fishing user avatarStlbob reply :

I like this month better than last.

Rod cover..a sleeve relly which is nice.Would have prefered a reel cozy, but hey rods need protection too.

White Revolution Frog..this is something i would have never bought.something im going to try.

hooks love the hooks every month this month Mustaf Grip-Pin in a 2/0

Creme worms, the original.6" Scoundrel watermelon red is what i got.

A chrome 1/2 oz silent-rap...a rattle trap w/o bb's which is fine i have a few chrome already but cant beat the origianl lipless (well one of the first)

So all and all a good box.Ice is clearing will try the worms in the next few days..but good job Lucky Tackle Box and keep it up.

fishing user avatarspartyon8 reply :

I have been extremely happy with my first 4 LTBs. I can't say the same for the other 2.

fishing user avatarmoguy1973 reply :

3 lucky tackle boxes, 3 lipless crank baits and 2 are Rat-L-Traps.  Not much diversity in baits in these boxes.  Sorry, won't be back, wasn't impressed.

fishing user avatarfishinthedacks reply :

Funny mine didn't come in today but my buddy got his who is 15 mins away, I got my MTB and he didn't get his lol. So we both knew what was coming MTB was not impressive this month. AT ALL! He wasn't happy with his LTB other than the Frog but MTB total value was like 17.00 and I g ot another silver lure I'm so sick of these generic silver lures. I want some diversity! I got a silver from TG last month, 3 silvers from LTB last month and now a silver from MTB?! I'm about to cancel all my subscriptions because of SILVER! I know it's a decent color. Neutral, shiny fish see it they strike at it. They also stirke at 1000000 other colors. So I'm just praying I don't get anything silver from LTB this month or I'm cancelling them all lol. Anyone got a pic of the cover? He left his at home thought it was a rediculous waste of time but his rod/reels total like 30.00 total haha I on the other hand wouldn't mind something to cover mine but he didn't do a good job of explaining what it was. I'll get my box tomorrow but if I can see it now that'd be cool.

fishing user avatarfishinthedacks reply :

Also hope I got the watermelon worms. That's what he got too. I've got a few watermelon plastics but I love em. Those and the pumpkin variations. Walmart had some good deals on soft plastics today so I got some 4" and 6" watermelon worms, and motor oil, got some bugs etc and I'm going to bass pro shops tomorrow. That on top of LTB coming tomorrow will make for one AWESOME weekend of fishing gear. It's like Hannakuh (im not jewish but christmas is only one day. I get 2-3 days of spoiling myself with fishing gear)

fishing user avatarxxxblungblung reply :

I am canceling. Its just the same stuff month after month.

fishing user avatarBassguytom reply :

I like my box. I'm curious to see how the stelth trap works.

fishing user avatarStlbob reply :

tried it today in a city park lake caught 2 about 2.5/3 lb each was only out for about an hour and a half.wind really started picking up.Called it a day.but they are not the clearest so that silver im sure was helping....

fishing user avatarfishinthedacks reply :

I had the same issue with the rat l trap. 4 silver lures in last 2 boxes. However was anyone elses realllly beat up? I got mind today looks really rough and my buddies was much worse. just curious if this is common with these.

Mine looked fine.

fishing user avatarfishinthedacks reply :

Did you take it out of the box? I thought mine were box scratches and then I took it out.

Well, I just got it back out of my tackle box to give it a closer inspection. There are definitely some minor scuffs/scratches. That's kind of weird. But it's very very minor on mine.

fishing user avatarfishinthedacks reply :

Ours were a bit more extreme. He had chips. I didn't personally but had some bad scrapes and gashes. Lets not forget *** has reaction strike frogs for 5.29 and they said 9.99.... Was also at a store who had these frogs for 5.50 today so it's not just TW running a sale.  I was 50/50 on LTB last month but now after a wrong evaluation on a frog and a beat up lure I'm kind of thinking WTH.....???? I would certainly like some answers.

fishing user avatarMcKinneyLonghorn reply :

I was a big fan of this month's box. Everything in there is something I will use on a regular basis, and being from Texas, I love the inclusion of the Creme worms.

fishing user avatarZeeso reply :

I have received 3 boxes so far.

