If you could bass fish any lake in the U.S., which would it be?I would either pick Falcon or Choke Canyon. Just wondering what you all would say.
Lake St. Clair
Lake Erie
Stick Marsh/ Farm 13
Falcon
And in that order!
8-)
I've Hit St. Clair and Erie, which were my northern haunts
now I want to hit
Falcon
Amistad
Assuming that pike & muskies are exempt:
> Dale Hollow Reservoir, TN (bronzebacks)
> Falcon Lake, TX (mossbacks)
> Secret Lake, FL (mossbacks)
> Lake Erie (bronzebacks) near Dwight Hottle's home
Roger
Forget "where," there are a lot of "where's," the better question is "where, and with whom."
;D
Pickwick or Dale Hollow w/ RW.
Anywhere w/ Fish Chris.
Toledo Bend w/ Catt.
My Lake O. spots with Muddy.
And not really fishing, but a pile of dirty, broke down reels, a clean bench, with Reel Mech, LOL.
Castaic
Amistad
Some of the tex/mex lakes
Clear Lake
Lake Erie for SM
Champlain.....Falcon.....Clear
Sam Rayburn
Toledo Bend
Falcon
Guntersville
Fork
Choke Canyon
Ray Roberts (Now that the slot has been removed, the pros will shock you with the weights next year. The next big thing).
Been lucky to have fished them all, just not as often as I would like.
Lake Fork for large mouth or Lake Erie for smallmouth
Give me any little known pond or small lake any day. I love to fish the small waters that get little attention.
Smith Mt. Lake
Lake Amistad
Also, any lake outside of NC
RoLo you would like Dale Hollow, and they have muskies as well.
Mine are Falcon, which I hope to do next spring, and Lake Guerrero, Mex. again, but I'm not sure if I can get across the border anymore. :-/
Dale Hollow
Falcon
Fork
My choices would be,Cayuga Lake,Ithaca,NY, and then Otisco lake, also in upstate Ny.
Where ever our next road trip is held
Would like to go fish Lake Erie in my lifetime.
I am planning on going to Pickwick sometime soon to fish, hopefully.
QuoteWhere ever our next road trip is held
That would be Pickwick.
Hope to see you there!

QuoteLake St. ClairLake Erie
I spent the first 58 years of my life there, the best action is on the Canadian side ( Lake St Clair).

Wynn Pond near Peachtree City, Georgia. As fertile looking as any place I've ever seen and nearly untouched.
We have a few closed reservoirs that have big bass populations that I would love to fish. Bard and Bouquet Canyon, near where I live are top on my list. The closed area near the dam at Casitas, where they film celebrity pros catching big bass, is another that place.

Dock Master
Smith Mtn is for you. Only about 1.2 million docks on SML. 25% of them nicer than my house!
QuoteRICHLAND CHAMBERS, TX
Catt, please elaborate on this one for me. :-?
Anywhere getting a line wet other than being stuck at work right now.
Wherever Paul. Fishes ;D
I would like to fish the area at Castaic that they close down during the spawn. Heard of guys fishing it during the spawn (Illegally :-/ ) and stuck some good fish)
Dale Hollow TX
Cuba
i would say EL salto
amistad
sam rayburn
falcon
but then again why would i want to leave florida

