get there Spring Classic flyer yet? Or is Bass Pro just running late this year?
I got mine a few days ago! 2011 spring angler! I wish I wasn't broke!
QuoteI got mine a few days ago! 2011 spring angler! I wish I wasn't broke!
I did get that one also! I am talking about the Bass Pro Spring Classic that runs from Feb. 25 to March 13 and they have a classic sale that starts a week before the big classic events.
Their Facebook page says details will come 1-2 weeks ahead before the start date.
Flyers will be going out shortly for the Spring Fishing Classic. The Cabin Fever sale is going on until the classic starts and they know all the die hards are already planning to attend that. Should be some good sales as always and I am ready to be busy again. One night last week I had 5 customers all night...
QuoteFlyers will be going out shortly for the Spring Fishing Classic. ...
They never send me those flyers. Ive even e-mailed them asking them to do so (name-address) and nothing.
I get bps flyers about every week and a half. My mom hides 'em from me though! ;D
oohhhhh my god thank you i forgot about that!man i hope we have good pros this year lol

Mark Zona will be at the Gurnee (Chicago) store. I believe Pete Mania will be there also.

Zona is a cool cat. We met him at SML last year. Too cool for school. 8-)

Talked to him for a bit a couple weeks ago back in the break room when he was there for the boat show and he seemed cool.
Man, that flyer should have been here by now! The Spring Classic starts two weeks from this Sat.?
Hopefully someone can get it scanned in the next couple days... need to know if it's even worth making plans to make the trip.
Some great deals in there.

So are you saying that you got the flyer?
I just checked the bps website and it still says details coming soon.
Bill Dance will be at the Memphis store Sat. the 12th but that's part of a boat show, not the Spring Classic.

What kind of things are we talking about being on sale? I was planning on going over there in a few days to pick some stuff up, but maybe I'll wait until the Classic.

Pics or you don't have it. ;D
What were the sales like in the past? Everything on sale, or just select stuff and BPS gear? If there are sales on Abu Garcia and Shimano I'll definitely make the 4 hour trek to Harrisburg for it
You'll get reel trade in discounts on Abu but you're unlikely to find any Shimanos below retail price at the store.
Pics, someone, anyone.
I've been wondering where the flyer is at too. The sale is less than 2 weeks away. Hopefully they're just waiting until monday
Do they typically do rod trade-ins?
QuoteDo they typically do rod trade-ins?
No , don't believe they do.
I do alot of work for Bass Pro and I never did see a rod trade-in!
i have yet to see the sales ad/show flier and the classic is this coming saturday (6 days away)
they dont even have it advertising on there site. the only thing i see is the "presidents sale".
I think someone droped the ball!
This all I've seen:

That's all I've been able to find also. I've probably checked for the flyer at least once a day. BPS can send me 3 emails a day about ridiculous "sales" that I have no interest in, surprised they haven't been spamming this flyer yet. :

I think your math is a little off.
Starts on 2/25. As I post this, the date is 2/14.
You still have plenty of time.

I hit the Classic every year and was told a few years ago by a manager there that Shimano reels are not part of the Classic sale, and that Shimano opted out of the reel trade-in program. His exact words were "Shimano is too exclusive for our sale, and knowing that they can fetch full price for their gear, they don't participate in the reel trade-in. I guess Shimano doesn't care about helping out the less fortunate kids who can't afford to buy a reel." I was shocked to hear that statement at the time.
I was there yesterday afternoon (I live in walking distance from the Gurnee store) and was told that the flyer is going out in the next couple of days. Also, to answer your question, the Abu's always seem to go on sale during the Classic. Not everything in the store is on sale, only select items and manufacturers. They will generally pimp one or two casting reels and one or two spinning reels for the entire two weeks. Also, they run daily specials that aren't part of the two week long sale. Last year, the biggie reel item was the Daiwa Megaforce with Twitchin' bar for either $49 or $59. I don't recall the exact price. I ended up trading in an old Shimano and getting a Daiwa Bradia 2500, my favorite spinning reel by far. I've never seen a rod trade-in program at BPS.

