Best Shallow Diving Crankbait 2024

fishing user avatarVinny Chase reply :

I am about to purchase a bandit footloose in the bluegill color. I love the other bandit series crainks, but i was just wondering if there was another one out there that is known for being a better bait.

I need either a bass and bluegill pattern

Thanks,

VC

fishing user avatarGrey Wolf reply :

Strike King and Mann's have shallow diving baits that are as good if not better.

Is this the Mann's you are talking about?

fishing user avatarzerofivenismo reply :

I love my Bandit Footloose and Storm Subwart cranks.  Have multiple bluegill and baby bass patterns in both brands.  Of course, they're not as detailed as custom jobs or LC's, but they're still excellent for the $4 dollar range.

fishing user avatarRiver Rat316 reply :

Footloose, Manns, and Bomber Square a when you need to go a little deeper are all good cranks

fishing user avatarSherlock 60 reply :

Best??? Who knows?  But my personal favorite is the Bomber Square A in Oxbow Bream (bluegill).

Have someone custom paint you a Bagley Balsa B    :-X

Lights out in spring coves with stumps.

fishing user avatarMSPbass reply :

I like the Mann's Baby 1-Minus better than the Waker, it's smaller, but both are great baits.

fishing user avatarSiebert Outdoors reply :

I use to throw manns all the time till I got a balsa one from Big M.  That thing smokes them!!

fishing user avatar.dsaavedra. reply :

rapala DT03 and DT01 are awesome baits. i also like the bandit footloose. bomber square A is pretty good, i like my shallow baits to have a little more wobble though. i'm not a fan of the mann's  -1's at all.

fishing user avatarjdw174 reply :

I use the FootLoose regularly and have caught everything from bluegill to bass on it.  Consider the StrikeKing 1XS and the Bomber Square A as well.

fishing user avatarVinny Chase reply :

I just got a bomber A in the bass pattern and a Strike King in a sexy shad color.

Thanks guys!

fishing user avatarCanadian Kid reply :

Bombers Shallow and Square A, and Bass Pro Shops XPS Lazer Eye Egg.  Throws like a bullet, and doesn't go deeper than 10".

fishing user avatariceintheveins reply :

Nothing worked as good as the Rapala Risto Rap #4, it dove to 5' on six pound line. The shallower DT cranks are probably the best ones I have used. I love Square A's though too.

fishing user avatarsantacruz reply :

Dont know how shallow you're wanting to go or how much you are willing to spend but little johns are good. They dont rattle so its different then most cranks. They dive 3'-5' and cost around 10$.

fishing user avatarChiCityBasser reply :

Right now I'm using the Strike King 1XS in Gizzard Shad as my go to shallow bait with pretty good success. I've changed the hooks out to Mustad triple grips and have had a fish come loose since changing to them but its the beginning of the season.

fishing user avatarMSPbass reply :

This is kind of different, but I acquired a few Storm Thundercore Pilchers over the winter. They run 1-2'. I had never heard of them before. I'm not sure what to expect, but I plan on giving it a shot this year.

Luhr Jensen Speed Trap

I threw everything at them the other day, only thing that produced a bite was a speed trap.

fishing user avatarBeastie Bass reply :

Norman Thin N is good! M ;)y favorites are Lucky Craft B.D.S. and Rapala DT3

fishing user avatarBassThumb reply :

Rapala DT Fat cranks.

fishing user avatarDiablos reply :

I hate these threads.

BRB omw to Bass Pro to buy some shallow cranks.

fishing user avatarPrimus reply :

Lucky Craft RC 1.5 silent version is my favorite, I also am a big fan of the BDS series along with the Baby 1 minus. I also like throwing wake cranks, have had explosive strikes with the Excalibur wake crank.

fishing user avatarBlue Streak reply :

The Speed Traps have been excellent for me this year. They are a tough bait and run very straight at high speed.

^^ I'm with stupid :(. I am a huge fan of their crankbaits mainly b/c of the price point

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

I like the Timber Tigers.  I have some DC1's I occasionally use.  Mostly I'll use the DC 4 or 5 or 8.

This one is my favorite as well. May not be cheap, but they're worth every penny.

I have a couple of these as well but not much success in the past and time to give them a second chance