What's to elaborate? I've seen it & want to fish it
Catt, I'm interested in your omission of Kentucky Lake. Have you fished it before? If not, the summer time bite here would be right up your ally.
Dude I'm the kind of angler that will fish anywhere it's wet!
Have rodwill travel
I see a lot of people mentioned Lake Erie. I feel very fortunate to have close access to this fishery (it is an unbelievable place to fish). I would probably say El Salto would be first on my list (actually, Erie would be first, but I am assuming this if for places we have never been)
I've been to Casitas and Table Rock. So my list now is:
1. Guntersville
2. El Salto
3. Champlain
4. Falcon
5. The big "O"
QuoteWynn Pond near Peachtree City, Georgia. As fertile looking as any place I've ever seen and nearly untouched.
Interesting It might be a little more touched once I'm done with it. Whoops that came out wrong :-?
I know it's not your Texas sized fish, but pulling up to ledges, humps, and drops in the summer and catching schooling fish off of big texas rigged worms makes me think of you all the time
I have fished a lot of great eastern waters in my lifetime... but the place I most want to fish again is a local lake that I just recently had a bad outing on, Lake Oconee, here in Georgia. I have fished Guntersville, Okeechobee, Kissimmee, Dale Hollow, Table Rock, Bull Shoals, Eufala, ect., and they are all fantastic lakes. But the lake that tops my list is the one that just slapped me a goose egg during a club tourney. My next club tourney is on that same lake and I will not let that happen again.

1. Rayburn--Single most frustrating, rewarding, aggrevating, awesome body of water I've ever fished.
2. OH Ivie--Grew up fishing here. Full of lunkers. Top notch white bass fishery as well
3. Falcon--Never been. Hope to change that this fall

QuoteSugar Lake Mexico
Good pick, if you ever go to Falcon it's just a short trip across, there have been some really big fish coming out of that lake this year.

Just wanted to make sure you didn't have any super duper inside info... I used to drive past it every weekend to and from the deer lease and drooled every time, then met/fished with some guys that live out there and realized it's not what my mind had made it out to be. (I thought of fork each time i drove by) Good lake? yes... but not the hog pen I imagined.
I really don't care. Give me a legitament shot at a 10lber and I'll be fine. I doubt the lakes I fish, with the exception of one, have ever hosted a 10lber in my lifetime :-/ :-/

Sounds good to me!!!!1
Falcon
Clear Lake
I guess I actually COULD go just about anywhere. But I don't get enough time on my own local waters as it is. I'd love to knock off work today and hit one of my ponds.
Can anyone imagine being in the same boat, on the same body of water with Catt and Matt Fly, during the college football season?
Question: who would wind up in the water first?
Guntersville, any local pond in Fla
Fork and Falcon
And I'm guarding Ray Roberts with my life !! That used to be the best keep secret in Texas now everyone is blah blahing about it on the website well I better fish it hard till the pros come and ruin it all. :-[

Depends on whether or not YOU are operating the trolling motor!! :

Ry Roberts has been a jewel for a long time!! I used to fish it fairly regularly in the mid-late 90's. The pros won't ruin it... there will be a little more pressure, but by nature of the location I doubt it will ever be hammered unless a state record comes out of it.
Amistad
Falcon
Erie
any of the small and private farm ponds that bill dance fishes in his shows
IMO,
way more productive than any large lake could be (in a short period of time at least),
in terms of catching multiple "large fish" (5lbs +)

great list. id remove myself and add Raul. the idea of 9 days south of the border is so tempting.
I was fortunate to grow up 20-30min from Lake Fork. Sadly I have moved, but only 2hrs away now so I still get to fish it consistently. As for other lakes I would have to go with.
-Falcon
-Amistad
-Castaic
-El Salto
-Huites
Please don't take this wrong I would rather spend 2 days talking with Raul ( notebook and pencil on hand) than to fish with him.
QuotePlease don't take this wrong I would rather spend 2 days talking with Raul ( notebook and pencil on hand) than to fish with him.
oh i have a long list of questions, a few of which hes already done a great job of addressing in pm.
If you could, WHERE?
I can. So right in my honey hole which in a direct line from my house is only a drive, fairway metal, and a seven iron across the road.
There are dozens of places I'd love to try, but I don't have them listed according to priority.
But this one thing I am sure of. If I had no access to the pond I regularly fish, it would be at the top of my list.
Fish like these are routinely caught on a day's fishing. I am extremely grateful to have access to this natural, unmanaged pond.
I doubt ten percent of the town's residents know it exists.
It has produced this kind of fishing year after year for decades. The only change is that it was once a smallmouth pond.