Complete and utter BS.
This happens every year, and the same BS is repeated over and over. Shimano has addressed this issue in the past. The reason they don't take part in the reel trade-in has nothing to do with being "too exclusive" and everything to do with the charities they already support and the BRAND NEW reels they donate every year. They don't feel that it's necessary to get involved in a program that donates used (mostly junk) reels to "less fortunate" kids.
Send them an email and ask them yourself, if you really want to know the truth.
And, FWIW, my Spring Classic flyer showed up this afternoon.

Best deal to me is 5 for $10 Terminator Spinnerbaits
They are bringing back Prolite Finesse Reels for 50

Don't shoot the messenger. Just passing along what was told to me. Like I said, I was quite surprised to hear what was coming out of his mouth.

Nothing personal, but these things get repeated over and over on forums like this as if it's gospel.
In my experience, the managers at BPS are typically no more knowledgable than the teenage girls running the registers when discussing factory warranties and the reasons why the big companies do what they do. I had one tell me that the bad cork on a Shimano rod wasn't covered under warranty...even after Shimano told me to ship it back for replacement. :
If you want to know the truth, don't ask the manager @ BPS, contact Shimano.
To anyones that came today could yo put some pictures of it up ?? mine didn't come today >
Really??? : : Mass hysteria over a BPS flyer.
They must have ran out of paper, I have only got what? 10 catalogs since the start of 2011.

Yeah idk why I'm all hyped up about it. I guess being stuck in all winter is why, but i know once i see it they will have the same things as last year, but its still nice to look at them.
what I see is good is 5 for $10 Terminator Spinnerbaits and 3 bags for 10 bucks BPS "Senkos".
I love those stuff

I resent that fact. I am a cashier at BPS and feel like I know a great deal about the products in store and even more about fishing and hunting products.
Hey guys,
I'm looking to get a new baitcaster from BPS. Really looking forward to the spring classic sale. The reel trade in sale, have any of you done this before? Is it worth trading a used reel for a new one. I have a couple of reels that I could trade up. If BPS donates them to charity, that sound like a win, win!

You're only going to get a certain amount off the reel you're buying dependent on how much the reel is you are buying..
As far as the reel trade-in - unless you're looking at a BPS brand you may find a better price online. That said I don't mind spending a few extra bucks supporting my local BPS store. It's the baits that usually make the classic a good deal for me.

I feel your pain! You would think someone would post the flyer!
Per the Bass Pro Facebook fan page....earlier today they stated that information should be on the website "later this week." Ahhh this wait is killing me

You need to get 'em from your friends and then hide them under your mattress.
It says view the circular online but it is not showing yet.
Cracks me up:
5 or 6 catalogs a year, usually in triplicate
2-3 emails a week
Flyers for lesser sales weeks in advance, usually in triplicate
Biggest sale flyer of the year out at the last minute...
priceless :
I think you guys are getting all worked up over nothing. There really aren't any great deals in there this year.

I'm not worked up, I think it is funny. They inundate you with paper and web broadcasts until it is one that this audience happens to be waiting for.
Got my Flier today, not impressed. A couple things that are fair (for a deal) mostly disappointed though, only 2 pros giving ho-hum seminars. :'(
Got to at least see who will be doing the seminars out my way (deals not online yet). Bummer that I don't know any of the pros' names considering the number of shows and how much reading I do.

Same for me - I have a 190 mile round-trip and there's not enough savings on anything I want in the sale flyer to pay for my gas and time. However, if you live close to a BPS, it would be worth a trip, there ARE some things on sale at pretty good prices including 20%/25% savings on baits and other stuff that might be worth a look.
The BPS PQ and CL BC reels are at their usual sale prices. I "need" another CL but I think I will try to get price matching on a phone order.
Well the ad made me happy. A lot of items that are on sale, I just purchased last week. Now to call and get my refund!
