The perfect storm of events in life have happened and alls that I want to do is go fishing and waiting these past couple weeks has been excruciating!!!
2 weeks ago the weather here started really warming up - I would leave work on the weekdays and say, "god I wish I was fishing".
Also the weekend before last I bought an HB 998 - its has been ready to try out and I have been unable to even put the boat in the water yet - was out of town this past weekend to see family - bahhh
And on top of that, I have been doing alot of studying and preparation to try out a new tactic and approach - big swimbait fishin.
All of this has led to the most stir crazy mind I have ever had - I cannot concentrate at work hardly, cannot wait to get out of work, cannot wait till tomorrow is over - cannot wait till early saturday morning for me to launch that boat and get to the getting!!!
Have you ever been this distracted or am I the only "10 year old child" in this forum?
I mean I always look forwad to my fishing weekend (every other weekend mostly) - but this is insane - its just unhealthy really - I am sure after I fish Sat. and Sun. I will get my "fix" and get back to my normal routine - this is crazy unproductive for me!
You are not alone. Especially if I have a tournament coming up or a day on the water with my spousling. After the winter months the "cabin fever" turns to "bass fever". lol
Big E,
The anticipation can be greater than the adventure.
My son's Australian Shepherd goes bonkers in the car when he gets about a mile from my house as he knows he can play in the big field and we always have treats for him.
I go bonkers when I turn down the road to my friend's farm with the best bass pond in the state.
I now know what Simmy is going through with his anticipation to come to my house. I do the same thing when I get close to that pond.
So yes, anticipation of a fun time is always a good thing and fishing is included.
Sometimes selecting the baits, tackle and planning the fishing trip is more fun that the fishing.
Yep,I understand fully. I am an addict.1 week without and I start going nuts.
Good luck.
Yeah i have to sit in school in on nice days during springtime. 8 hrs a day. Then i come home with 2 hours of homework. screw it! >
It's a bad urge I get all the time, but a couple hours on the water usually satisfies my craving for a couple days, But living in PA these winters drive me nuts.
You are most definitely not the only one. Im am such a spaz right now. I went out the other day just to throw from shore with 3/4 of the lake covered in ice. I couldnt resist it any longer. My biggest problem is buying all kinds of stuff that I know I dont need just to fend off the urge. We got a nice little teaser last week with temps in the 60's but its back to 40 deg and rain again. Soon enough. Atleast thats what I keep telling myself.
Got that feeling every day

Me too!
I'm with you guys. I was out this past weekend and accidentally kicked a box of crankbaits into the water. Twenty cranks lost! I was pretty ticked. Of course, when I got home, I found myself thinking and wanting to go back out to fish again. I did just that the very next day.
"The young and the restless." Anticipation is great.
I like the dog in the car anticipating analogy!! That pretty much sums it up.....I am always anticipating fishing, but this time around I feel like a crack addict - a couple days on the water is going to be therapeutic for sure ;D
Dude, the ice in the northeast - I am sorry for you guys for sure - there is no way that I will move to wherever water freezes in winter - no way in hell - once you taste the forbidden fruit of year round fishing, I dont think it would be healthy to take this privaleage away
Take care guys - heres to getting all our fixes soon
I once went to six flags during a less busy time of year...there were hardly any lines. We went strait to the big coasters and rode them....somehow not having the long lines took away the luster and perhaps the anticipation.
This got me to thinking about fishing and you guys that are retired. In retirement, does anticipation and the same joy of fishing still exist - or since there are "no lines" does it start to lack the luster - the contrast from the office to the open water??

Hey tex,Is that a pic of you in profile? If so you look like rick clunn.lol
I understand completely. I'm over 7000 miles away from home with no chance of bass fishing until Aug and thinking about it is still keeping me awake at night. I would do practically anything to be only days away! Nice to here the passion of others, enjoy the year!

