Best Tackle Bag? 2024

fishing user avatarVinnieT reply :

Hi everyone, wanted to know if anyone could tell me in their opinion what they think is the best tackle bag. I like to be very organized so the bigger the better. Price does not matter to me.

fishing user avatarGoose52 reply :

There are many styles of bags - some with tote handles/shoulder straps, some you wear like a backpack, etc. You have to decide what style you're looking for.

For a regular tote/shoulder type bag, I've always been impressed by the green bags at Cabelas. I don't normally use a tackle bag, but if I did, these are what I would use:

Advanced Angler Pro-Series Tackle Bag - no boxes

Advanced Angler Pro-Series Tackle Bag - with boxes

These bags are on sale right now!

fishing user avatarBirdNestBen reply :

I bought 2 on black friday... they have the Spiderwire tackle bag at Academy.. with the trapdoor on the sides... love it... but if you want a bigger one they have the one at Cabelas that holds the bigger tackle trays.. 5 of them... think it's called theCabelas x50... I bought one and it's real cool looking...might check their website to see if they still have them... I paid 29.99 without the boxes and I think the are 59.99 with the boxes...

fishing user avatarMarty reply :

I use one of the aforementioned Cabela's. However, I sound like a broken record on the subject of tackle bags. There are a number of brands that are well made. First, determine what best fits your needs with regard to size, capacity, number of pockets and pocket configuration. Then buy it if it's a name brand or you otherwise believe it to be a well-made product.

fishing user avatarSudburyBasser reply :

I wish I had seen those Cabela bags before I bought one at Bass Pro Shop a few days ago. A large Advanced Anglers Pro Series would have been perfect...

fishing user avatarbass1980 reply :

I like the Shimano Blackmoon. Buddy has it and seems to hold everything he needs when we are fishing the rivers on a long day. Get the Medium size one if size and price does not matter to you. I like how the plano can slide out like that.

I use the advanced Angler bags. They are high quality and tough as nails. Had mine 4+ years now, and no issues at all.

fishing user avatarJake P reply :

I use a bag bought from Academy. Holds 4 3700's and 1 deep plano box that I put my plastics in. Also has tons of pockets for tools and line and accessories. Cost me 30$. Best tackle storage system I have used yet.

fishing user avatarBigbarge50 reply :

I picked up on sale at a dicks earlier this year the veritas bag..... and while it is not the best bag out there, I really like it. I keep my plastics in a binder separate and carry a side bag with bug spray, flashlights, scents, ..ect. The veritas bag is great for me, the boxes it came with are big, deep, and versatile. The side pockets hold scales, lure retriever, line conditioner, and bullet weights. The front holds my terminal tackle box, and there is enough room in the main pocket that I can lay my jig box on top of that. Again not sure it would work for most as an "everything" bag, but it has been awesome for me in the role I use it for

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

I use a Cabela's Advanced Angler's Super Magnum. My boat has very little storage room so I have to carry my baits in a tackle bag. It's basically just large enough to carry all my hard baits I carry but I have my plastics in binders. I think it fits 12 3700 boxes so it's probably plenty big for most guys.

fishing user avatarVinnieT reply :

So from what I'm hearing, the Cabelas Advanced Angler series are good?

fishing user avatarMaico1 reply :

Another Cabela's fan.......

i have a berkley powerbait bag i bought at dicks holds 5 plano boxes and 2 lil ones plenty of side pockets and storage i love it

A bag that limits your tackle to only what you will consistently use. Less tackle = more fishing.

As a co angler I've gone through 3 different styles of bag's.. the BPS, a Cabella's model and a Flambeau

The one I use now which is the right size and has the right amount of pockets, all in the right place is the Flambeau AZ 8.

They make a 6 and 4 also.

The 8 can get heavy but I tend to carry everything I may possoibly need on the water.

Shimano has a nice big duffle style tackle bag for like $60-70. I know im gonna get flack for the Shimano, lol, but its awesome. Its on my Santa list, I hope it shows up under th tree.

