Footwear In The Rain 2025

fishing user avatarBlues19 reply :

I wear tennis shoes 100% of the time.  I dont mind it at all, except in the rain in the spring and fall.  Wet socks are pretty much the most uncomfortable thing in the world, especially when its cool outside... Ive considered getting some cheap rubber boots to wear for rainy days.  Im a bit concerned the boots will be uncomfortable to wear all day though.  I will get some insoles, but will that be enough to make rubber boots somewhat comfortable?  What do you all wear?

fishing user avatarcurtis9 reply :

I wear goretex hiking boots. Comfortable to wear all day and keep my feet dry

fishing user avatar00 mod reply :

Below 50- Northface Waterproof boots

50-65 Redwing leather boots with good socks

65-80 Merril Waterproof tennis shoes

80+ Flip Flops

Jeff

Thanks Lee, it was 1 degree here this morning w/35-40mph winds. See ya in 2 weeks though. Brian.

fishing user avatarJig Man reply :

I wear running shoes most of the time when I fish.  I only buy the ones that are gortex so wet feet are not a problem for me.

Me too.

fishing user avatarCatch 22 reply :

Often I can be seen with Tingley`s 9" rubber over boot. Light weight pull on provides  some additional warmth ,good to about 40 deg with sneakers.====Put a plastic shopping bag over  shoe so the boot slips on/off easier.

fishing user avatargeo g reply :

When in the boat Merrill sandals.  When bank fishing I wear leather boots lots of snakes in the areas I walk.

fishing user avatarCasey99 reply :

Fall, winter and early spring I wear water proof hiking boots. Keeps your feet warm and dry.

fishing user avatarboostr reply :

I only bank fish right now. I usually wear a leather waterproof work type boot, but i just ordered a pair of Merrill waterproof hiking boots. If it gets colder i just put on some thick winter socks. If I know it's gonna be a little swampy or muck I put on a pair of rubber, and  insulated muck boots.

Wool socks are a nessesity for me.with hiking boots when bank fishing and watershoes when yaking

fishing user avatargobig reply :

I wear merrells also. There like a water proof, aggressive, tennis shoe.

fishing user avatarItsTig reply :

I looked around a bunch last year and was going to buy some Merrells. Looks like they would have been a good choice. However, i got some Salomons as a gift, and have been real happy with them. I had never even heard of them before. I have the XA Pro 3D Ultra 2GTX, they are a mountain trail shoe, and have been perfect for bank fishing. I definitely recommend them for anyone trekking along the banks and looking to stay dry. Good all season, just need some nice warm or extra socks in winter if I can get out.

fishing user avatareverythingthatswims reply :

This may seam really ghetto, but when my dad used to be a paper deliverer he would always have to buy these bags to slip the papers into to keep them dry when it was raining. Well as it turns out they are very waterproof and about the same size as a sock, so when we go out into the rain, we always put the bags over our wool socks before putting them into crocks (or tennis shoes). Then we just tuck the bags into the tops of our socks and roll our pants over our socks.

Where the thunder can you get those bags? I like that idea

Well you probably could just talk to your paperman and ask him for some bags. They only cost my dad 2 cents a piece when he bought him from the gazette, and I'm pretty sure you could just pay your paperman for some for dirt cheap.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

A few years ago I found some very stretchy rubber overshoes at Orschlens Farm & Home.  I think if you wore them walking around very much they would wear out pretty quickly, however, in the boat they keep whatever shoe I'm wearing that day dry.  It seems to me that they weren't that expensive, i.e. less than $20.

fishing user avatarDILLY07 reply :

For me, Im crazy. I don't pay attention about the rain. I focus on catching bass. If it rains, during 50 degree weather, I wear Nike Reax Run 8's with under armor  ankle socks. I rarely had my feet wet, cause of my rain suit, covers basically most of my shoe. In summer, I usually wear my rain coat with shorts with Nike Reax Run 8's or Reef Fanning Sandals that is air cushioned for long hot dog days.
