I want to buy some Zoom trick worms, and want to get a couple proven colors. Please just give one or two of your favorite colors. Also, is it best to use natural(darker) colors for clear water and clear days? And brighter colors for stained water and cloudy days? Thanks.
I have four favorites
Redbug
Grasshopper
Watermelon Gold
Greenpumpkin
Black is the one I've used most and done good with. Any darker color would get the job done though.
Thanks guys. What about my other 2 questions?
black, motor oil, watermelon seed, red and some others occasionally, depending on water condition.
edit: for your other q's, I would say the lighter the water, the lighter the bait. black: stained water and cloudy weather
I get by with 2 colors:
Black in muddy water
Watermelon red flake in clear
watermelon green i think (i tossed the original bag) got me my personal best.
Watermelon Neon
Merthiolate
Bubble Gum
Big Texan
Cinnamon Pepper Neon/June Bug Laminated (Camouflage)
Black has produced the most and biggest fish for me, even in the clear waters of Washington lakes and on sunny days. They haven't gone for any other colors up here for some reason. I also like the *** Floaters. They're very similar in size and shape, but will float tail up when rigged weightless on the Mustad 2/0 wide gap hooks I use. Very tantalizing. But the color selection is limited.
Junebug hands down
Watermelon Red Flake.
I like any dark colors and watermelon green has worked good for me
Black Amber
Banana Seed
1. Pink.
2. White
Junebug
Bubble gum
Watermelon red flake
I have had the best luck using "bruised Banana" and Watermelon green.
What I have heard and found to be true is the darker the water the darker the worm, the lighter the water, the lighter the worm.
I only use trick worms one way. I fish them weightless and swim them in the back of coves. For this application I only use one color. Merthiolate. Makes no never mind to me what the water clarity is. The bass will see this bait from 50 feet away and do the "torpedo" thing to smash it. Totally cool.
Thanks guys. So far black has the most votes at 4, and Watermelon red flake is second with 3.
bruised banana
Watermelon candy or mardi gras
For clear water I use Watermelon/Red, and for stained water I use Candy Bug.
Falcon
Green pumpkin red flake, Castiac choice for stained water, pumpkin red flake, watermelon blue (or red or green or gold) flake, or plum for clearer water. I try to match the stain, or the background I'm fishing. Another theory is to match the bottom, because that's what the natural forage will do.
Watermelon Seed. I've used it in clear and staind water with success. After that I would guess black is my next best. But definitely watermelon seed gets my vote.
bubble gum
bubble gum
bubble gum
other bright colors
bubble gum
8-)
My favorite color is whatever the tackle store has in stock when I need some. The fish don't have a favorite color, they will take any color in any water conditions. Its all about the presentation, not the color.
Watermelon seed
Tomato
Junebug
Green Pumpkin
In that order
Stained Water: Brusied Banana
Clear Water: Watermelon Seed
Black
June Bug
Watermelon w/red flake
Pumpkin
June Bug.
Methiolate when using as a jerk bait or during spawn.
I have watermelon/red flake, Junebug, and bubble gum in my tackle bag......my experience is that color really doesn't matter. If they are hitting the Trick Worm, they will hit any of the 3 colors. My fishing partner and I have a couple spots that we can almost always get bit with the Trick Worm on a split shot rig. Multiple times we have been using very different colors at the same time and both of us pulling in fish.

I've done well with Junebug and watermelon green. All the water I fish is pretty clear.

I fish a pretty murky river and my favorite zoom trick worm is the Watermelon/Kiwi color. I kill 'em on that!!
green pumpkin
watermelon red flake
junebug
methiolate
Bubblegum or Green Pumpkin
Watermelon Red Flake was the color I happened to pick up, it has worked in both water conditions.
