I was thinking last night about how I love Senko Fishing, I mean I am Freaking ADDICTED To the technique
Then I started thinking, I don't think I've ever caught a bass over 3# on a Senko
I catch plenty of them but none that are like BAM! You know, the 6#ers and over.
So it got me thinking, what's your largest Bass on a Senko or Senko type lure like a Dinger or what have you.
well mine is about 4 lbs but i was fishing with my dad up in PA and he caught one over 7 and one over 5
2-1/2# Bama Bug Senko
9 lbs even. Caught in the reeds at Toho during the FL Federation State Tournament in 2011. Caught on a black w/ chartruese flakes at 2pm on the final day. Won big bass for the day!! Woohoo!! LOL
Overall I think I use the senko way too much and want to spend time using other things..... I'll try and try others and not be successful, switch to a senko, and bang, catch a fish. Tough to leave the bait when you do most of your catching with it.
8.25#, back in November of 2010.
7 pounds 6 ounces on Lake Talquin, September 30, 2007. Skipped a green 5" Senko up under some overhanging trees.
My PB, a fish of roughly 5lbs, was caught dead-sticking a senko from the bank. Dead-sticking soft plastics has become my favorite technique - it's relaxing and it just produces fish.
7.5-8lbs. caught on a watermelon candy 5" yum dinger...pic of the fish is in my avatar
5.6 on a smoke pearl purple flake Senko.
Somewhere north of 8.......
Jeff
Right at 5lbs, drifting a submerged grass bed. The wind was perfect that day I would use the trolling motor to get to the edge if grass, make a long cast into clear water and let the wind push the boat back. Green pumpkin with black seeds
Mine was right at 3lbs on a white BPS Stick-o in a local subdivision pond.
My personal best came on a Senko several years ago. Green pumpkin with purple flakes, wacky rigged on an O ring. Early spring 5 to 6 feet down on an undercut bank. Fish was in the 8 lb range. I frequently go back to that lake and more often than not try that spot, but I haven't caught anything substantial like that again. Several slot fish but nothing big.
Figures everyone is catching bigger bass than me, hehe
I tell you, I'm really liking the "dead sticking" technique
This past Sunday I pulled 3 bass off one little stick up by just tossing the senko in there and waiting it out. It was like, I don't care if they hit it on the fall or not, they'll grab it. Sure enough about 30 to 45 seconds after my Senko was just sitting there I'd see my Yellow High Vis Braided line twitch and start to move. Freaking LOVE This d**n lure!
Are all these wacky rigged, or texas rigged?
What is the most popular way to rig these. I've never had much luck either way. Probably not giving them a fair chance.
Hootie
In the 6lb range for me on a watermelon seed yum dinger rigged weightless texas style.
I rarely wacky rig for largemouth because most of the lakes i fish are loaded with grass but i do wacky rig for smallies on the river.

Rigged both was work great.... When the bite is slow I go Wacky LOL. Caught this one on a T-Rigged 5" BPS Stick-O Black/Blue Flake which are my favorite.

About 5 1/2....green pumpkin
cuaght some many bass 5+ on 5" Yum dinger Green with black flake on top white on the bottom.. Rigged wacky.. Works amazing and love style of fishing.. biggest bass 8 alittle under 8 and a half
A little over 5lb on a 5 inch senko in watermelon.
7" Green Pumpkin Yama Senko, Texas rigged:
Six over 9lbs but not quite DD's.
I have caught a lot of fish in the 5-7lb range on a senko. My pb is pretty close to the 8lb mark. Out here several fish over ten are caught on them every year. It is not my favorite bait to fish. But when fishing tournaments it is to effective of a bait not to have one tied on. Smaller Senkos catch big fish but try incorporating the larger 7in Senko's into the mix if you want some larger fish.

I've always just weightless Texas rigged them. Never had any luck wacky style.
My biggest was 8#'s on a wacky rigged Senko.
I rig mine on a falcon lures 1/32 oz hook (size varies between 3/0, 4/0 and 5/0....mostly 3/0). The weight is on the shank which sort of helps keeps the fall horizontal...
I have lost count on how many 5lb + fish I have caught on Senkos, of all sizes 3",4",5", and 6". Both weighted and weightless texas rigged, and weighted and weightless wacky rigged. I have caught 4 fish over 6lbs on them as well. Time and place............time and place.
Several over 5-wacky rigged Stick-os (5 3/8" and 6") mostly. Nothing over 6...yet! Color doesn't matter as much to the fish as it does to me. BPS Crawberry is my #1 color.
what size senko are you using? this is a quote from RW on a senko thread. it helped me take the leap to bigger senkos b/c i like trophy hunting (stout/thick 6" worms like/or similar to original yamamoto's).
"I don't fish 5" Senkos anymore because I think they catch too many small bass. Now, that may sound silly, but I'm a recreational fisherman and I target big bass only. The 6" Senko has moved my bass fishing to another level."
in my head (always a dangerous place) i think of larger fat/heavy senkos sinking faster and once on the bottom they are in big bass territory. smaller/aggressive bass will burn energy and surface quickly to intercept a slow sinking senko. they don't get that chance with large ones and are too scared to go near the bottom 'dinner plate' of a big bass. you get less bites but bigger ones.

6.0 lb smallmouth. 4" Slim Senko, color 297, wacky rigged
Lots in the 5-6lb range but nothing really spectacular. One of my biggest this year was 5 1/2 on a 7" GP BPS stick O T-rigged with a 1/4oz bullet weight pitched into a brushpile.
A lot in the 5 lb range but nothing over that for me yet.
Two over 5 pounds, my biggest bass on any lures are three 6 pounders. Lots of 3 - 4 pound fish too. They catch smaller fish on average than jigs or big plastics, but they do catch some nice fish,
I've been catching a lot between 3-5lbs with a 5" dinger and paddletail worm rigged texas style. Have yet to catch one over 6lbs though.
my PB came on a yum dinger, close to 7 pounds (scale had about a + or - 1/4 lb tolerance)
6.5# on green pumkin senko. pretty good fish for Idaho

Texposed, weightless. I also fish them wacky style with a weedless hook when I want something a little less subtle.
I caught a Spotted Bass this weekend that went over 3#, I was very happy with that. I only Wacky Style my Senko's and I only fish 5" Watermelon Red Flake. I think I will purchase some Green Pumpkin Black flake in the 6" and Texas Rig them weightless and give that a go.
I would love to catch some in the 5+ Range, Just to feel the fight!
This is great participation, 3 Pages!!!
about 7lbs on a hand injected one I made.
Just over 5# for me now swimming senkos is another story I love swimming senkos caught two over 9# on watermelon pepper
In early may of this year i caught a 24"bass on a 4"wacky rigged yum dinger out at the strip pit club i belong to in illinois.I had just picked up my fishing kayak that day(first time in one) and i was nervous about bringing a lot of gear in case it would flip so i brought minimal gear with me,all i had was the bag of yum dingers, hooks, tape measure, and my 7ft st croix lite eyecon,The biggest fish of my life and i left the camera in the truck back on shore.
