Best Worm? 2025

fishing user avatarcoots reply :

I know there isn't a lot of difference, so I've read, in worms. I live / fish on Lake G in Alabama and Texas Rig'n a worm is hot pretty much year around.

I'm looking to buy some nice 10" worms to toss. I used some from my local wal-mart called Pro's Choice.. hooked me a 4.6 ouncer on one of theirs Saturday. Black with a blue tail. Tore them up Saturday on it. A guy in our club said that's a nice worm, we were ripping them on Black with purple tail. So I went and looked for Black with purple tail, nothing to be had.

So I'm online looking at worms now, if nothing else, just for more variety of colors... and if I'm being honest... I won't stray far from Black ;)

Just wonderin' what a good soft plastic company would be? Oh and I hardly ever throw a straight worm.. almost 90% of the time it's the u-tail or 'curly' tail.

10" Rage tail anaconda is a nice worm.  It doesn't have a straight black with colored tail option though. Junebug or blue fleck might be an option. The action on these is pretty awesome. http://www.ragetail.com/news/color-charts/rage-anaconda-color-selection/

I was fishing Mink Creek a couple of weeks ago. I was doing good with a Rage Tail 10"Thumper in green pumpkin.

fishing user avatarMCS reply :

Gambler makes a great 10" ribbon tail. The also have 11" inch ledge worm. I like them because of color selection, and they are scented. Their ribbon tails have a more agressive ribbing than culprit or zoom. Kissimmee blue, blue shadow are a couple good ones. And they are pretty good on the wallet too, 4 bucks for 10.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Thumper and Anaconda, Blue Fleck (purple)

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

Mann's and Zoom are about all I ever use.

fishing user avatarPepul reply :

Culprit worm

fishing user avatarNice_Bass reply :

Berkeley 10" power worm should be at the top of any list.

fishing user avatarRAMBLER reply :

Productolure.com has some good colors.  Biggest I saw were 8" though.

Just like Colt .45, it works every time...

fishing user avatarbigbill reply :

I believe we still can find the culprit worms with the colored tails in 7 1/2", 10" & 12" lengths. Mister Twister still offers worms with colored tails too.

I rent boats on one lake here were the black creme 6" worms still catch bass, but if we go to the other side of the lake we catch monster pike on the worms with the colored tails.

I been purchasing the mister twister worms and the culprit worms stocking up on them. I do also use spike it to color the tails too.

fishing user avatarGrizzn N Bassin reply :

Zoom ol monster culiprit.. Berkeley  10 inch power worm

fishing user avatarcoots reply :

Thanks for the replies guys! I think I like the looks of those Culprits...

Is there a reason y'all stockpiling Culprit?

And is there a reason you guys don't toss colored tails to much? I mean, granted, before this we used to throw black A LOT! Always caught some fish on them... but no monsters. Seem to be catching more sized fish with these colored tailed ones... going to have to start taking notes on that.

ZOOM OL monster in tequila sunrise is my favorite go too bait. doesn't matter the water color for me. i just have so much confidence in that worm i buy em in bulk.

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

If it says Zoom on the bag.............it catches fish.

fishing user avatarWRB reply :

I almost never respond to "best" --------. If you want big custom hand poured worms check Uptom's Customs worms. I doubt if lake G bass have seen these before. Josh makes colors not shown on his site, give him a call. Night Stocker, Midnight, black grape w/ blue vein and celestial nights should work for you. The 9" straight tail is a good worm to start with.

Tom

fishing user avatarToadTorcher reply :

Zoom and powerbait is what most people throw around here. The Zoom Mag II worm (7 or 7.5" dont remember) is one my favorite worms. Culprit and Yum make a fine worms also!

If you really want to beef up your worms, trying a rage tail Anaconda. They're 10: but have allot more beef and a bigger profile than your average 10" worm like say a Zoon Ol' Monster.

Tom knows whats up. His 17" and 19" worms are awesome, and the 13" are killer too, he has some really great colors on TW and as Tom said he will do a bunch of other colors

Been my best worm for years. I like the paddletail in brush,it doesn't hang up as much as the ribbontail.
