After reading a post in "Tournament talk", I noticed that many may not be aware about the BR following. Many see us as an ultra-informational, youth friendly, supportive site. All true.
But remember the name.
Ultimate
Resource
I know through my own experiences of 8-10 high level industry people who monitor this forum. Some even participate. There is lots of customer feedback available free to tackle companies, boat makers, circuit officials, etc.
Not only that but being the ultimate resource, many pro's and high level competitor's come to see what the word is in the neighborhoods. Many success stories began at a grass roots level and that's BR. The roots.
These are a few quotes from the other thread:
QuoteI have had long discussions with many of the top touring pros in the country (BASS and FLW) and they all come onto this site very frequently. Some of them have become members and offer great advice to us but wish to keep their identity under wraps. They are attracted to BassResource because of it's reputation as the intellectual, friendly bass fishing website. Just last month I was talking to a top Elite Series angler and he said that the he enjoys studying the articles that this site offers and he can't beleve how helpful the guys are on the forum.
QuoteUp until a couple of months ago I thought this was still the small, little known website that it was when I joined back in Feb of 05. But that all changed when I was at the Skeeter's Owners tournament here at Clarks Hill lake where I met up with Lane and her husband Toni from Sure Life Labs. They are also members and sponsors of this site. They are sponsors of FLW and Bass Champs. They helped to open my eyes to who actually visits our site. I think Lanes words were, "Gene you have no idea what heavy hitters in this sport have been attracted to BassResource." I was amazed by who knows who we are and enjoys what we are doing for the sport of bass fishing.I have never been the type of person to shy away from a great conversation with anyone. So I am not afraid to go up to someone like Zel Roland or Jason Lowen or Lee Sisson and talk to them about fishing and BassResource. So as I spent two days talking to many of the pros that were there. About 90% of them had visited this site and had nothing but great things to say about it. The other 10% now have my BassResource Card and hopefully have logged on to see what we have to offer. Am I biased? Yes I am. But once they visited this site they realized that it has things to offer everyone from every skill level.
Early this Spring I was out fishing and I ran into Aaron Martins while he was prefishing for the Elite Tournament. We couldn't talk about the fishing on the lake so we started talking about BassResource. He said that his wife had found it the week before and told him that he needed to check it out. So he did. The armature in the back of his boat was the President of the Fishers of Men Tournament Trail and he said he love this site and enjoyed everything about it.
I could go on and on
I second that, you never know who is trolling around on the forums.
Thats so awsome. I was wonding that myself a few days ago.
I wonder how this site will be in 30 years. World wide reputation for the best bass fishing site, I bet.
Hey, maybe Avid is really Bill Dance! They bolth wear large sunglasses. ;D
Naw, Avid knows more than Bill ever will.

