fishing user avatarfissure_man reply :

It's “dinger”

…but really, if it was meant to be pronounced “sinko” they’d have spelled it that way :tongue77:

How about this:

Fat “ee-ka” or Fat “eye-ka” ?

Well, it's not spelled "Sanko" either.

fishing user avatarMIbassyaker reply :

"Go to the post office, then go to the store"

"Then go"

g --> k = "Then ko"

th --> s: "Sen ko"

Move the K to the end of the previous syllable: "Senk o"

"Senko"

Or, if you like: "Jenga"

J--> s: "Senga"

G-->k: "Senka"

A-->o: "Senko"

fishing user avatarfrosty reply :

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend from WI regarding the pronunciation of crappie. He said "croppie" as most of the country does. I pronounced it the southeastern "crappy". He laughed at mine and told me it's not pronounced that way. I said "Spell crop for me and spell crap for me."

fishing user avatarMaster Bait'r reply :

I pronounce it "zinkerz"

I'm latino and in Spanish the "e" has only one pronunciation it's the natural to pronounce it.

fishing user avatarCTBassin860 reply :

I say Dinger as well

fishing user avatarnpl_texas reply :

I say it Sane-Ko

fishing user avatarreb67 reply :

fishing user avatarnstec reply :

The main senko-style worm I really use is the Strike King Zero, so I usually just call them "Zeros."  If I do say it though, I'll naturally pronounce it "sinko."  I will concede, however, that it probably should be pronounced "saynco."

fishing user avatarDarren. reply :

Saynko.

Senko.

It's like the on going argument with my wife (who is from Michigan) about the pronunciation of asphalt. She says ASHphalt, I say asphalt like a butt and fault.

You're the correct one. My wife says "Anirondack chairs". I've even told her it's Adirondack, but she doesn't care to be right.

I'm from Michigan and definitely do not say ashphalt lol

As for the senko ?? I've always pronounced it how it's spelt. Senko sen as in sending and ko as in co-host . Senko. Definitely not sinko lol. I think a company made a knock off and called it the sinko. Not sure though.

Years ago, before I even used a senko I used the hula grub.. and we called them Gary's too. His plastics are fish catchers. Period.

It's "ee-ka".  I think ika means squid in Japanese.  An "i" is pronounced "ee" in Japanese.
