What is the best Frog the Market? 2025

fishing user avatarOhitsmeagain reply :

I have used mostly Booyah frogs and they work ok for me. I am looking into the livetarget Frogs and Snag Proofs Ish Phat Frog. What is your Favorite Frog?

fishing user avatarYeajray231 reply :

If the topwater bite is on, it almost doesn't even matter what you're using whether it's a Zara spook or zoom horny toad.

That being said I've become partial to the lunk.erhunt frogs (especially that lil pocket frog )  , booyah bad crasher , and the rage toad.

fishing user avatarbigturtle reply :

I like booyah and river2sea ones

fishing user avatarCTBassin860 reply :

Booyah pad crasher all day

fishing user avatarFishOnLMB reply :

I like to use the live target Coppertone. I also like the booyah pad crasher for a popping frog.

fishing user avatarriverbasser reply :

Pad crasher and spro popper. Been wanting to try the scum tho

fishing user avatargulfcaptain reply :

I mainly use 3 frogs.  1 would be a Snag Proof Phat Frog, the next would be a Bronzeye Shad, and the last one which I have started throwing more then the other two would be the Deps Slither K frog.  The Deps is by far the easiest to walk, has a higher hook up percentage, but also carrys the highest price tag.  But the Phat Frog is a close 2nd and a really nice frog to fish.

fishing user avatarmwh33 reply :

I use the river2sea frogs and the Ish Monroe frogs.

fishing user avatar"hamma" reply :

Ok I have a few different views on this,....

Frogs, to me, mean a topwater that I throw ontop of large lilypad fields.

Many years ago I used either the available "snag proof frog", or the even better 3/8 oz. johnsons silver minnow spoon with a white grub on it as a "trailer". These were my staples and the snagproof? really wasnt,.. I used the spoon more.

Then came the snag proof's replacements, the "hollow" bodied frogs you see today on the shelves, and although I have not bought a single one I did find a few, and have tried them, they work well but I have a better option (I believe)

Try a 1/4 oz. weedless jig with a matching colored "pig" or pork rind, actually,.. in the heat of summer I will put a zooms salty chunk jr as the pork will dry out if left on the boats deck for over an hour.

Just be sure to be reeling before the jig hits the pads, you can stop it on a big pad for a few seconds if you wish, and if centered on it? it wont sink,. you can also run it to the pad fields edge, then stop reeling and act like your probing the edge's depths. (like flipping or pitching)

The main reason for a jig and pig on pads as if its a "frog" is: when you get a blow-up, but the fish missed it, often you can just let it drop in the hole made, and jig it for another strike.  therefore having a "follow-up" as your "searchbait",... combining the two.

I have tried worms texas rigged for this, and they did "kinda",..but they just didnt work as well as the bulkier jig and pig. A large worm would stick to the sunsoaked pads, and a smaller one didnt have the bulk to keep it up on the top of them. Maybe a senko, or mid sized worm? Im not sure,.. but would imagine they would "stick" to the pads as well.,..

So, to me?,.. the best frog on the market, isnt a frog

fishing user avatarfishballer06 reply :

I've tried all the big one's and I've settled on the Jackall Iobee frog as my personal favorite. It keeps water out well, it has good hooks, the plastic on the body is a durable material, I can get it to walk well, and I get good hookups for it being a frog.

Only downside is they appear to be discontinued. :doubt:

Booyah Popping Pad Crasher and Spro Popping Bronzeye.

fishing user avatarRichF reply :

Spro bronzeyes are my favorites.  Live Targets are pretty nice (super soft).  Not a huge fan of Ish's Phat frog though. Don't get me wrong, they're amazing walkers.  The problem for me is their profile.  It doesn't leave enough hook gap so it can be a bit harder to hook up.  You can try bending the hooks up a little to open that gap which helps...but then you don't have a very "snag proof" frog.

fishing user avatarHeron reply :

Try visiting the Bassjunkie frog pond blog.   The guy does a good job writing reviews on all frogs.

this...

Although I have found all frogs will work if you tweak them appropriately (bending hooks, trimming legs, replacing legs, rattles, blades, etc).

fishing user avatarthe reel ess reply :

I think you're using good ones. I like the Booyah Pad Crashers. I haven't gotten as many bites on the popping model. I truly dislike the one that shall not be mentioned on this site that has realistic looking soft legs that come off and fills with water after a couple bites. I bought an H2O Xpress frog from Academy because the price was right, but it's difficult to walk and the plastic is harder.

I caught what held as my PB for about a decade on the Snag Proof Original Frog that you see in my avatar. I have caught pond bass recently on that frog as well but it requires spinning tackle to cast it well. They now make a model for casting reels.

fishing user avatarIndianaFinesse reply :

Booyah pad crasher in both sizes and the booyah popping pad crasher are my two top producing frogs, but I also use the live target frogs on occasion.  Keep it simple with colors, get one with a white belly and one black.  My favorites are cricket frog and dart frog ight train.

Dart frog is my favorite color.Bullfrog is the other

fishing user avatarhunterPRO1 reply :

i personally like the booyah frogs for price vs quality. but the lunker hunt frogs are nice too.

fishing user avatarSFL BassHunter reply :

I've tried quite a few frogs and always end up going back to Booyah Pad Crushers and Live Target HB Frogs.

Booyah are reasonably priced and they make a popper version which I like.

For non popper I go with Live Target. They are more expensive but are a bit more durable and they work real good.

fishing user avatarWIGuide reply :

My favorite is the Booyah Pad Crasher. They do everything I ask and work just as well as the Live Target, Spro, and others that cost more.

fishing user avatariceintheveins reply :

Live Target. Also really like the pad crasher and Ish's Phat Frog though.

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

Since you already have and use the Booyah, just keep using it. They are a great frog. Your not going to gain anything by spending more money.

Used to be the pad crusher. This year I bought the Live Target Sunfish. I know it's not a frog but man it's fun to fish. The bass love it, and it walks great. The only problem is you have to squeeze the water out every time, a little super glue and the problem is fixed. It's a riot to fish though! Any frog or top water is just plain fun to fish!
