Has anyone used these yet? I love them, they slide right out of the way when you go to set the hook but stay intact after many fish. The only time I have to rebait is when I get snagged and have to break off. Does anyone know of a similar bait that feels the same in your hand( the ribs )? I have felt other baits and most do not feel as smooth as this does. I know reaction innovations make a beaver bait that a lot of my friends swear by. Does anyone have a similar bait they enjoy to throw?
I have thrown the Bomb a few times behind a Biffle head. Caught a few fish and I agree it does seem to be more durable than other similar baits. It hasn't been my experience that it catches any more fish than other baits, but I haven't thrown it enough at this point to say. They do have some colors that you can't find on other baits.
I flip and punch em. Good baits. It's something different

I normally throw it texas rigged or punch with it, i havent used it as a jig trailer yet.
My number 1 beaver style is a pit boss. They are ribbed on the bottom similar to the d bomb. A grew others that I feel should be mentioned are the kvd rodent and rage tail menace. The menace is not a traditional beaver style but it is compact and great for flipping/pitching/punching/jig trailer. if you want just a little more action, I would give it a look.
Pitt boss is a beast too.
Gambler Ugly Otters and Why Note.

I wish the why nots had more colors.
I'm also a big fan of the Pit Boss. I am also really interested in the D Bomb, but it is too cold for me to try them. I have used the Reaction Innovations Sweet Beavers and I really like their color selection. Other than that I do not really think of them as anything special. That's just my opinion on them though.
I pick up one pack right after Ish won the BASS tournament on them last year. There's nothing bad I can say about the bait but I don't think it stands above some of the other beaver style baits that are on the market. I don't think it's any worse either, just a subtle variation on the lure. The two beaver baits I use most are the original R.I. sweet beaver and the NetBait B-Bug. I like the R.I. smallie beaver better than the smaller version from NetBait but I prefer the B-Bug in the "regular" size.
Reaction Innovations Sweet Beavers and Havoc Pit Boss'. Can't go wrong when you're flippin' with these!

The biggest difference I have seen is that they stay weedless and have a better hook up ratio because you only burry the hook in thin ribs and not thick plastic. Give em a shot once this weather warms up, try candy grass or love bug they have them in almost every dicks. The one out in orland has them, little bit of a drive though.

haha that's funny you would mention that because I was there a few weeks back and I picked up a few packs of them. I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Texas rigged on a 3/0 hook with any weight you want is an awesome setup.
I've used the bps brand beaver baits and out of the package they are stiff and feel as if no fish would ever bite it. However, the first outing where I really gave them a chance I was crushing the bass. Go figure.
Before this past summer I had never had any confidence in beaver style baits. I have always been a fan of John Crews so when he came out with his own line of lures I decided to give them a try. Long story short I now have plenty of confidence in these lures. I cant remember right off what the black and blue colored ones are called , but they work very well in both stained and fairly clear water. Give em' a try and I'm sure you will like them as well. John is a great guy and has created some great soft plastic baits, I really hope he does well both on tour and with his business in the future.

I got to work on his truck this past summer,my jaw dropped when I showed up for work and hisTundra was parked out front. He took a few minutes and talked about his upcoming bait line and I could tell he was excited. D Bomb as well as all the Missle line of lures are top notch quality.
R.I. Sweet and smallie beavers. I have caught more fish on the smallie beaver in black/red flake , fried watermelon, and white on a shakeyhead during the shad spawn Is deadly.
*** Has anyone bought a bulk bag off of his website? I might just do it. $13 for a pretty large bag
I know what you mean, I found a pack and they seem actionless and clunky. On 1/10/2013 at 8:27 AM, LAG ISSUEZ said:I've used the bps brand beaver baits and out of the package they are stiff and feel as if no fish would ever bite it. Big bite baits yomama and pit boss. The yomama is very under rated and few people know about them, its a mix between beaver baits and a craw. Try them out and youll be hooked!

Im not 100% sold on the pit boss but honestly for the price I will pick some up.
Anyone throwing these on the Gamakatsu heavy cover worm hooks in 3/0 or 4/0?
Trokar 5/0 for me. Love it.

Come spring / summer time that is what I am coming to be using to punch. Texas rigged I use a 3/0 ewg hook.
Yeah I've been bitten by the bait monkey the past week so I figured why not stop now and give them a try. I picked up 3 packs of each size 3-4. I typically throw the RI sweet beaver but today I got 4 bags of pit boss' on clearance. Figure 3/0 on the beaver and 4/0 on the boss.
I use the Gammie 3/0 but you can use the 4/0 too.
If I am throwing a beaver, it's Reaction Innovations or nothing.
I usually throw RI but found some strike king rodents for dirt cheap and coloes i use the most so we willsee how they fair.
That's what I normally use. I was given a few bags by a local tackle shop to try out. Before that I used the flappin' hog. I still do a good bit. It has a ton of appendages.
The D-Bomb is more durable yet has more action than the other beavers mentioned. I opt for the D-Bomb in most all situations I want a beaver style bait now.
I really like the D Bomb so far. My girlfriends brother gave me a pack of Sweet Beavers in a purple color to try... It will be getting flipped this summer. I have a pack of Ugly Otters to try this summer as well.
When I first wanted to try the beaver baits, I saw an end cap of Havok baits for the first time and grabbed some Pit Bosses and Grass Pigs. My girlfriend actually caught her first bass on a pit boss that was rigged on my rod (all but one appendage was pecked off by bluegill, I was about to change it) while I was re-tying for her (she now knows how to tie a palomar). We traded rods and she tossed it out into the center of a canal run out, drug it along the dropoff and WHAM, three pounder.
She then proceeded to buy herself an array of soft plastics and frogs the next time we went shopping, including a few colors of pit bosses. She still has the torn up pit boss in her little pink tackle box.
I leaned on these style of baits a lot last year. I used Yum Wooly Hog most of the time. I feel that the rings in the bait play a big factor into getting the fish to bite. The wooly hog has bigger rings then what is shown above but same theory I believe. I have thrown other bait that resemble these style of baits but without the rings or smoother bodies and have not had the success that I have had with the ringed body style of baits.
I'm currently trying to decide which bait I like better between the RI Sweet Beaver and the MB D Bomb, I have caught more fish on the RI, but I haven't had the same conditions to try out the MBs. I will say that I like the feel and looks of the MBs better than the RIs.
Havocs baits are low quality. They could at least trim the excess pouring off.

D Bombs keep hook protected better. Lot more snags with the RI.
d bomb has an oil coating..pretty sure it imparts extra.flavor on the beaver. keeps bait in mouth longer.
I have had decent success with the Strike King beavers too. Hard to beat these though IMO.

those are great baits. the only drawback to them is they are about as durable as a senko.
