Finesse Creature Bait 2025

fishing user avatarDypsis reply :

I am looking for a finesse type creature bait to add to my arsenal.  I am thinking of throwing it after a cold front or in particular at slack tide.

Anything you like that fits the bill?  I was thinking a twin tail grub at its simplest form.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

The YUM Baby Christie Critter has been a good one for me.

I generally do well with a smallie beaver or 3 inch SK rodent texas rigged with a 3/16 oz weight. Not sure if this is finesse enough but it tends to work pretty well when there is a need to downsize.

fishing user avatarTurtle135 reply :

A 4" Yamamoto Double Tail Hula Grub on a 1/4 ounce jig head. The bass were acting funky with the cold front that came through this weekend. This finagled me a few bites.

After some recommendations last year I really love the 4" SK Rodent, never tried the 3" but I certainly will.  The 4" is just a little bulky at time.

This is one bait I have been meaning try forever and for whatever reason never have.  Might have to change that.

I was thinking about a baby brush hog, so this looks to be just as nice.

I have become a jig addict and when I just can't talk the bass into eating a manly sized jig this presentation keeps me happy and the bites coming.

I have packs and packs of the GY hula grubs.... They're killer weightless too. So if you go that route be sure to try them weightless before you give up on them.

The Cabin Creek Spider Parts has been a winner for me. The skirts are separate so you can mix/match colors. My best combo has been a GP body with the Tennessee Orange skirt. Use a 1/8 - 1/4 oz jig head - 1/8 being the best for me. The thick tentacle is to use as a weed guard.

Probably my favorite creature bait to be honest, but looking for something with a slightly smaller profile.

Can I get straight from u?

fishing user avatarsmr913 reply :

depending on how small you want to go, I have been using the tiny brush hogs on a 1/10 shroom head and working it similar to a ned rig. They do great in tough conditions for smallies.

fishing user avatarBassguytom reply :

I like the Gambler little otter. Lots of choices out there for post frontal conditions. This has served me well.

I have a bag or three of the Tiny Brush Hogs but have never found a hook or jighead I really liked for them.  They are so thin that they seem to rip after a few casts without even a little tap or peck from a sunfish.

If you can't catch fish on a Smallie Beaver or similar bait in the state of Maryland then take up a new hobby.

I've done well with the 3" Megabug on a 1/8oz swinghead too, killer smallmouth bait.
