Has anyone noticed that input from the members regarding the location of the next BR fishing trip is no longer required? All threads relating to this subject have been deleted. What Glenn and/or the Mods fail to realize is that it is just plain FUN to talk about it!
Was it ever required?
At least I got my name on the list before they removed it.
Don't sweat it guys. We have learned what we needed to. The list is not final. We were just trying to see how many of our great members were willing to share a boat seat and so on. Thanks alot for your willingness to help out.
God gave 2 ears & 1 mouth; he intended for us to listen twice as much as we talk
By listening twice as much our moderators learned more that any poll could have reviled
Yeah but he also gave us 10 fingers to type with and only 2 eyes to read with soooooooo....
Dude it only takes 1 finger to type

LOL, will be used again!
GO BIG RED
QuoteDude it only takes 1 finger to type
As it takes only one ear to hear also....
Don't forget he only gave us one mouth. But 2 discharge vents.
that means he fully expected twice as much garbage out than garbage in.

Wasn't the thread to see who would share a boat on Guntersville? What other lakes have been asked about sharing a boat?
Matt

I'm hoping that I can get the time off, have a boat, and have the $$ to be able to attend, regardless of where it's at. I get out of the Army next August and will be moving to Lake Caney and Lake Darbonne in Louisiana...two top notch fisheries in Louisiana. I'll be scouting those out hard and heavy for any future trips if interest ever peaks Unlike the jokes going around, I wouldn't mind someone pitching a tent in my backyard or crashing on my couch. Only rule is BYOB (and that doesn't stand for bring your own baits) ;D

I keep the other 9 in reserve so I don't get an overuse injury.
I'm an E-4 Infantryman (11B1O) in the Army. Primary job is rifleman, but I also work as a Bradley Gunner, M240B Machine Gunner, Breachman (aka door kicker), and occasionally a driver...though I REALLY hate driving. I'm behind on my promotions because of an injury last tour. My lungs are burnt up from a chemical fire in the bradley while I was driving. That's the main reason I hate driving. Nothing like being in the middle of an inferno. Because of that injury, I have a rough time running now...thus making it hard for me to get promoted. The Army loves their runners > Doesn't matter much though. I've got 3 great kids, a beautiful wife, and one heck of a tacklebox. What more could a man want? Oh yeah...I'm getting a dog too.
I would love to make a trip like that, but money and time will keep me close to home. I'll be glad to hear the posts when you get back.

You wouldn't mind sharing a seat with Reelady??
Just how big a seat will you require Mr Avid? We will see if I have one in your size.
Bet Avid would not mind sharing a seat with Angelina Jolie ;D

No offense intended dude. but in my experience women don't respond well to this line 8-)
My Man Stan - back from wherever.
You know I ain't particular, give me a 5 gallon bucket to set on and I'm good to go.
How you doin' ole buddy.
I got a little shoulder issue at the moment.
Well guys I hate to break the news to you, but the trip has already started
without us. It seems that a few of the backstabbers packed up and went to
California for the BR trip. I got this from the highest authority. Man you can't trust anybody these days. ;D
The good news is that these little side trips an ad hoc get together's is just one more thing that makes BassResource.com THE BEST BASS SITE bar none.

Have you been in a Bass Pro Shop lately? The place is full of young guys with their girlfriends. It looks like a pretty hot date place to me.
Most of the ladies, though, seem to have the same look on their face as I do when SWMBO drags me to Bed, Bath and Beyond.

