For the guys who received the samples-Ya know I was just thinking. I wrote a little post below and came up with an idea. (O NO) I was up at Lake Champlain last weekend. Of course I brought my arsenal of lures.-(50 lb bag). But what I wanted to do was concentrate on was the new Shak-e 2 Head. . Listen I know its fun catching bass. Up there you can catch bass after bass after bass-BUT if you are not learning anything by experimenting -There really isnt much of a challenge to it. Remember its not the kill-its the thrill of the hunt. Its learning a new technique that you can possibly apply another day to another fishing situation. So I broke out the Shak-e2. I have used a lot of different techniques with that head. Finesse worms-sweet beavers., craws, even senkos- smaller swimbaits-tubes-I just kept comming up with new stuff to put on the head. Actually whatever I had in my bag is what I rigged on. I used it hopping, swimming, putting it on beds, skipping snagged 20 ft up in a tree-you name it I did it. NOW. for you guys that have them. Tell me and others how you used the new Shak-e2 head-Something different-unique -maybe I am overlooking a new style- list them here and tell us what you did different and caught a fish- Ok here is what I am going to do- I will take the top 5 new techniques(I want pictures) -the top five guys with new styles gets 5 packs of the new Shak-E2s ($25 value) be honest like I said if you dont learn something -what fun is it-See what you come up with- thats 5 winners that get 5 packs each. Thanks Bobby
Great idea!
..........I haven't received mine yet, but when I do, I'll be experimenting for sure!
lol...this should make this weekend a whole bunch of fun.
If I get mine today, I will definitely try some odd arrangments tomorrow.
Okay Bobby, you've now peaked my interest. I didn't take advantage of the free offer, but a contest... I like! Now, what am I doing wrong? I click on your [www] button at the bottom of your post and can't locate the shak-e2 on your site, although I did see the megastrike that I wanted to also purchase (I'm tired of fighting with my son-in-law over the one tube I have in the boat).
Hey Zel ,How are ya doing bud??? One thing we try to promote here as a company and a forum is comradery. We are here to hurt no one. My mother told me years ago. "find a job you love -and you will never work a day in your life". I live by that.-b good, Bobby
Thanks Bobby, I'll call that number.
The smallmouth in my local lake are moving deep soon. My idea is to use the shak-e2 with a *** as the weight for a dropshot rig utilizing a 4 handpoured worm about 24 above the shak-e2 NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO CLAIM THIS ONE IT'S MINE!!! (just kidding)
ARRRRR Zel you beat me to it! That was the first thing that came to mind
TOO LATE ALREADY CLAIMED BY JIM "HIAWATHA" MAYBERRY--sorry Zel
Dang... my turn to say ARRRRR! I'll come up with something though... the wheels they are a'turnin
QuoteDang... my turn to say ARRRRR! I'll come up with something though... the wheels they are a'turnin
Now THAT is a dangerous thought....
Shak-E2 Head rigged with a Fat Ika, skirt pointing up with a floating Rapala or Slug-Go attached to the line just above the Fat Ika so that it appears to be stalking or eating the bug?
Topwater Pitching 8-)
When fishing shallow brush. Flip the Shak-E2 over a small branch (using braid so when you set the hook on a fish it will snap the branch and set the hook into the fish). Let it just sit on tup of the water shaking it. It will swim in almost a circle. These fish have probably never seen a topwater bait, never mind one with this type of motion.
I was thinking Double shaky head rig one tied to mt main line with the other tied of the first or maybe a three way Swivel . Next my weird mind at work the shacky head under a boober like a poppin cork.
I didn't get in on the freebies, but I use shakey style jigheads with a _______ in ________ to give me the ability to fish _____________. Normally it works when fish are aggressive or not, deep or shallow, thick cover or open water. Shame I can't share because y'all gotta come up with your own rig. I will be trying out a pack of Shak-E2's when I can get some. I will be putting a ________ on them like always and fish them with ____________ around ___________. Good times ;D
How about a Shak-E2 dropshot rig? Use the Shak-E2 as the weight on the bottom, rigged like a shakey head, but farther up the line there is a drop shot hook and dropshhot bait, that way the rig can fish both the bottom and the middle of the water column, and it can be cast and dragged/hopped/etc back to the boat because the Shak-e2 comes over cover better than many drop shot weights (and it will catch more fish than a dropshot weight will ;D)
I have already done this, and have caught fish on it, but it is what everyone else is saying to do. Dropshot with a Shak-e2 for weight. Like so:
Works wonderfully! I put either a big roboworm, or a trick worm on the bottom, and a smaller roboworm on the top. I haven't caught two fish at once yet, but that would be awesome. Here is a fish I caught with this setup.
