What's your goals this year? Perhaps a new pb or improvement on a technique..
Most important for me is wanting to get out to different spots meaning diffrrent locations on current lakes and rivers and even new lakes and rivers.
I want to catch a SM, i know we got them up here i just have to find them.
Just to get out on the water , another would be to catch my first Small Mouth like Mike mentioned .
Definitely to break my PB, I've been stuck with it for a few years. I think i definitely will now that i have dove into swim baits, scouted out some promising spots, and joined this site!
Fish structure more effectively and get offshore.
Get out on the water more, and fish more for smallies.
My goal is to get Jeff on a 6lb smallie then show him what an eight looks like.
Same goals as 2013...........and really every year.
#1 Have fun.......if it's not fun, it's not worth being out there
#2 No expensive break downs, that would put a big hurting on #1
#3 Spend time on the water with my kids
#4 Don't hook myself, or fall in the water
The fishing will take care of it's self as long as I am in the right place at the right time.
1. Get me a double digit
2. Master the baitcast
3. Get some good gopro footage
4. MOST IMPORTANTLY HAVE FUN

Big fan of # 2&3 as well.
9# IL bass would not be bad either.
More casts into the water and let the rest take care of itself. This will be the first year of my life that I'll be able to really fish in the Spring so I'm pretty excited about that.
This will be my first year fishing high school bass fishing through the FLW TBF SAF..... a teacher and I just got it started yeaterday, so we will be fishing that in Wisconsin this year. So my goal would be to win that..... and same with the BFL event I will be competing in!!!!!
I don't do resolutions, and I usually don't set goals, but I suppose every year I aim for a new PB.
Overall, fishing to me is about enjoyment, getting outside, becoming proficient at the sport/hobby. I don't do tourney fishing, for me it's all about having fun and loving the sport.
1. Improve with jigs and crankbaits
2. fish hard and stay confident all day while fishing and especially during tournaments
3. win money in tournaments, came close in a lot of them this year but not close enough
4. Have fun (this one won't be hard)
I'm a fan of goals and for fishing in 2014 I'm planning to pursue my PB in areas I typically don't fish. I'm way too comfortable fishing specific spots in my home waters where I know I'll catch numbers of quality fish and I need to branch out a little more to catch a pig.
To get back to the states so i can start catching BASS again lol. 4 years overseas is to long. I loved this assignment but 2-3 years woulda been good. Idk how people stay overseas most their career lol.
improve on my topwater fishing and catch more fish than i did last year. i had a pretty good year in 2013 so if i catch more it will sure be a fun year.
Repower my boat with a Hydro Tec Yamaha. Recarpet and repair some of the wear and tear on it.
I plan to get off the bank a little, fish a little more after dark.
Mine would be a hope not a goal, I don't have any control of what's swimming by. While I'm still able to walk, lol, I'd like to hook any kind of fish that will strip out 200 yds of line (without opening my bail) chase it on foot down the beach stepping over rocks for a half mile and land it. That will be my greatest catch and my last fish, I'll retire.

I had to do just this but chase it down by jon boat. That was fishing Chandeleur for trout and hooked a jack like you are holding but close to 30 pounds. Took a couple hours of chasing to finally land. One of the most powerful fish pound for pound I've ever hooked.
1. Get out and fish more often
2. Sell enough of this extra tackle to buy a HDS-8 for the boat.

last year I went to key west for flats fishing. It was incredible watching schools of 25# jack coming up and having one of them destroy your lure! In a couple of hours I boated four of them ranging from 20-27lbs. Best fight of my life on light tackle! On 1/12/2014 at 6:24 AM, SirSnookalot said:. 1.get on the water more often.
2.learn to fish crankbaits better.
3.try to get the lady on a big fish! ( her PB is 2.5, she is getting tired of watching me pull in the big girls.)
1. Patience
2. Work on my boat and keep it clean
3. Off shore structure
4. Limit in every tournament, Win 2
5. Have fun and enjoy mother nature
Our local monthly club tournament 1st place finisher had 126lbs to win it for the year.
That's on average around 10 pounds per tournament, plus our two away tournaments. My goal is to try to catch that 10lbs a tournament.
As a power fisherman, id love to work on slowing down....and get better with finesse fishing tactics

Hurry home, I'm sure people who care about you really miss you. Hope you catch the biggest bass of your life, first trip out.
Hootie
Thanks hootie and i hope i do to lol.
My number one goal, to go out more and take my Kayak out more than last year.
Catch a 10 lb largemouth bass in good ole' Maine.