REMEMBER.........there are a few rare females around that would much rather go to BPS than to BBY! Now, we have our priorities in line
My wife is one of them! She spends more at BPS and I do!
QuoteMy wife is one of them! She spends more at BPS and I do!
That describes my wife as well.
Whenever I place a tackle order, I always order the same amount for my wife.
Then a few days later, the UPS truck honks and I'm signing for something else that Lois ordered from BPS.
Hey, but how can you beat that, on the one hand I've got a genuinely enthused fishing partner,
and on the other hand, I can continue my extravagant spending habits without feelings of guilt
Roger

The smartest thing Johnny Morris ever did was add an entire floor of womans clothing to the World headquarters store in Springfield.
Sheer genius.
Thanx Mattm
I haven't been on the forum for a while, so I'm not in tune with the goings on.
From all appearances, the lake for the Annual BR Trip has not yet been decided. If that isn't true, please disregard this message.
On the other hand, if you're still in the market for a lake, I have a couple suggestions, for better or for worse.
Assuming that it's still in the decision phase, it might be a good idea to begin by voting on the region of the country.
For example, it would probably be most democratic for members to choose a lake at the hub of membership density.
That can quickly be divulged by an open poll that casts a vote as to "region", e.g. Northeast, Pacific Coast, etc.
For numbers of trophy-bass, the best season of the year is typically the late pre-spawn, which varies of course
depending on geographic latitude (but not that much). The late pre-spawn is a very brief period, but fortunately
all bass don't spawn at once, so the overlap in spawning stages usually buys us a pre-spawn period that lasts about a month.
On the downside, if you nail the pre-spawn period it generally means water temperature in the high 50s, maybe low 60s.
The prespawn is characterized by a little slower fishing, a little snottier wind and yes, a few cold fronts (argghh).
I believe that all those things should be common knowledge in advance of any outing. Anyway, listed below according to region
is a rough draft of America's top bass waters and the month that tends to center on the respective pre-spawn season:
NORTHEAST REGION
Lake Champlain, VT or NY MAY 587 miles of shoreline large & smallmouth bass
St Lawrence River (1,000 Islands) MAY Bass season opens late in month, mandatory C&R till then
SOUTHEAST REGION
Santee Cooper Lake Marion, SC APRIL Held former 4-day BASS stringer record (lasted only one year)
Guntersville Lake, AL APRIL Lying twixt Huntsville & Birmingham, G lake is highly-pressured
Lake Varner GA MARCH Electric motors only
FLORIDA
Lake Tohopekaliga, FL MARCH Activity better in April
Lake Istokpoga, FL MARCH Water level should be up (had lots of rain)
Stick Marsh, FL No accommodations on lake To & fro podunk
PACIFIC COAST
California Delta MARCH S of Sacramento, twixt Stockton & Antioch
Clear Lake, CA L MAR/E APR Holds current B.A.S.S. 4-day record

We were at a restaurant one evening and a lady at the next table was telling about how her husband had taken her quail hunting on their first date. SWMBO told her about the time I took her to beagle hound field trial. She married me anyway.

Yep Roger, you have definitely been off the forums for a while.
#1 - Wherever we go it's happening in March.
#2 - The "demcoratic debate was settled very early on.------ The debate is that there is no debate.
#3 - the mods will let us know when they finish "hashing"
#4- - I don't think it will be much longer.
All I know, no matter where the trip any fella getting to fish and talk with LONG MIKE is in for a good trip
Muddy, are you trying to ruin my reputation? I'm supposed to be a grizzled old fart. You keep talking like that and you will have people thinking I'm a nice guy.
Bah! Humbug!
QuoteMuddy, are you trying to ruin my reputation? I'm supposed to be a grizzled old fart. You keep talking like that and you will have people thinking I'm a nice guy.Bah! Humbug!
I reckin i could put up with you. Provided we do everything my way.
got it?
I still vote for Toledo Bend; at 65 miles long it allows pre-spawn to spawn fishing from late January through mid- April; although big bass fishing is good year round. The lake is large enough to handle both the weekend warriors and all of our members with room left over. In the event of bad weather there are numerous large creeks with launches that would allow good fishing for smaller boats. As to the question of boat rentals from what I gathered from the Guntersville post there will be more than enough members with seats open to handle members with out boats.
On the down side depending on how early reservations are made lodging could be an issue if everyone plans on staying at one location. But many marinas have large pavilions for meetings and cooking