I use this and an AZ4 for my "non boater" trips.

No, just able to check it out. It is amazingly spacious!

I use the large red/black tacklelogic bag. I have had it for well over 10 years and it has held up perfect. This bag gets used for soft plastic storage. The nice thing about it is I can swap out various plastic binders and bags for the occasion. I can put my rigging supplies in the side pockets. If you are looking for a large and durable bag to transport plastics this is a great option.

fishing user avatarAlpster reply :

I use the 3700 boxes and carry them in these. BPS and Cabellas have them. About 15 bucks and they carry 6 3700 boxes. I like em because I can just throw tyhem all in my boat and when I am a co-angler I can put just what I need for the day in one of them. I have 4 3700 size and 2 3600 size. I love em.

The large cabelas bag works great.Just remember-the bigger the bag-the heavier it is.Another option in a boat,is to find a cooler.I found one that works great for the plano boxes,my binders, tools, etc. works perfect, keeping it dry and when its really hot. Gonna customize one with a place for scale, ruler, etc.,along with 3n1 stick on rust shields inside.Iwill post picks when i get it done. :eyebrows:

fishing user avatardumfish reply :

Flambeau AZ8 is a large bag, if you need to bring the kitchen sink to the lake. Check it out at Flambeau Outdoors.

fishing user avatarBASSclary reply :

For me I use the *** backpack because i'm shore only, if you're organized like I am, you can fit more than you'll ever need into it, plus it has some small features that are really cool. Its pretty cheap too, considering what shemano wants for their similar product.

fishing user avatarSudburyBasser reply :

I withdraw my earlier sort-of wishing I hadn't ordered the BPS Extreme Qualifier 370 bag. Came today (and thank you delivery guy for leaving it wedging my storm door open during the worst winter storm of the year) and it is truly the bee's knees. Might be small for some of you extreme guys (it only holds five or six 370s), but it's enough room for me. At least for now.

fishing user avatarBronzeback Scuttler reply :

I use a BPS rigging bag. It holds 8 3600 size boxes and has a zippered drop down rigging tray. Very handy for texas rigs, drop shot rigs etc. It also has a binder for worm bags and lots of storage pockets and is very well constructed.

I was thinking the exact same thing as you, SudburyBasser.

Cabela has a lot more choices of styles, and better ones than BPS.. :rolleyes2: (Plus I am not happy with BPS.)

fishing user avatarTNBassin' reply :

I bought a Tournament Choice bag from Academy for $30. Came with five big boxes, and plenty of storage for plastics or other goodies in side and end pouches. Also has a spot where you can put a spool of line and fill your reel up without the hassle. Works well and seems to be well built. I don't have a ton of stuff, so it's perfect for me.

fishing user avatarThe one that got away reply :

I use the older BPS rigging bag. Mine is gray, I think they are bright blue now, so I'm glad I have the older model. I have it completely packed and it weighs a ton, but only because it holds so much.

Thanks for the recommendation. I just received my new bag (magnum). Same length as my old bag yet it holds triple the gear. thanks again.

fishing user avatarxxjace reply :

I bought the new kvd bag and its very nice and it's huge..now I have only had it a few weeks and I mostly fish ponds..it's very heavy packing it around so it's kinda all preference I guess ..I thought about making up a tiny bag for just what I'm gonna fish on that day for the rest of winter..but a great bag best I've ever had

fishing user avatarxxjace reply :

I'm actually debating on setting up a tiny bag with a decent variety for my winter fishing..there's all sorts of tackle I don't even use in the winter and maybe packing less rods..I could honestly use a small bag and two rods..instead of packing a suitcase and 4-5 rods to the ponds

Lots of folks seem to like them. I certainly like the looks of the bag they're closing out better than the new one with the yellow accents and such.

I'm still temped to order an old one while they still have them..........and I don't even use a tackle bag....