Rig it wacky so it flips over itself.

I was gone all day Saturday striper fishing on the Tennessee River.
So, Sunday is for my wife and honey-dos. However, she had a nail
appointment at 12:30 , so I decided to sneak in an hour at the
new "secret pond."
I fished the Shak-E2 Head initally rigged with a Roboworm
and coated with MegaStrike attractant. First cast, rig hung-up
and lost. Five minutes later, fish on! Lost the bait, caught the
bass. Third bait was the GYCB Kut-Tail. One cast, one fish,
bait lost.
Since I only had an hour, I thought three baits were enough...wrong!
I happen to have a pack of Net Bait Paca Craws that I have only used
for jig trailers and had no intention of fishing, but that's all I had left to
fish with. Two casts later, the best bass of the day and time to leave.
Totals: 3 fish, approximately 18 lbs, two very nice ones and a
tournament bass. Estimated weights, 8, 6 & 4. This is my first
time to fish the Shak-E2 Head, but it won't be the last!
Thanks Bobby!

Took mine with me tio a local pond Thursday and had no luck with it but i did leave one of them hanging in a limb after only getting it wet about 8 times.
Got mine last Friday and WILL be using them on Upper Otay this Wednesday. THANKS, Bobby! I'll post results after I use 'em with some "secret" add ons:o)
I caught 4 the first hour on Lake Conroe with the new samples Saturday. Just dropping them off the grass and they got nailed. Storm drove me off the water so I did not get a chance to really give them a workout. Largest was about 2 3/4lbs.
Thanks for the samples.
I whacked this smallmouth yesterday morning.
Rigged with a micromunch trickster worm, I also caught 2 nice largies on them later in the day. Everyone was askin me if i had any more of those, I said not yet I showed them the cool weighting system and line tie.
Its a winner in my book
Thanks agian,
E
I caught them on this style rig yesterday on a rip rap wall. I do not recommend this rig in any type of weed or cover-EXPOSED HOOK DUH but it was working great on the bass on this rocky wall-didnt lose a rig. This was used on the 3/16 head-I want to try it on the 3/8 or 1/2 in real deep water
Okay, I hope this one doesn't get to far out from under my hat. Riskkid was with me but there was a problem. I lost the 4+ lb. smallmouth while trying to lip it. So no pic.
Anyway, I was fishing a a Megastrike shaky head with a 6" finesse worm. I found a finesse technique that compliments stroking a jig on deep water ledges during post spawn. I simply lift a shaky head way off the bottom with and let it fall on a slack line to get a vertical drop (deadly on suspended fish). I found that the Megastrike heads I was using (the freebies from the G-Ville road trip) gave the worm a light wobble. I could feel it when I lifted it. The worms I use are a discontinued in that size but they have lots of action with light movement. I also swim shaky heads over the drops with great results. I've caught a handful over 5 lbs. on tough days using both of these techniques. I'll see if I can't get a picture quality fish on one the next time out!
CJ
OOPS....CJ has posessed Teria. Oh well! She can have the credit!
Okay, after receiving my Shak-e2 jigs yesterday, here is what I came up with. Above all, I wanted something easy to rig up while on the water.
It involves a Shak-e2, a tube bait, and a 6 floating worm. I bit off about an inch of the worm to get a flat end, and inserted the floating worm into the tube. After a bit of tweaking, I found that after pushing the worm all the way into the tube, you need to puncture a small hole in the end of the tube and insert a little super glue to get the worm to bond to the tube, so that you get a good hold between the Shak-e2 spiked bait holder, and the tube/worm. I tried the rig out in the swimming pool this morning. The action looks great, and I was impressed with how well the Shak-e2 design remained upright when working the lure. When the rig comes to rest, the tentacles from the tube gave a nice flare action, and then the tail of the floating worm subtly floats upward and also gives it a nice little undulating action to the tube tentacles. I like the bulk look of the rig in the front that the tube adds to the floating worm.
