What hook do you guys prefer when you wacky rig a senko?
I use a 1/0 or 2/0 wide gap finesse hook.
Brand: gamakatsu
Hooks: splitshOt/dropshot and wide gap finesse <--corrected!! removed the "i" for an "O"
Sizes: 1/0 mainly but I will use 4-3/0
Edited by Darren.I still haven't found a hook I LOVE. My standard is the Gamakatsu Wide Gap Finesse Hook Weedless. I bought 2 this winter to try - Decoy Cover Finesse HD Worm 220 and Falcon Lures Weedless "K" Wacky Hook both weighted and unweighted.
So we shall see. Love me some Wacky Rig!
2/0 Owner Mosquito's are my favorite..

Same here. I also stared using two O-rings instead of one last year to stick the hook straight out and that made way more of a difference than type of hook.

Ditto
I also like a 2/0 circle hook

I'm a big fan of the 1/16 oz Falcon K wacky hooks in the 3/0 size. I used to have a few bags of the larger size 5/0 or 6/0 but they are all gone now. I haven't seen their hooks in stores for several years now. I acquired my stash of wacky hooks when an internet business out of Lake Ozark had a close out on them.
Gamakatsu straight shank worm hook
Does anyone like using wacky jigheads instead?
The Gamakatsu weedless finesse wide gap has saved me a lot of grief from snags and lost senkos/hooks.
Owner 1/0 wacky hook without the weed guard
Owner 2/0 Wacky Weedlees Hook
Sammy octopus hooks. They basically set themselves. Very sharp hooks too.
trokar weedless widegap wacky. Have a huge bite on them, sharp, and strong, and not terribly expensive like most of their hooks.
Owner 2/0 wacky hook. Super large hook gap.
owner wacky on senko i like the owner mosquito a little more on smaller worms like trick worms
On spinning gear I use the VMC wacky jig heads. 1/16th oz. most of the time, I bump it up to 1/8th oz if it's windy, or I am in water deeper than 10'. On casting gear I use the Revenge Flippin' Wackers 1/16th oz. head, and much like with the spinning gear, I bump up to 1/8th oz. in the wind, deeper water, or if I am in heavyish cover and need a little extra weight.
I have not used a weightless wacky rig in many many years, I find the jig heads to be of no ill-effect to getting bites, plus, it allows me to use more cost effective stick baits, like the Yum dingers, which are not as salt laden as GYCB senkos, and last a lot longer. A dinger on a 1/16th oz. jig head sinks just about as fast, and with the same "wiggle" as an unweighted Senko, and by using the jig heads exclusively it keeps my hook selection simple.
I used to use the Falcon lures "K" wacky hooks, and they were great for 5" and 6" baits, but a little over kill on 4" baits, and switched to the VMC/Revenge combo once my supply of Falcon hooks were gone.

Yes, but mostly I fish weightless. That said, my favorite
wacky jig heads are Buckeye FlickIt in 1/16 and 3/32 heads.
I like the football head style, and boy have I caught some
nice bass on them. And I fish the black versions.

Nice! So what situations do you prefer weightless vs weighted? I heard somewhere that to really exaggerate the wiggle from the tail ends of the Senko you should have a weighted hook for wacky rigs. What are your thoughts on that sentiment?