Not to toot our own horn but go check the numbers,.....we've been #1 for awhile and we only distance ourselves from the pack more and more every day.
Im glad I joined!!
I've often wondered who might actually be participating on this site. When you google for bass fishing sites this is always one of the top choices so it obviously receives more hits than most. It makes sense that some big names in bass fishing would be checking it out.
Glenn has built the best bass site on the web. I'm sure many of the numerous "visitors" are industry heavyweights. To quote John Steinbeck as spoken by Ma Joad in The Grapes of Wrath;
"We are the people"
BassResource has the best reputation of any forum! Several of the top pros read the
articles and visit the forum. I was visiting with a top FLW pro a couple of months ago,
and he is a regular visiter to this site. Me made a comment that the BR forum is filled
with good information, and is a well run forum! Heck on of my best friends owns a
big forum here in Texas, and he has made several comments that BR is a great site.
That says something when other forum owners hand out compliments!
On a side note, the PAA (Professional Anglers Association) is kicking off their first big
Classic the second week in March on Lake Fork. The purse is ONE MILLION dollars,
and will feature 160 of the top professional anglers. We have been invited to participate,
and will have a 10" by 10" booth. I would be MORE THAN happy to do some BR promoting
at the Classic. Banners, or any other promotion items would be good. The annual BR
Fork trip is the following week, so I could return the banners, etc, at that time. They are
anticipating a LARGE turnout at the event. Something to consider!
Well, I am after all really Kevin Vandam. :
Seriously though, this site is absolutely awesome. If I search google for something about bass fishing, 90% of the time the first two or three things that come up are BassResource.com things.
Excellent offer Lane. I've been on the boss to have some banners made, Between Fluke and myself, there were a couple other events this year where we could have represented better. Growing pains, none of this stuff is free.
Any friends of the site that have a tie in the banner business??
That's awesome. If the best of the best are checking it out then you know it really is the Ulitimate Resource.
Thanks for sharing that info.
LBH, You are right, banners are not free! We are going to have to break down and have more
banners made ourselves. Tony is excellent in the purchasing department, so when we find
a good source, I will pass the info along to Glenn. Maybe one of the members on this site
has a banner business. I like to support fellow members.
And why shouldn't the Pro's lurk here......they have to learn somewhere! ;D
But seriously this site helped me SO much get back into fishing. I found this site while I was in Iraq and let all my fiends know about it when ever we start talking about fishing.
OT-Welcome home soldier. Thanks.
Thanks, I'll be here at BR for quite awhile.
It's nice to know that some big names in the industry like to check out the site from time to time. I just wish more of them would take an active role in the forum.
Outstanding! I'm glad this site is accomplishing what I hoped it would do: Have something for both beginners and advanced anglers alike, plus be a place where people can meet and exchange ideas and information with each other. It's become all that and more, thanks in large part to all of you.
I think Avid said it best: We are the people!
P.S. Lane - Thanks for the help. I look forward to hearing what you find out.
Can't wait until Fork!
Its great the big names visit here... VERY cool and I appreciate that fact... its a nice thought that they can say they would recognize LBH or heck even SFC AL... BUT... I have learned more from you "down to earth" folks... I am serious... over the past year I have learned MORE from y'all than I could have ever dreamed of learning by just going to the lake and trying to figure it out on my own... thanks! My wife won't thank you though... too much equipment bought over the past year... I went from collecting redline hotwheels to this... not sure which is cheaper.. but both are EXPENSIVE!!! hahahahah I can't wait to try out this newly gained knowledge in a place I KNOW there are big hawgs to be had!!!
and on another note... guess what site is linked from the Fort Stewart hunting and fishing site? yep THIS ONE... while it of course is not an official nod from the US Govt... it still says alot about how respected this site is
AL
In my book, even better than a nod from the gov't is a nod from the soldiers. I know of at least 4 soldiers who have corresponded from Iraq and/or joined upon return.
It's nice to be able to deliver a piece of home to the deployed troops.
BTW, I want to thank all of the active service men, and veterans of the armed forces on this site!
Yesterday was Veterans Day, and I am very grateful for your service!
yeah LBH that is going to be a tough one... not being able to hang out here, IF AND WHEN, I go back... I guess y'all will have to start a newsletter or something so we can keep up to date.
AL
All of these big names looking at the boards PLUS a resident hillbilly. What more could one ask for? LOL
Hillbilly

Unless they have made a schedule change that has not been posted, the original date is in April, the 9th-15th, and their current site still shows it to be the same, it appears you may have the only booth that weekend.
Matt.
I am glad you are keeping up with this site RottManK9. It feels better to have servicemen around.
On another note, everyone here will be able to say they remember the day Troutfisher took over Bassresource.com!

HAHA, you are a crazy little dude...you make me laugh. ;D
lol Thanks...I could be labeled as the "comic relief." ;D
Wonder what that makes me....
same thing it makes me. A student of BASS U for FREE baby!!!!!
What has amazes me is of the number of young people who actively participate and their knowledge. At 55 yrs old this gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling than our beloved sport will be left in very capable hands.
Merci Beau Coup Glenn!
(Thank You Large)
Tommy Thibodeaux
lol No need to worry about that. The Bassmaster subscriptions will continue to come, and my membership to BassResource.com will stay.
Catt, this young angler is honored to hear you say that. Ya'll laid the foundations, so how could we fail. I know that I am very greatful for all the older more experienced men on this site. I know that it has been a great help to me and every other young angler. Not many older anglers will fish with us or share tips and stories, here we are greeted as equals and it brings out the best in us. I can't say how much the boys on the sight have helped me. I wish I had found this site when I was about TroutFishers age!

Troutfisher. You funny
Peter, you are very welcome
Fishing aint just about catching, it's about sharing what God gave us in the beautiful outdoors.
Ahmen!
