Gmans Jigs 2025

fishing user avatarDavis reply :

Just came in today. Can't wait to try them. Really impressed by the quality. Skirts are beautiful. Will be pairing these up with * Chunk and flinging them either today or Wed. I'll post pics and a review at some point.

Really recommend these to fellow Jig chuckers based on appearance alone. They have a similar head (maybe the same) as Karu's jigs. See no reason why these wouldn't produce some monster fish. Thanks again Gman.

Do yourself a favor and click on his website under his profile and look around.

Dude you will not regret that buy.Gman's is awesome.I probably have a 3600 box filled alone just of gman's stuff. His jigs last a good while for me.

Also look into basssnacks.com. That is from Joe S. another member on here and his products are just awesome. His trailers are the "only" trailers i used. When he says they are super soft he ain't kidding!.

fishing user avatarsenile1 reply :

I just purchased a few of GMAN's jigs to try out.  I caught a couple of fish on them Sunday using a Yum chunk trailer.  The jigs are nicely made.

Thanks for the info concerning the basssnacks.  I thought about purchasing some of them as well.

fishing user avatarSiebert Outdoors reply :

thank you guys for the good words.  Its a great feeling when someone is impressed with my work and even better when the jigs produce for them.

Catch some lunkers. 8-)

I don't lose jigs often but when I need to order more you will definatley be getting my business from now on. Great work man.  8-)

fishing user avatar5bass reply :

I use GMAN's jigs too. Good quality jigs, no doubt. If I can only talk him into getting some frog hair round rubber skirts. Hint, hint, hint. :o

fishing user avatarsenko_77 reply :

I can definetely attest to the quality of Gmans jigs.

He makes a custom color for me called the "senko77 special" that I won a few tournaments on last year, and so far has bailed me out of some tough situations this year.

Top notch stuff Gman.  Thanks for the awesome products!

fishing user avatarGatorbassman reply :

I use them to. They are the best football jigs I have. Top shelf stuff.

fishing user avatarAutiger24 reply :

Another vote of GMAN jigs. Also I thought I head bassnacks mentioned. Joe S. makes the best trailer you will ever use. They are super soft and the fish hold on forever.

fishing user avatartyrius. reply :

I'm patiently (well not really) awaiting delivery of my first order.

fishing user avatarDan: reply :

Sounds like I found some new jigs now that I've been practicing my pitching.

fishing user avatarJeff H reply :

Ahhh....the "trawler" is what I call 'em.  Clean your lake right out if you ain't careful.  GMAN's the best!

fishing user avatarSPEEDBEAD. reply :

I bought some of Gman's jigs from our own flea market.  They were the first jigs I had ever purchased and they are still producing well today.

Fine product.

fishing user avatarChris at Tech reply :

Hmmmm....looks like a nice alternative to paying $3+ each for the 'big name brands' :o

Do these come with rattles?

Any pictures anywhere of the finesse jigs?  Can't seem to find one on the website.

fishing user avatarcajun1977. reply :

His prices are great.  No rattles that I'm aware of but I bet he'd make skirts with rattle collars that hold rattles if you ask him.

The Finesse heads are weedless round ball with 60 deg flat eye Mustad round bend hooks....I think.

GMAN,

What hooks do you use for your finesse jigs?

Mustad ultrapoints with a flat eye.  all sizes have a 4/0 hook in them. its a 60 deg hook.

I'm still workin on the site and appologize for some of the pics not being there.

I use the ultra point for all my jigs.  Its a good hook that keeps a sharp point.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Mustad Ultra Points, huh?

That's news to me. I will have to add that hook

to the list I recommend!

p.s. You also use a thick skirt. Describe that for us, please.

8-)

fishing user avatarSiebert Outdoors reply :

Yup,  been using them for several years or so now.  I really like them.  The point is completely different then say a gami.  I do not like gami hooks for jigs.  I've had problems with the point bending since they are thinner.

From Mustad site:

The ULTRAPOINT three-stage grinding technology produces an incredibly sharp needle point, but because more of the metal remains the point won't roll or lose sharpness keeping that sticky sharpness for longer.

And its true from what I've found.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Well, I'll take your word for it. My only issue with your jigs is that

I lose them just like others. The life expectancy for a jig I'm fishing

is very short!

It all varies on application imo.  I made some jigs for a gentleman that I considered ultra finesse. I made a few different thicknesses of skirts to see what I liked the best.  With the 1/0 hook we used and his application I liked the look of a aprox 22 strand skirt.  These little jigs are neat.  I would think it would be a creek/small river fishermans dream jig.

I do not like too have too thick of a skirt.  most of them I make range from 44-50 strands it gives it a good body with a trailer.  That # of strands is what I use 99.9% of the time.

I have made skirts thicker and used them up to 66 and 88.  I didnt notice any difference in catch %'s.  It all stayed the same for me.  I've had some requests for real thick skirts so I do make them.  I just dont fish them anymore after trying them both.

Some may have a different opinion but I stick with what works for me.  44-50 strands is my go to # for jiggin.

PS,  yes you can have to many strands.  Fartin around I put about 150 or so on a jig once.  Looked like a bush. Never fished it just tinkering. LOL

LOL,  I hear ya.  I had some special skirt material.  The kind never seen before.  I made 2 jigs with it.  My luck plus something really cool.  Yeah 3 casts lost the 2 jigs to rocks.  Thats my kind of luck.

RW,  you ever throw Football jigs in the river?

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Yes, but I haven't had much luck with jigs, regardless of the style, on the Tennessee River. A couple of years ago I caught a 6 1/2 lb smallmouth floating over a gravel bar, just off the channel drop, but most of the time I'm fishing more gnarly structure and can't seem to get two casts from a jig. If I'm fishing artificials, I'm throwing a GYCB Single Tail Grub on a Gammie 1/8 oz head. Since this is always moving, it lasts twice as long! Needless to say, I go through a lot of jig heads.

::o

fishing user avatarJeff H reply :

Those Ultra Point hooks are a great jig hook.  Very tough point on them.  Heck, the rocks sharpen them rather than bend them. ;D

Next time I'm buying hooks for worms, tubes etc I'm going to give Mustads a look.