On the norm, when there's chop or a good wind, I go for
the weighted wacky rig, otherwise my braid will blow with
the wind/wave and my weightless worm will never sink.
As for an exaggerated fall, I believe there is truth to that,
but I've done considerably well weightless. I like using
salted baits like the GYCB Senko, or BPS Stick-O, they
have nice shimmy/wiggle on the fall. Most of the time I
find their fall rate entirely acceptable, especially in shallows.
I probably throw the wacky rig way more than I should. So, I've tried a lot of the specially advertised hooks with mainly disappointment. I usually adjust to conditions and these are the main three hooks I use.
The hook I would prefer to throw would be the gamakatsu wide gap finesse. I like because it has straight hook point and slightly wider gap. It's not so large where it constantly catches on stuff, but it's width and shape give's a nice boost to hook up ratio. There's also relatively cheap for a value pack. I generally use it on weed edges and light to medium density weed beds, or flats.
This is the weedless version of same gamakatsu hook mentioned. I prefer to use these hooks around docks. It should be noted that the weed guard is super delicate. It doesn't take a lot for it bend, but I found if you're careful around docks and reel slowly at the right times you won't snag. I like the to able to skip way back into a dock without worrying about snagging on a rope or something. Some of the issues I dislike is that these things are expensive and the rather fragile weed guard. After a few fish it seems to want to stay in place less and less.
This is vmc's weedless wacky hook. I don't like the beaked hook, I feel that it tends skin hook a lot. If I bend the point out more a little bit I find I'm sticking the fish better. The wire weed guard is stiff, like really stiff. Sometimes, I think I miss fish because of it. As much as I dislike this hook I have found a use for it. It works great in the really snaggy stuff. I typically use it fish deep into lily pads. They're okay for the money. The wire guard despite being stout seems to get destroyed sometimes by fish. I think they're great for throwing a wacky rig where I feel most won't.
Been wacky rigging for many, many years now and have settled on the Gamakatsu INLINE circle hooks, in the 1/0 size. Have taken countless smallmouth on them, including LM's, salmon, rainbow and lake trout, white & yellow perch. All wacky rigging 5" Senkos on this very hook. Works for me.
gamakatsu finesse wide gap hook with weed guard
Have tried the standard circle hooks/dropshot hooks, and found my hook-up ratio to be terrible... Straight shank hooks, no matter the brand, have been immensely better for me. For weighted, I like the Buckeye Flick-it head in 3/32 with a GY Senko, have caught some pigs on both setups...
I pour my own weighted wacky jig heads with the do-it molds jig. Rarely lose fish and have only had one hook let go on me so far and that was due to a bad hangup. Normally use 1/16 or 1/8 and yes it does make a difference as far as action goes. If going weightless I'll normally use an EWG hook between a 3/0 and 5/0 on a bit heavier line.

I do, I do!

I have found it's a lot easier to get a hook in the fish with a normal worm hook. I usually use the offset shank because I'm in the kayak and I want to change the Zoom Trick Worm from T rigged to wacky. These worms seem to get more bites for me and bunch up less on the hook. But if I was only going to wacky rig, I'd choose a 2/0 Mosquito. I'm not too worried about weedless because I'm usually in the kayak.

^ must be a new model? Haha seriously I can't stop laughing at that. Apparently I'm having one of those days.
On a more serious note, I use the Trokar Weedless Wacky hooks in 1/0 and 2/0. Paired up with a Pro Wacky Weight for just about all my wacky rig fishing.

Holy smokes. I've caught autocorrect a few times on that very
item. Clearly I missed it this time.

A little more about the VMC. I had a post the other day about Wacky Rig success and this is the hook I was using. I won't use it again except for the stuff no39 has mentioned. I KNOW I missed some strikes because of it. I love most VMC stuff and I have some of the little wacky rig jigs they make. I will continue to use those but these just didn't work out the way I wanted them too

I tried the Eagle hooks with the wire weed guard, not
sure if I tried VMC, but the Eagle were AWFUL! The
wire guard was too stiff, ended up cutting it off.
Today I tie my own weedguard mainly on 1/0 Gammy
splitshot/dropshot hook (mainly because I've got a
lot of them. I use 20lb coated Malin wire, wrapped
around the shank just below the eyelet with braid I've
got laying around using a snell knot. Then I dab it
with superglue, then some shrink wrap.
They've been awesome. Will amend this post with
pictures shortly. Top clockwise: 3/0 Gammy WGF hook
bottom, BPS wacky jig hook (guard a little short on that
one, and my favorite a the 9 o'clock is 1/0 Gammy SS/DS.
EDIT 2/25: I've been tying more of these on the 1/0 and 3/0
hooks. The ones pictured are big, chunky, but this time I
used some leftover 6# Fireline which is a much thinner/smaller
wrap, so it looks much neater than those pictured.

Gamakatsu G-finesse
Weedless and very sharp perfect hook angle. Imo
Wide bite style circle hooks are my favorite but I also use a wacky jighead at times if the water is deeper than 10' just to speed things up a bit...A Split shot crimped above a circle hook works well also and is much cheaper...
I use a 2/0 gamagatsu octopus circle hook
