I'm kinda afraid to start this topic because I may get bashed, I know I'm not any pro and I know I haven't been fishing for 30+ years but I'm sharing my two sense. In my personal opinion I think strike king makes cheap crap that's over priced and a waste of money. I know allot of y'all probably swear by strike king stuff and I've used there XD Crankbaits, sqaurebills, lipless crankbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits, plastics, jerk baits and top waters before and I've been less than impressed. Let me start my rant with this, if you were to buy 10 strike king XD crank baits I bet you at least 5 of them will run side ways until tuned when you can just get a norman dd22 or dd14 for half the price and they run true out of the box ,there sqaurebills don't come threw cover easy at all,not nearly as easy as the new storm Arashi, the lip less crankbaits they make are pretty good but X Caliber and SPRO blow them out of the water, there jig skirts don't have nearly as much action as a Dirty Jig,there spinnerbaits are pretty good I'll give them that I haven't had problems with mine but there are company's that do it better for cheaper, there top water popers are impressive but I still prefer lake fork tackle and storm popers, and there walking baits aren't as good as the spook but there more expensive, and lastly the plastics.......I don't get why people send tons of money on rage tail products when other company's do it wayy better. And the reason I'm saying what I use in its place is to give you an ideas of what I'm using instead. I just really think they don't make quality lures and I was wondering if anyone agreed with me

Brand Bashing here will always illicit several emotional responses on both sides of the fence.
People seem to take it personally somehow.
I have been and continue to be a fan of Strike King products and have not experienced ANY of the problems you've mentioned.
Rage Tail baits have accounted for SO MANY Fish for me, it's tough to consider any baits being "Better"
Additionally, the Strike King line of hard baits, XD's and Red Eye Shad in particular, are top producers for me. (regardless of their price - which is really good too).
So it's very easy for me to say I Do Not Agree with you at all.

Every company's gonna have their good products and bad products... But man, you had to dis the squarebills haha
Don't use SK hard baits much, but IMO no other company even comes close to the Rage Tail line.

I respect you remark but what turns me off of strike king is that there sqaurebills don't come through cover good at all, there XD Crankbaits don't run true and with the plastics other company's make better products like a company like zoom or gambler because that's all they basically do is plastics. But confidence is the key really and if that's what you have confidence with and catch fish doing it I can't argue with you

I can see you haven't thrown one of the new storm Arashi sqaurebills or a lucky craft skeet Reese Sqaurebill, trust me I used strike king Sqaurebills and they put half as many fish in the boat didn't run true and they didn't come through cover as easy.

You obviously don't use many squarebills. Their cranks come through cover just as good as many other top brands. And I've only Boughy one KVD 1.5 that hasn't ran true, no other cranks have not ran true out of the box. And come on man? you dont like the rage tail line? Seriously?
To the OP, You are certainly entitled to your opinion but these threads Never produce ANYTHING in the way of productive information.
Fish the baits you prefer and I'd recommend sticking to posting positive thoughts, ideas and reports.
Good Luck.

Never say never. Plenty of quality products in every fishing aisle.

The rage tail line doesn't impress me at all, when I buzz frogs it's heavier cover amd the zoom horny toads come threwcover better then the rage toads plus there cheaper, when I use swim baits I usually buzz them in pads or hydrilla amd the gambler EZ simmer buzzes better,is cheaper and has better colors, zoom lizards have better colors, float better and are cheaper then rage tail lizards, why use the rage tail chunk when flipping jigs when you can use a net bait paca chunk and get a massive color selection and save money, and lthe zoom ol monster blows the recon worm out of the water with lower price, better colors and better action. So what's sooo amazing about the rage tail line when I can save money and get better products? On top of that I don't have a rod lockers that smell like a coffe shop. And as far as Sqaurebills go I think I used a a few brands, let me name a few like strike king, storm, lucky craft,x caliber, bass pro shops,SPRO,6th sense and river 2 sea and as far as coming threw cover like lay downs/brush piles and over all performance BPS and strike king were the worst and the best we're storm, lucky craft and SPRO.

