Okay, so what's the best swim jig trailer out there? I'm thinking a non-traditional craw trailer like some sort of shad or grub, my list includes Rage Tail Menace, Reaction Innovations Lil' Dipper, Keitech Fat Impact, Yum Money Minnow, Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver, Zoom Z-Craw. What are some others that you've had success with, why do you think they work so well?
There is no "best," only some that work better some of the time. Other times, it doesn't matter. I've even had a good bite with no trailer.

I'd rather go with some of the more successful baits as a starting point though instead of blindly purchasing something that looks good to me but could be a total stinker!
Depends if I'm hopping it I like a strike king chunk. For just swimming and stopping I go for a paddle tail trailer or a rage tail grub.
The point is, you'll get a laundry list of baits, eventually. All them work. Sometimes a few types work better than others. Other times, it's something else. Add in that you can throw it without a trailer, and you get the picture. Lots of options and permutations. I recommend looking at some the options for sale by our sponsors as a start. The Menace, Rage Chunk, and Shell Cracker are effective. I also like Bizzbaits Cutter Craw and Pad Daddy.
Most baits with craws and paddle tails work fine.
I think size and action matters.
A rage craw, hula stick, and zoom paddle tails are a good starts.
Try a speed craw.
I just started useing these and really like them as a trailer.

I plan to use these too but was trying to think of something other than a craw as a trailer. I figure I'll use the craw mostly for dragging along the bottom and pitching into vegetation.
My favorite are the keitech fat impact 3.8 or 4.3's.

Don't forget on top then.
Skim it across a grass line dropping it in every hole.
Basically the same places you'd throw a speed worm.

I really like the Keitech Easy Shiner is whatever size/color fits your jig. I use them on my chatterbaits mostly.
Depends on what you are trying to duplicate? If it is a craw and you are dragging the bottom then use the same trailer as your other jigs. Most of the time I am fishing a swim jig I am trying to imitate some sort of other fish. For open water a 4" grub works but most of the time I am fishing in or over shallow water grass. My top 3 are; Keitech 3.8" Fat impact, 4" Pline Kick-R minnow, and Damiki Anchovy shad all of which are boot tail minnows. Other baits work but I found 4" is the perfect size as 3.5" is to short and the skirt interferes with the trailer and the 4-5" is too long.

I fish a lot of swim jigs and my go to trailer is a rage craw. I'm sure some trailers are better for certain conditions but a rage craw gets me a lot of bites. In the fall a 5 inch white swim bait works well too.
yamamoto heart tail
KVD swimming shiner or Rage menace.
Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper and Little Dipper have produced well for me along with the Keitech Swing Impact and the Keitech Swing Impact FAT.
Has anyone tried the Eco Pro Swing Shad? They look identical to the Keitech Impact Fat's and get good reviews...basically people say they are a less expensive (by half) and more durable Keitech and really work well.
Menace rigged vertical. And a kalins lunker grub are my favorites.
Rage craw,twin tail grub,pit boss,brush hog....Shall I keep going??

I have tried them and really like them. I think they actually have a wider kick than the keitechs IMO (doesn't mean better but can be useful if they want more action that day). They are definitely more durable and the tail still kicks at very low speeds. If I'm fishing the swimjig faster they are usually my go-to, if I'm trying to be a little more subtle I still go to the keitech's.
I like the eco pro swing shad... Half the price of swing impact fats and more durable. Great action.
The best swim jig trailer hinges on the fish's current disposition.
Simply put, the best swim jig trailer is a moving target.

This seems to be the buzz lately.

Yep... The Cabela's near me had them for $2.49 a pack. I loaded up. Eco pro has put out some good stuff recently. I just received their new hollow body frog from TW earlier this week... has trokar hooks so I'm pumped to see what the hook up ratio will be like. Plus they are 3/4 oz, so should be able to sling em!
Bass Pro Shops Speed Shad 3.8" when they're on sale (I have a bunch saved). Zoom Fat Alberts if I want to be cheap, but they tend to work good. I think they're underrated. I just bought some Zoom 4" tab tail grubs. They claim the "tabbed tail" imitates a crippled bait fish.

honestly speed shads are my number 3 after the keitech's and the eco pros. They're dirt cheap, durable, and catch fish. They're nice when the pickerel get viscous and you start going through a lot.

If you go on Cabelas.com all of the swing shads are on backorder.Ill have to swing up the the one out here to see if they have any left.

They are getting popular fast. And just about every color of the eco toad is on back order until June on tacklewarehouse. Only honey locust is available.
I think it's best to stick to 3 trailers for swim jigs. A chunk, a craw/menace (something that flaps), and a small swimbait:
For cold water / pre-spawn I use any sort of chunk as a trailer... choose your favorite brand. I want minimal action at this time.
For the spawn, upgrade to something with more action. For me, either a 5" grub or a Rage Menace. Once the bluegill spawn, I'll switch over to a swimbait style trailer, such as a RI Skinny Dipper.. the Eco Pro will work too, choose whatever brand you want.
In the heat of summer, I usually go back to the rage menace and reel it back slowly near the bottom, so it looks like a crawfish. I also throw it into heavy cover, and I'll use a rage menace for that as well.
I really like Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper, but I have a ton of trailers I will use from all different companies and all different styles, there is just no one best trailer...

That green and orange Keitech is the best sunfish imitating trailer hands down.