Whenever i buy something or receive something, I tend to do a lot of research to find out what the general opinion on that item is.

I have looked up a couple of the hardbaits online to see what other people think of them.  I find it strange that the livetarget I received in my first box, seems to be a clearance item when I looked them up.

The jerkbait I received isn't even one the tackle makers website (discontinued?)

The frog I received is listed at 5.29 on ***, but listed with a value of 9.99 on my card.  (Reaction Strike is heavily featured on overstockbait.com, which leads me to think it's more or less bottom of the barrel tackle, and from what I read about them I don't seem to be the minority)

The vicious fishing crank bait I received looks like the package has been sitting in a warehouse for years because nobody bought them.

The vicious fishing line from what I read is complete junk.

I have received 3 packs of random mustad hooks (hooks are hooks so you always need them, 3 packs of the same brand of random hooks is hardly something to write home about though)

Backstabber lures seem to be more or a less a gimmick bait, I will use it though as I would never buy it in the store, and am interested to find out if the concept works.

2 rattle traps. Always good to have rat-l-traps.  But who doesn't already have a large stockpile of lipless cranks?

The rod sock... is well.. a rod sock.  Can be had for 3-4$ if you really need one.  I won't be able to catch fish with my rod sock (which is why I signed up, to come across new lures to catch fish with).  While I know lots of people were excited to get it, it was a total let down for me.

I was really excited when I got my first box, but the more I really look at it, the more I am questioning my decision to sign up for ltb over mystery tackle box (the no sample packs was the deciding factor).  The concept of receiving monthly boxes is a good one and has really taken off in all kinds of markets. I guess it's good if you really don't have much tackle and are looking to pile up some stuff to see what works for you.  But this one in particular i just get this overwhelming feeling that the items I am receiving are more or less "junk".  Items that nobody purchases so they are sold in mass quantity at an extremely discounted price to be placed into these boxes.  Granted each box I have received has usually had 1 pretty solid item in it, but for the most part.. ehh I just don't know.

The tag line they have on the bottom of their website says

We only products from only the top manufacturers

Then lists ..  Rapala, Strike King,  Gary Yamamota, Yum, Bruiser baits, Rat-l-trap, and Damaki

I have received two rat-l-traps and a bag of jerkbaits from Bruiser, if you only carry top brands, and you advertise as so, where are they?  Throwing in a rat-l-trap into each box doesn't really count.

I know every company's goal is to make money, but there is just a bad vibe I am getting each time I receive a box.  Ill probably just continue my 6 months and then end it after that, maybe I am wrong, maybe I am in the minority, and that would be ok.  If you are enjoying your boxes then that is awesome and I wish the company well and hope you guys enjoy the rest of your boxes!  I just had to let that out.

fishing user avatarGoaltender reply :

I have also been disappointed as of late. My first 2 boxes (November & December) I thought were awesome. The last 3 though I thought were lacking any quality and I don't think the product in the box added up to what I paid for each month. I'm giving it a few more months, hopefully they get back on track.

fishing user avatarlmbfisherman reply :

I got my box two days ago.  I loved the box, even better than last months with the jerkbait.  The frog looks good and the stealth lipless crankbait looks like a useful bait.  The hooks definitely will be used and the rod glove was a nice touch.  I've never tried the Creme Worms, awesome..looks like they will work!  Black with blue tip.