Hey Tony, hope you're doing well out there. It'll be over before you know it. The only thing I regret about getting orders is not being able to fish with you again. Who knows though, I may have to pop down on leave. Take care brother.
in winter, I'm on the ice, catching fish while majority of anglers are home wishing they could be fishing. (boggles my mind) After ice out, I will wake up early to go before work, or when I get some free time. I'm probably out 3-4 times a week, and I definitely don't "have the time" to b out there that much. But like I said, i'll wake up early to get that fix in.
I find myself at work anticipating going home to just cast in my back yard....There is a section of my backyard that floods and I can twitch a frog or spook in it.
MAN I can't wait until April 24Th... First day of CR in MI
I just bought my first boat...14' jon with a 25 hp 2 weeks ago...between work weather, and getting the paperwork changed over....man, can't wait to get on the water.

Hi. My name is Wild Bill.
I have a fishing 'problem'.
Work and life keep getting in the way of me fishing enough.
Thanks fo AA [angler's anonymous], and countless fishing tackle retailers, I have been able to spend a near fortune due to my "sickness" when I cannot fish.
I now have four boats, countless rod combos, and 17 lifetimes of tackle...
please help me....
I am running out of room to store it.
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha !!!!

As a semi-retiree I can assure you that the anticipation and the joy of fishing never goes away. It's not so much the joy of catching, but the joy of being out with nature and on the water that has me scratching at the back door.
id be glad to take them off ur hands
Hey Jake, things are well thanks for asking! I won't forget you man! You are on to beautiful Alaska, just perfect for you being the outdoorsman you are! Good luck this weekend, swing for the fences!

Glad there are other "addicts" out there - in all seriousness, my recent fishing anxiousness is seriously a problem - I am so unproductive at work - I had the boat monkey for like a month then I bought my new sonar unit, then I had to wait 2 weeks - it is killing me - not sure if the boat monkey was worse than this or not - actually this is worse - that boat is just sittin there waiting calling my name - shut up stupid boat let me sleep and work like a normal person
i lived in GA for a year. GA's bass fishing is open year 'round -- wish i knew and wish i was big into fishing then. back in MI now and i'm going nuts! so this weekend, buddy and i are going out to check if the crappies are up for a little fight
Timothy, man thats a bummer - well, all the sweeter when you get out there and catch em - good luck!
ah yes, thanks. gonna hit 'em hard this season. 'smallie on opening weekend on lake st. clair
yea im addicted to i have put off paying bills this week and went 2 times after work once all day saturday and cant wait till next weekend cause its spawning time
usually when I can't wait to fish I either try to better my knowledge or I drool at fishing gear.
Going on 6 weeks now since I had shoulder surgery. I have the fishing show TV schedules down pat, and I have read and re-read all my fishing mags. I got out of my sling last Friday and as my strength comes back I guess I will start organizing the tackle bag and sharpening hooks. Saturday I sat in the recliner with my curado watching Bill Dance. I believe that I am slowly losing it.
I dont have my drivers license and my dad doesnt allow me to fish in my boat by myself so last weekend after a whole week of not fishing i woke up at 5 am on saturday morning and rode my bike with two baitcasters and huge duffelbag tacklebox, four miles to fish a local lake in memphis....and man did it pay off! 17 bass caught that morning, i love it when all that hard work and determination pays off, but yes my addiction drives me to do crazy things...like ride my bike ten miles to bass pro to jump on a huge 3 hour sale( my parents dont get home till 5). Man, being 15 and a fish addict has its ups and downs let me tell you.
I have been like that ever since I caught my first bass ! And that was at 15 and I am 58 now ! So I had many years of going CRAZY!
if i was told i couldnt ever fish again unless i had my left family jewel removed, i'd do it.
I work 12 to 14 hours a day and usually am getting saddle sore on the weekends riding horses with the wife but yes back in the winter I wanted to go so bad that i actually was outside in 4 feet of snow practicing pitching techniques on my frozen goldfish pond.