I won't get a chance to try out the rig until this or next weekend, but after seeing it in the swimming pool, there is no way the bass will be able to resist this rig (hope, hope). And you can come up with some interesting color combinations between the tube and the floating worm.
Well Bobby... so who came up with this one before me? LOL :
And one more question. The line tie eyelet is rather small on my Shak-e2's, especially for those of us guys with old age vision. What knot do you recommend, because I was not able to get my line through the eyelet a second time, which ruled out the Palomar knot and the Trilene knot. I'm thinking maybe the Rapala knot might work best.
Picture of rig and bass caught to follow...
Try the Sixteen-Twenty (also known as Duncan or Pitzen Knot):

8-)
That looks like a simple enough knot to tie.
It is easy to tie. The knot is effectively a noose. I have had no issues, but I do not know how it has been rated by formal testing.
8-)
Zel, I think you have been sniffing the MegaStrike a little to much lately. I said what the heck is he talking about and then I made one of your rigs. That is actually a good looking rig- I think I have you in the top five so far. As for the knots-I use10 lb test and use a polomar knot- I am 46 and i cant do it without my glasses -so I know where you are with this
PenName Teria- Did you say you noticed a wobble while lifting that head, When were were testiing the head we noticed that the fulcrum part was actually acting like a crankbait bill. I showed this to the photographer and my guys I work with. It did give a wobble. I might do some tinkering to make it give off more vibration- When my guys had seen that head do that . -Jim said we havent even tapped the full potential of that head.
ive got an idea. ITS MINE! lol. i call it the "shakE-lina" rig.it consists of the, of course shakE2 head(3/8 oz.) with a plastic of choice(kinami flash in pic) with a peice of surgical tubing slid down the shank of the hook. tied off to the hook is about a foot of line, with a small floating plug(small shad rap in pic) tied off to the end. im thinkin it might work well on post spawn bass located around dropoffs in spwning coves, or around shallow points or flats. hop it, drag it, swim it, im thinkin just about anything will work with it.
Bobby,
Are you still mad that I haven't called you in a while or what???
You have had my address and telephone numbers for about 10
years now and I still get not 1 single little jig head. That's ok though,
I am going to pay your son to secretly mail me a big ole' box of stuff
from your secret lab. If I recall, he should be about 5-6 by now so I
think he can figure out how to send stuff by UPS. LOL

QuoteZel, I think you have been sniffing the MegaStrike a little to much lately. I said what the heck is he talking about and then I made one of your rigs. That is actually a good looking rig...
I got to try the rig out over the weekend. Went to a lake well know for numbers in small fish, but not many large fish. Started out fishing the rig in open areas and around boulders, but no luck. We then hit the lily pad areas for the last hour, from 10am to 11am in 90 degree weather. That is were the rig shined, and letting it fall in pockets was the ticket. And it produced all of the biggest fish of the day. Some hits were on the fall, others came slightly jigging it after it came to rest. No camera along, but I have mangled and bent shak-e2 hooks to attest to the effectiveness. That Shak-e2 rig and a frog are now my lily pad goto setups.
On a related subject...still haven't received my sample. I believe I was one of, if not the first to send the email, sent a couple more with no response :-/
Zel, I was out yesterday throwing a "Shak Flick" rig - No punn- with a wacky rigged senko- There were fish stacked on points and whacked the heck out of numbers. Biggest almost 4 lbs but 20 over 2 lbs. I just went to the furthest part of the points- pulled out a little further ,then pulled the wackey rigged shak-E2 down the point. Halfway down -I just felt that familiar tap- Didnt lose a fish or a rig- it was a sandy type bottom. I only used it with a 3/16 head-green pump-
I tried mine for the first time yesterday and on the first cast I snagged a rock and broke it off.... :-/
TOKYO I havent gotten any emails from you- send it to bobby@megastrike.com -Hook a brother up program
Bass - I just got in 30,000 heads we take visa -Mastercard LOL