Spot on evaluation. I was pumped last month to receive 3 hard lures but they were all silver and their evaluation didn't exaclty go spot on with the actual baits sold on other sites and even got one from TG that was about the same and TG gave the price about 6.00 less than LTB. Maybe LTB being new to the block is being taken for a  ride that other companies like TG or MTB have already figured out but we will see. I did like the rod sock because why not cover my 80.00 + tax - 150.00 rods with something. I never did it before but hell I have broken eyes off good rods before during transport so if this can even give me a 10% chance of not breaking them why the heck not put on and I will probably buy more while I've never had them before. I do look at some of the 3.00 ones at BPS they aren't QUITE the same quality but can I say this one is twice as good? I don't know. Listing the RS frog at 9.99 when it's clearly 5.29 anywhere else and have been to TWO local bait shops lately that it is 4.99? Not quite fair to give it that evaluation. It only takes 5 mins on google to figure out no one is selling it at 9.99

fishing user avatarfishinthedacks reply :

As far as the mustad hooks they have all been dif sides and types, where as MTB usually sends VMC. TG uses dif hook types every month but I think Mustad hooks in dif sizes are my favorite. Sure I like the other hooks too. But I've liked LTB hooks the best. Also how did your Rat-L-Trap stealth look? I looked at them at BPS and the one my buddy and I got in LTB looked TERRIBLE! Some peoples weren't bad but I have received other PM's saying they all had dings/dent/scratches etc. Seems odd for Rat-l-trap quality. Why were they all in iffy to bad condition?

fishing user avatarjhoffman reply :

What I dont understand is how you guys think a company can send you $25 worth of tackle, pay the shipping, pay the staff and give you guys a box full of swavers, pointers, senkos and on down the line we go.

Theyve gotta cut corners somewhere, I thought the model of this wasnt to stock your boxes with the best baits. That you should do yourself.

Seriously you guys dont really think they get such a good deal on these lures that they can give you the newest lure on the market and turn a profit every month? Most companies want you to spend $50 or more to get free shipping.

What if someone said... $50 a month for a box and you got $40 worth of good high quality tackle hand selected by an angler of baits that the true retail was $40. Would you still do it? Or would you want to keep your $50, order it yourself and get $50 worth of tackle instead?

fishing user avatardam0007 reply :

I believe the point of the subscrpition boxes is to try stuff you normally wouldn't buy at a more than reasonable price. Seems like some are looking way to into it. Relax a little..... To OP yeah the rod sock was a awesome surprise :)

fishing user avatarlmbfisherman reply :

Even if the frog is only 4.99, who cares?  You still got more value out of the box then you would've buying all of the items yourself.

7.99 + 4.99 + 5.99 + 5.99 + 1.99 = 26.95

My stealth trap wasn't in bad condition and didn't see any dings, I understand about the complaint if something isn't in perfect condition...but frankly with lipless cb I find my older ones produce better than a new out of box ones.  If you have a quality problem with yours, maybe contact LTB directly.

fishing user avatartatertester reply :

I been thinkin about these Lucky boxes, and it seems like they may well get a person to try different lures and improve your versatility. Like me, I rarely use crankbaits cause I fish in the weeds a lot, so avoid those treble hooks. But, using them will teach me some things....There I go thinkin again.

I personally have no problem with getting a 5.00 frog. But don't feed my an apple and swear to me it's an orange. I also have no problem getting a quality 26.95 box for 15.00. Last month I also spent around 400.00 on my own tackle/rods/reels etc. so I don't rely solely on these boxes by any stretch. I'm personally not expecting a 32.00 box every month but I will voice my oppinion. Like I've said before I keep getting this boxes I pay my 15.00 for it so it's mine and everyone elses right to judge them accordingly. The same way there's 10000 tackles/baits evaluated on here. I think MTB and LTB being connected to this sites makes people get a little more offended than say I complained about spending 10.99 on a Strike King frog after I used it. (Same way if I complained about Sieberts which NO ONE including my self does you guys would come to their aid much quicker than if I attacked say a jig from Gambler) I've had personal convos with both LTB and MTB on this site, through FB and on the phone. I like the people I have talked to the same way I like my best friends but if they go and get a mohawk I'm going to bust their marbles about it. Difference is I didn't pay for their mohawk.

I will continue with LTB and MTB, the boxes I love I will sing their praises on these threads the ones I don't I will again provide proper feedback. They can take mine and 1000 other peoples feedback and eventually send out boxes that satisfy the majority of their customers in different regions. That's why they reply with "thanks for the feedback" not "forget you try another company!". Also as I've said before getting boxes in the winter is tough, it'd be easier for them to catch the fishermen not the fish during the cold months. Sending us baits we wouldn't normally use until say mid July is also kind of a pain.