So what makes strike king baits better that's my question to you all
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I have a question for OP. What is the sole purpose of this "rant"? To try and deter ppl from using SK products? To publicly complain in hopes of getting a "Im sorry you arent happy with our product.", and maybe get some for free? Or to just put a little gasoline on a flame?
What makes any lure superior? Success. Some have it with a certain lure/brand. Some dont

Will first off I don't want anything from strike king even if it's free I'm telling my experiences with the company and wondering if anyone else has the same problems

Success and the product working is not the same thing if a crankbait runs side ways I'm I still expected to put a limit in the in the boat?
I won't make fun of you or bash you but you said something that threw me a bit and when I tell you what I have to tell you, it is going to make you really think. You said you don't like the jig skirts as the Dirty jigs skirts have more action????? I know from this statement you aren't aware that every company uses the same silicone skirting as everyone else, there are subtle differences that you can fix easily, like how many strands are in the skirt, the length of the skirt, and how it is attached, is it tied with wire or does it use a band? I'm familiar with both brands and if you want the SK jig skirts to be more lively, simply cut 1/2" off the length and tie the skirt with some braid or a zip tie and then you will have a lively skirt but the material is all the same.
Your 14 years old and have some growing up to do, please save the negative threads for Facebook
I have come to the conclusion that the English language is dead.
If Norman makes a better Crank, cheaper, and satisfies your needs, then why worry about what other peoples experiences are with a company you think is crap?
I love my C&C Customs Bladed Jigs. I could give a rats butt as to if people have had crap product from ZMan's Chatterbaits, or D&M Chatterbaits.

I wasn't aware of that but the dirty jigs have more flare on the pause I've both in the water and played around with them and it could be just a subtle difference in the way there out together

Bud I'll i said was that I wasn't impressed with there products and wondered if anyone else shared the same problems, is that such a terrible thing?

Yes
Are the jigs tied with EXACTLY the same number if strands, number of Silicone, number of living rubber? Are they both Banded? Or wire tied?
All these are factors in skirt action
On 7/9/2014 at 7:59 PM, NorthFloBassin said:So what makes strike king baits better that's my question to you all
It wasn't your question. Your original post was simply bashing Strike King baits and praising other baits. Strike King isn't my favorite brand in everything (or most things for that matter) but they make a quality product that are competitively priced for the most part. I have dozens and dozens of their squarebills, cranks, and XDs, I have yet to get one that didn't run straight out of the package. Even if I did, a slight bend with the pliers on the split ring hanger, problem solved.
I'm not going to list the reasons I think Strike King baits are good because you have your opinion that I'm not going to sway with my opinion no matter how many examples or pictures of fish I have of baits caught on Strike King baits. So instead I'll read with amusement the post in this thread until it flames out and gets locked.
NorthFloBassin,
You have dozens of crap baits? Go ahead and send them to me.
Ill even pay for shipping
Jeez i put nine lbs of fish in the boat in under ten mins of a 6xd the other day...one five and one four lb fish...stupid 6xds lol
Caught an 11lb hybrid striper on the 6xd yesterday on 12# flouro with a palomar knot even! My go in heavin the humanity of it all

Actually you don't. Your posts are pretty well thought out and coherent for the most part. This forum is sponsored by Rage Tail which is a Strike King subsidiary. There are more Rage Tail apologists in this forum than you can shake a stick at. I gave up trying to get information on how to rig or fish the baits here because every time you offer a hint of criticism then guys pop up and say how you are fishing or rigging the bait wrong because there is no way there could be something wrong with the bait itself. My experience with Rage Tail products is that they have awesome action and catch fish but fall apart way too quickly. I'm willing to sacrifice a little bit of action for more durability but that's just me.
In regards to guys just posting pictures and memes as a response to your post, this is a tackle forum and there is nothing wrong with what you posted. Opinions about tackle should be welcome here. You don't like strike king and you offered an explanation as to why.
I will say that not all sponsors are bad because I have had a number of good experiences with Siebert outdoors and I think they make very good quality, reasonably priced jigs.