Sounds good to me!
I didn't see this 2014 Goals post when I started another thread. My mistake... I'm re-posting in this thread...
My wife has been on this 2014 goals kick for our business. SMART Goals for those of you in the Corporate world. It got me thinking about goals for our bass fishing team that is sponsored by said business. I figured it would be a good exercise to write down some goals for our team, and could make a good post for our team's blog.
You can read it here: Our 2014 Bass Fishing Tournament Goals… | Cartwright Realty Fishing Team
Do you have a reasonable expectation of meeting your own 2014 fishing goals?
I think that the goals I put down for our team are fairly reasonable, and should be achievable.
i dont know that i really set any fishing goals. i mean i always want to get better at this or that, or catch a new PB. i more or less just let things come to me. i dont really like putting expectations on my fishing other than i expect to catch something each time i go. no set goals, no pressure, more relaxation...
To master the JIKA rig.
This being my second year as avid angler im hoping to learn alot about the fiah and there habits. I wanna master the bait caster and get me a walleye. First and foremost I wanna have a good time and be safe!
As someone who fished three times last year my goal is to fish every week this year, have fun and take my sons and daughter fishing.
My new goal is to move somewhere that I can bass fish more consistently, and for long periods of time in the year. My house is going under contract today hopefully, my company is letting me work remotely from wherever I want. I live in northern Colorado right now, but most of my family is in Texas, so I think I'm going to live near my grandparents in Mineola, TX. I'll be really close to Lake Fork. I'm excited.

I had not heard of this rig so I looked it up on YouTube and found:
I really like the action. Does it work in clear water?

I'm gunning to win my high school championship this year as well, we got 3rd in the qualifier and 6th in the championship last year...
I also would like to break my PB LM (6lbs 5oz) and SM (3lbs 8oz) this year, I set new ones last year in both categories...
Get better and have fun of course!

True, but they aren't actually catching fish in this video, just showing how it looks and works. At least, that's what it seems like to me, but we're getting off topic on this thread. I just thought it was an interesting rig that I hadn't seen before.
Catch a 7lb MN largemouth.
Start fishing more soft plastics instead of just hard lures.
Learn how to efficiently fish from my new kayak.
Not too worried about my PB this year, I think that will just come with the plastics and the kayak.
I'm looking to catch 250 fish this year. Last year I got to 136 and learned a lot of things. Hopefully I'll remember most of it and learn some new things this year.

I couldn't imagine how tough it would be to keep track of fish. I'll fish whenever I can sometimes multiple times a day. Do you just keep a running log on your phone?

Tyler, I mainly fish a lot of ponds/forest preserves so every outing I have I don't get a huge number of fish so I just take pictures with my phone. My buddies and I have a saying "pics or it didn't happen". Plus I like to see all of the fish at years end. I've seen guys use a counter, but i'll worry about that once I get past 250.
I've got pretty simple goals this year. Stay employed and try to fish once a week. I know I'm going to take a week in early October to fish the Fishing for Freedom event at Truman Lake. I'd like to get a couple more multi-day trips this year. In a perfect world, I'd only have a dozen or so rigs spread out on the deck, but I'm pretty sure that isn't going to happen.

I always take pics of my bigger fish but I might go this route this year and take a picture for every fish.

I like the number idea. I think I'll shoot for 100 as I think I only caught about 50 all summer.
The thing that would make my 2014 season a success would be to share as much time on the water with my pop and my boys. Fishing to me is so much more than catching fish, it is memories shared and bonds formed. Of course it is always a plus to catch fish, but spending time with loved ones on a quiet morning or evening is what it is about to me. Hopefully as my boys age and mature they will come realize how truly blessed we are to be able to participate in the sport of fishing. Personal bests are great, and I do keep a journal of the fish we catch, but fishing to me is much deeper, kind of like a religion.