I don't know anything about how the business dealings with these monthly box subscriptions work.  I am also fully aware that companies need to make money in order to stay afloat.

I also know when I sign up for something, based on their advertising, I expect to get receive whatever is being advertised as their product.

Am I expecting a box full of senkos and live targets?  Nope.  Its more of a general feeling I am getting towards the quality of the product that is being sent to me.

For instance, MTB has stated that in order to provide customers with a more diverse selection of baits, they include sample packs instead of full packs.  This also helps smaller bait companies get their products out to the general public, when if they were sending full packs, they wouldn't be able too.

So, from what I have seen, typically MTB includes 1-2 very nice hardbaits, a few sample backs of plastics and a sample bag of hooks.  This is what they advertise, that is what I expect to get.

If MTB is purchasing the higher quality, more known name brand baits in huge quantities, placing them in their boxes, and including sample backs of smaller unknown bait companies, they are still making money even with the retail value of the box being much higher than the price you pay for the contents.

I am also not receiving discontinued items, items that looked like they have been sitting on shelves for years, or items nobody purchases, so that the company that makes said product is selling them off in huge quantities at extremely discounted prices just to get rid of them.

If LTB advertsies they only carry top name brands, with no sample packs.  Then I expect to receive 2 maybe 3 "top" name brand items.  Not lucky strike and megabass top, but the brands they advertise, (strike king, rapala, etc)  I'd take less items in a heartbeat if they were high quality, because that is what I signed up for.  In the end the total value would still be about the same with 1 average item and 5 bottom of the barrel items.

From reading through the general customer service complaints, to the product complaints, and from first hand experience, something about it doesn't sit right with me.

Do I really care that much?  Nope, its 15 bucks a month, its still fun to receive a box not knowing what the contents might hold.  I signed up for 6 months, ill get my 6th box and call it a day. It's a discussion forum, so why not discuss it?

fishing user avatarFish Murderer 71 reply :

I havent gotten mine yet :Idontknow: .  Last month was my first one, I wonder if this month will have another 5 bucks at tackle warehouse?

fishing user avatarrippin-lips reply :

It's $15 and no matter what you do receive at least that much worth of tackle each month. The seem to like to include live target stuff which that alone basically covers your money. I think this is a good thing for new people to bass fishing but for anyone who has fished for a few years already has whatever they're going to send you.

Jig,worms, flukes, hooks, trebles, lipless cranks, squarebills, jerkbait, frogs and so on and so on.

fishing user avatarjhoffman reply :

I dont have a dog in the fight, I simply see the business for what it is.

I have never subscribed to either I prefer to only carry what I want and at times when I look what I put in my boat I think to myself that I mustve lost a screw somewhere to carry that much gear. To be "frank" I have no interest in this style of system, if it was a system like I said where you put more money in and got baits that elite guys were trying out maybe then I would do it, ya know, prototype. Maybe I should start a box company called "Prototype" where Ill send you guys baits that no one has ever seen yet and you can be my test monkeys. When the baits suck Ill just say... dude our name is Prototype.

Even if a box has dust on it, that might be one wicked lure everyone forgot about. Ever walk into an old tackle shop and find an original wiggle wart that none of the locals will buy cause its covered in dust?

One other thing and maybe I am wrong here so if I am please do correct me. Best I can tell, MTB and LTB are one in the same company with different styles of boxes.

fishing user avatarfishinthedacks reply :

Haha id sign up for prototype. But you better send prototypes. I don't want a snag proof t-pro in a plastic bag stating its "bob vances" new prototype and that bob Vance is an up and coming tackle maker and pro fisherman even though he is a fictional character from the office and does refrigerators not tackle. :-) if you could get in with companies to test their prototypes I bet you could ask good money for their subscriptions fees. If I could be the only guy in a tourny fishing rapalas, or strike kings new baits before the masses sign me up.
