I used Booya jigs on my last three outings. I went through 7 jigs on maybe 10 bass. The rattles keep coming off after almost every fish. It's really ticking me off cause I hate taking time to retie after each loss, especially in the wind.
I need top quality 1/2 and 3/8 jigs. Can someone please recommend a GOOD jig or suggest how to keep my rattles on the Booya?
I don't mind paying $ for top quality.
I use Strike King Elite Model Jig (EMJ) has Gammy hook and rattles don't break off easily. And not just because they are my distributor. They are good jigs.

Brian, I haven't used them, how do their rattles compare to SK jigs?

Try Outkasttackle.com These are great jigs
On the rare occasion I use a jig with a rattle it is always Strike King's Denny Brauer Pro-Model Jigs or Lunker Lures Triple Rattleback Jigs.
QuoteLunker Lures Triple Rattleback Jigs.
I like those real well....and for a jig with no rattles but hand tied skirts and top quality, try the Skinny Bear Elite football jigs.
I really like deps jigs but they don't have any rattles. I don't use jigs with rattles, the one's that come with them I remove.

Terminator Pro Top Secret is a good bait. The rattles are tough and well hidden. I especially like the trailer keeper under the hook. The hook stays free of any plastic or pork.

I fish Craig's jigs in the 1/2 oz size. In addition to black and black & blue, I had some forest green with black flakes custom made. This is a very high quality jig.
Recently I had GMAN make a few 1/2 oz for me and I want to tell you, he makes an excellent jig. I bought his version with a stand-up hook and have had good luck, 100% hook-ups!
And finally, Evolution Jigs (one of our fine sponsors). This is the only 3/8 oz jig I use. Bobby's jig is unique in its ability to remain upright. There is no eyelet, you tie directly into the jig head and the weedguard is constucted with fluorocarbon fibers. I have caught several 7+ largemouth on this jig over the past two weeks.
Although I continue to experiment with a number of trailers, the Net Bait Baby Paca Craw is hard to beat. This may replace the GYCB Flappin' Hog as my #1 trailer.

Eakins Jigs have been lights out for me. Last year I may have caught two fish all year on jigs. Hated them but tried a bunch to try and get on the jig bite.
This year I went right to my Eakins jigs that I have never fished. So far in one hour of fishing them in three days (not a lot of time to stay out) I have pulled in over 10 LMs and all of them were over 2 lbs. With the big one being 3.8
Some with Zoom Super Chunks as the trailer and my big boys coming off using a Berkley 3" Beast in black as trailer. They wouldn't let go of the Eakins with the Beast.
I'm now in love with Jigs. 8-)
Flippin Jigs- Oldham's, Peppers, and Tournament Force
Footballs- Jewel, All Terrain, Picasso, and Omega
Finesse- Jewell Eakins or SK Bitsy Flip
I rarely use rattles in my jigs, but the ones I do have are Lunker Lure Rattle Backs.
Thanks for all the help guys. I'll try some of the ones yall mentioned. Thanks again.
I started using Lunker Lure Rattle Back jig back in the early to mid 80's and I had'em to myself cause there were no other JigaManiacs around that even knew about 'em. (Except maybe Catt) and I did'nt know about him back in those days. I was in HAWG HEAVEN. Then some other guys started throwin them and I felt like I was gettin' Two Timed. Then the Triple Rattle Back came out and I was "Back in the Saddle Again". No one had any idea. My clients and I caught 46 fish over 10lbs in '95 and several bigguns. Since those days, alot of manufacturers started coming out with rattling jigs, "And The Race Was On". To this day, I still like their rattle chamber above all other set ups, but now other jigs have much better hooks. Do I still throw'em, Heck Yeah, I've got 500 of'em still on cards in 1/4 to 1/2 oz. And these are the older models that have the strands of mylar in the skirt in colors Black n Blue and also Black n Red. Sorry guys, I can't share any of these with ya, there like diamonds to me. Haven't fished Days in 15 yrs except on extremely rare occasions for film etc. due to ole skin cancer flare ups, so the rattlers are the norm for me. Without exception, all of my clients would switch to rattlin jigs before the night was over and would always be glad they did.
I have used many different manufacturers jigs over the yrs but have settled on the SK Elite Model Jig because it has a gammy hook and rattle is good as well. If it weren't for the hook and the better hookup percentage I would still primarily be a "Triple Rattleback Chunker".

Which one is that? The Poison Tail w/wide gap hook?
I don't know what GMAN calls them, perhaps he will see this thread and reply.

I do not own a jig with a rattle. On the rare occasion that I end up with one I cut the rattle off. I fish Oldham Trailer hitch jigs mostly.
Rattle snake JIGS From Anglers arsenal .com are top quality and have resulted in catching very large fish 8-)
Try searching the web for Davis jigs from Davis Bait Co. Killer jigs if you can get your hands on 'em.
Dixie Jig Works they dont have a website because your jig is CUSTOM TOTALLY CUSTOM. go to chattanoogafishingforum.com and Private message ranger rob.
I've been having good luck with evolution jigs so far this year. Black and Blue also PB&J
QuoteI don't know what GMAN calls them, perhaps he will see this thread and reply.8-)
Is that it?
That appears to be GMAN's jig. I haven't seen others with the dimpled jig head. The hook stands up to display the tailer very prominently, too.

Thats his, I got that picture off his website. He calls them "Widegap Jigs" on his site.
Good luck losing a fish once you stick them on this jig. It's the first jig I've ever used (and I've used a LOT of different brands over the years) that they haven't been able to throw. I caught at least 250+ bass on these jigs last year and never lost a single one I hooked. I am now fishing GMAN's jigs exclusively. The quality is there, the price is right and you will boat a very very high percentage of the fish you hook.
I've been trying this type of rattle this season and I don't have any complaints. It's hard to see in this picture but they snap on with hook/ring and can swing freely. If you have a bunch of favorite jigs that comes with the mushroom head rattle these might be an option instead of having to buy all knew jigs. But where's the fun in that?
